Kara DioGuardi gets her own show on Bravo

tumblr_kyhikzAY911qzp3oj

EW has learned that Bravo has greenlit a singer-songwriter competition show starring Jewel and Kara DioGuardi.

Kara, who lost her “Idol” gig this year after two seasons, will be head judge. Jewel, who was a judge and host on “Nashville Star” and has guested on “Idol” as a judge, will host.

This show, originally dubbed “Hitmakers,” is now called “Going Platinum.”

I wrote about the casting for the show back in April.

There will be no public voting. This will be like ‘Project Runway” or “Top Chef.” The judges will decide. The winner gets $100,000 and will get a songwriting with Sony/BMI and record label deal with RCA/Jive.

Twelve musicians will be competing in songwriting challenges across a variety of genres and perform their own songs. I hope an Atlantan makes the cut.

At stake is a $100,000 cash prize; a publishing deal with Sony, BMI Songwriters The Writing Camp; and a recording deal with RCA/Jive.

This sounds like fun. The premiere date has not been set but it won’t debut until 2011.Will they run it while “Idol” is going on? Probably not  but you never know.

K&CFan: you probably know all this (why am I bothering?), but below is Kelly’s address, and the article in USAToday about the anthem and selling her house has a link that shows her house from stem to stern – every room, front and back yards. Cool house, but some of the rooms a bit more “colorful” than I like. Doesn’t look like she’s spending much time there.

If Kara shows the goods like she is in that picture than the show will be a hit. Otherwise, just another reality dud.

Kaka???? Was that a freudian slip, Harm???? LOL!

Jewel made a good judge on Nashville Star…I’m not so sure about Kara…but we’ll see.

All one has to do to get their own show is to leave idol. I like Jewel and she was a good judge on Nashville Star as well as idol, but Kara, nope.

Harm…last I heard from KPH was that little Porter’s brain bleed was not resolving itself and surgery is likely. Haven’t heard anything since then.

Judge not unless maybe you want everyone else to get in on the act is what my grandmother used to say. I am developing a greater appreciation for her even though she once blamed me for hiding her parakeet. Who hides a parakeet? My mother bless her heart could not stop beating me with the hairbrush long enough to tell me either but do not get me started please. Anyway enough with the judging others unless it is one of those Law and Order programs where the defendants do not keep coming back to make record albums nobody wants to purchase or they would have won their case in the first place. And Sunset Boulevard was made by Paramount Pictures and they still own the rights I am sure.

YOU PEOPLE ARE CRAZY! Kara was MORE QUALIFIED and PROVIDED MORE FEEDBACK than Randy Jackson and Ellen. Simon might know how to sell an artist, and Paula could provide some insight as a former pop diva herself…but Kara knows music and talent better than ANY of them. Besides, J.Lo has never even done a concert tour. Her voice is so synthesized and over-produced. She’s just a pretty face but does not have the vocal pipes to back it up. American Idol is going to suck next year. This is the END of Idol. HELLLOOOOO Kara!

Hey, everyone. Just been lurking and reading posts today, but wanted to jump in with news about little Porter. They were transferring him to Scottish Rite today for surgery to relieve the fluid on his brain, but there has been a delay. They are just holdinig on and waiting to see when the transfer takes place.

Mo, I never have in my life heard of anyone hiding a parakeet–unless it was dead.

Rodney, I’m going to be there at Carrie’s show tomorrow. (Is that even a question?)

Sam-A, Yes, I’ve known Kelly’s address for a long time. It’s actually never been that hard to find. Which, I suppose might be why she’s selling it. I’ve heard of incidents where some fans have shown up to her house…one of her backup singers (both of them share the house with Kelly) complained that it was trespassing. For the record, no, it was not me. :) The main problem is that the house is not in a gated community and does not have a fenced-in yard. Not sure how a international star figured she didn’t need a fence/gated community? My guess is, that like Carrie before her, she’s moving to a more “secure” area. Like she should, IMO. Belle Meade is really a stone’s throw from downtown…most Nashville celebs live further away.

Good for Kara! I especially like the no-public voting bit. The Project Runway judges usually vote for the correct (imho) designer to win..

Scariest movie I’ve seen this year: “Inside Job”.

Rodney, sure! I just sent you an email. I wasn’t really in the mood to post our numbers online. At least mine anyway. ;)

Neg, no kidding. I saw where apparently Nigel tweeted that he loved a 15-year-old in Nashville yesterday. People gave him grief, but he’s defending it. I don’t know. I think the older I get, I might reach the point where I outgrow Idol. Or not. But by next year, Kelly will be too to have auditioned (per the age limit now in place). Oy. We’re aging. Better than the alternative, I agree.

As far as singer/songwriter types…that’s really becoming more of my “lane/wheelhouse” so I’ll have to check it out.

Kara was awful the 1st yr then came on strong. I actually think she grew into her role on Idol very well and was sorry to see her leave. She’s a babe. Ever see Jewel on Nashville Star? I did. Forgettable at best. She sand what? One country song and then was a judge. Get real. Lets see what this new venue does. Idol is on its way out. J Lo? Don’t think so.

Morning!

Two personal asides:

Maggie is going to the vet this morning because she has stopped putting weight on her injured leg. :-(

The artist formerly known as Mr Atlanta, currently known as Mr Boston will, by the end of Nov., be called Mr Silicon Valley. Details will follow next week.

Harriett

OMG, D! Do hope Maggie is going to be ok. After all she and you have been through, I am sure this turn of events is disturbing.

And, Mr. Silicon Valley? Awaiting details.

On a much different note, a friend of mine posted this observation on Facebook: “Someone needs to take Charlie Sheen on a visit to the morgue so he can catch a glimpse of his future.” Truer words…

Deirdre

Sometimes, as in the case of Lohan and Sheen, it may take more than just a visit to the morgue. An extended stay is in their futures if they don’t find a way to get it together. Maybe Robert Downey, Jr should have a talk with them.

Good Morning.

D be sure to let us know how Maggie is. Hope the vet gives you good news. And, Mr. Silicon Valley, sounds like another move, but will wait for details.

Charlie Sheen, like some others in Hollywood, is a big joke.

Future Lohan/Sheen? Willow Smith, who, at 9, wants to be famous like her mom (Jada Pinkett-Smith) and dad (Will).

Educational and fun read: Tim Gunn’s co-written bio “Life’s Little Lesson’s for Making It Work”. I adore Tim, he’s the heart and soul of “Project Runway”.

OK, back from the vet. The surgeon says it appears that Maggie’s bones have healed but she has swelling and tenderness. X-rays have been faxed to a radiologist to confirm healing. Blood work was done to rule out infection……if everything is as it should be then the vet believes it’s the metal plate holding her bones together causing the swelling and discomfort. If there’s no infection and the bones have healed, the plate will be removed either this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Two more weeks of rehab and we should be done!
