Simon Cowell made a joke about Steven Tyler before the Founders Awards at the International Emmy Awards in New York on Monday night.
“I always said it had to be someone who wasn’t better looking than me and they achieved it.”
He also heard from Randy Jackson that Tyler is a nice guy. Otherwise, Cowell didn’t make any snide remarks about “Idol” from what I can tell.
- Radar Online, the somewhat reliable gossip site, said Fantasia testified during divorce proceedings for Antwaun Cook that she had an abortion around the time of her suicide attempt in August.
- Last night, I forgot to tape the “E! True Hollywood Story” featuring Adam Lambert. EW posted the top 10 moments. I definitely plan to see it later during a repeat.
7. Adam giving us too much information, but using humor to make it totally inoffensive: “I lost my virginity at 21, and it was to a man — not a woman. And it wasn’t very good.” [Laughs.] “Sometimes it takes a little while to learn how to do that correctly.” [Bigger laugh.]
-After promising a 30 minute results show, Fox went back to one hour. Oh, well. Here’s Mike Darnell, head of reality programming, and his justification to EW:
“That timeslot looks ripe, it’s the right moment,” explains Darnell, who also goes onto explain why Fox abandoned the idea of airing a 30-minute results show. “If you are going to attack Thursdays, you need to attack it with your biggest piece because that’s the only way anyone has ever won on that night. And if you are going to make this move, you have to have an hour show. You can’t go in with a half hour. The new format and the things happening with the show are going to make that hour make much more sense.”
-Daily Carrie Underwood “Mama’s Song” Mediabase 24/7 update: She breaks 5,900 spins for the first time (5,908 for the week of Nov. 16-22 vs. 5,627 for Nov. 9-15.) She remains at No. 11 and No. 9 when weighted for audience. She is still showing upward momentum though 13 songs are moving up the charts faster.
-Speaking of Carrie, if you have a few bucks to spare for charity and want to fly up to Ottawa, well, here’s your chance to have dinner with her and her husband Mike Fisher. Opening bid: $7,500. More details here.
-Joe’s Place is back with spoilers though at this stage, it’s way too early for me to care.
