Carrie Underwood wins favorite country female album on AMAs

Sorry for the late posting here. Busy day. I even got to meet Ted Turner, who wanted to talk about the 20th anniversary of Captain Planet. He didn’t say anything outrageous and I didn’t ask him about “American Idol.”

Carrie at 2009's AMA

Anyway, Carrie Underwood was not at the American Music Awards last night but won favorite country female album with “Play On.” Her current single “Mama’s Song” slipped back from No. 10 on Friday to No. 11 on total airplay with 5,863 spins for Nov. 15-21, up 276 from a week earlier, Nov. 8-14. She holds at No. 10 for weighted airplay. Tim McGraw’s “Felt Good On  My Lips” jumped over her again into the 10 slot. Singles by Chris Young and Keith Urban are breathing down her neck and may surpass her.

Danny Gokey was on hand to play Ryan Seacrest and work the red carpet.

- Adam Lambert’s “E! True Hollywood Story” debuts tonight at 9 p.m. I’ll post something tomorrow.

- Kat McPhee is visiting the AFLAC Cancer Center here in Atlanta Wednesday before her tree lighting headlining performance at the Lenox Square Macy’s Thanksgiving evening. I do plan to meet her (finally!) then and I will take copious pictures for you Kat fans out there!

Finally got to see a beginning-to-end episode of “DWTS” – yikes! Are those judges blind? It was like a “Glee” mash-up in dance… elegant, sylphlike, talented Jennifer vs. clumsy, boorish, unhappy-to-be-there Bristol.

Still have never watched DWT(so-called)S…sounds like I’m not missing much.

Kudos to Carrie; play on and keep winning!

More Kat pics coming: wonderlicious.

Morning!

I feel sorry for Bristol…she knows she shouldn’t be there but she’s caught in a whirlwind and can’t get out.

You’re a better person than I, Deirdre, feeling sorry for the Bristol… I just see a mini-me of her mom, with all the jabbering about “haters”.

Morning! I don’t like Bristol, but it is not because of her mother. And, like you, D, I do feel a bit sorry for her. She is one of those kids that is now famous for being famous and not much beyond the teen pregnancy thing. They call her “teen activist,” but this show has pretty much destroyed her cred with other teens, I would imagine.

Not Idol-related, and surely off-subject, but I saw Emmylou Harris in Greenville, SC Sunday night, and she has not lost a step, even though she is now a grandmother. And, Rosita, she sang “Hickory Wind.” I cried.

It was not Yogi. It was Smokey and I mean the Bear and not that guy who made those car chase pictures with that Sally Fields who should have known better for heavens sake.

Harriett, wow! I’m envious and thrilled to hear about Emmylou. Thanks!

Wow! Harriett….Emmylou….that must have been great.

I think I’ll refrain from hating Bristol. She’s still a kid trying to figure out how she got herself into this mess and how to make the most of it. If she’d been anyone else’s daughter, she would have been eliminated a long time ago. If one of the president’s daughters did this show, I’m pretty sure the results would be the same. As I said before, the country is suffering from a nasty case of PMS and some voters would use their own grandmothers to make a point. On both sides of the aisle.

If Bristol was smart(which she isn’t) she’d step out of this firestorm and get away from all the attention. IMO, she did DWTS to one-up the a**h*le jerk who fathered her child. He got a reality show(another case of the media taking advantage of a naive kid to get headlines)so she wanted a reality show. They both have some serious growing up to do.

Re Bristol Palin: I don’t know her so don’t really like or dislike her. But I do wonder about the firestorm surrounding her and the accompanying hate. Is she the first teen to get pregnant or possibly win a “reality” show who wasn’t the favorite? I think not.

Thanks for your time.

Between now and X Factor Simon will be playing politics… he won’t tarnish his brand by slamming a rival judge. He’ll let that judge tarnish himself.

Bristol is not a kid, hence she can show us the bristols.

Wait’ll the “little redhead” is Bristol’s age, JT…then tell me whether or not she’s a kid. ;-)

Rosita, sorry…thanks for the link. Simon is not stupid. He won’t say anything negative regarding Idol other than his own need to do something else. I think he might also see the frightening correlation between Tyler and Abdul. And we all know how much he loved Paula.

LOL, that argument won’t work on me just like the argument of “that is someone’s daughter” doesn’t work on me. Heck, my wife is someone’s daughter, if you know what I’m saying ;)

I’m curious if Simon does as much public vetting prior to X Factor as Nigel is doing. If so does Rodney cover that in this blog or his other, not half as cool, blog?

Deirdre

Time will tell, JT. The “little redhead” isn’t just someone’s daughter…she’s your daughter.

Exactly.

Granted, I should observe the sanctity of time honored traditions and set up an arranged marriage for when she first becomes a teenager, because hundreds of years of tradition can’t be wrong.

Now that is baiting, and I recognize that.

Oh when will this DWTS madness finally be over?

Anybody else discovered “The Walking Dead” yet? I’ve never seen the point of zombies, all they do is kill and munch, but WD is about the human survivors, and they’re a pretty interesting bunch. Entertainment Weekly has it on the cover, under the head “The Best New Show on TV”. Plus, it’s filmed in and around Atlanta.
