Ryan Seacrest puts his house up for sale. He’s asking for $15 million!

ryanseacrest

If you want to live in Ryan Seacrest’s Hollywood Hills home, it’s for sale for a mere $14.95 million.

He purchased the home from Kevin Costner for $11.5 million in 2006. I have no idea what improvements he put into it, but the story says it has been remodeled under Seacrest’s watch. It’s a 10,000-square-feet Mediterranean-style home with six bedrooms and 6.5 baths plus a guest home. It sits on an acre and has a great view of the city. It has a tennis court, a pool and a wine cellar.

He hasn’t commented about the sale yet so we have no idea why he’s doing so. Given his financial situation, it’s certainly not because he has to.

Architecture Digest did a story about the home in 2008.

It is not an old house (circa 1970s), but it has a stately, Old Hollywood feeling, with city-lights views, lots of palm trees, a pool and a tennis court, a screening room, a wine cellar and a sterling celebrity pedigree (previous residents include Kevin Costner and Richard Dreyfuss). It is the entertainer’s hard-won sanctuary. “I looked for the right property for years,” he relates. “It was really tricky to find something that had the convenience factor—I wanted to be at work in 10 minutes—and at the same time the escape factor. In my head I was seeing the sort of villa you might see in Spain or Italy. The day I saw the house was the day I made an offer.”

- Here is Steven Tyler’s take on the National Anthem before a Bruins game. Not his cup of tea though some said he “butchered” it. It wasn’t that bad.

-Remember John Park from season 9? He almost made the top 12. The Korean-American tried out for the Korean version of the competition and came in second. Understandably, some criticized the show for letting an American compete.

-Carrie Underwood’s “Mama’s Song” radio airplay watch: the song over the past 12 days has seen its airplay increase about 15 percent to 5,001 spins from Oct. 18-24, up 414 spins from Oct. 11-17. It  moves up No. 14 from 15. Why? Kenny Chesney’s “Boys of Fall” fell off the current chart to recurrent although it still has more spins than Carrie’s song. It’s just a rule Mediabase has set to help new songs move up the chart. The song remains 439 spins behind No. 13 song, Jason Aldean’s “My Kinda Party.” She is about 1,200 spins behind the No. 10 song. Good news for Carrie is three songs are already losing steam in the top 12 and she has a 350 spin lead over the No. 15 song by Trace Adkins. So her chances of getting into the top 10 remain solid. Top 5? We’ll see.

Oops – gonna say that’s a mighty big house for a single dude who couldn’t spend much time there. Heard on the radio today he and Julianne were spotted at a restaurant and at an “upscale grocery store” over the weekend. Hope this blog doesn’t start up the creeps again re his “choice”.

An acre in the Hollywood Hills is worth a small fortune…doesn’t even have to have a house on it.

I saw a couple of the songs John Park sang during the competition. He was good but not good enough to win Idol(except for season 9, of course).

Woodpappy and Harriett: You are so right about me not having to drive in this weather. i did my share of it when I was driving 150 miles a day to work. No more!!!!!!!!!!

Nice digs for a single guy. Curious minds want to know why he is selling. Maybe for a larger home?

Times must be tough fro Ryan. After all, he’s only making $15,000,000 a year. If he sells the house, he’ll double his income for the year… but he’ll be homeless.

I wonder how much equity he has in it. Good luck to him selling it in this market, the high end houses are feeling the pinch just like the low end.

John Park, I remember him, he was the guy with the nice bottom right?

This Steven Tyler should for the safety sake of it keep his daylight savings job judging the Idol contest program and leave the singing to the professionals. If that Francis Scott Key fellow had been there he would have died on the spot but that was in Baltimore and not Boston of all things which no one sings about anyway unless you are the Standells which most people are not and for good reason.

Afternoon, all!
Ryan won’t die poor, that’s for sure.
Re questions from yesterday’s thread – instead of saying suit jacket maybe I should have stated it was the top of a two-piece suit… i.e. one that you wear nothing but undies under. Anyone but that uncouth homeland security guard would have realized this.
In a just world, he would be sentenced to watch every single episode of Project Runway that ever was .

I would have unbuttoned the top, flashed him, then asked him if he still wanted me to take it off. And if he did…I would have taken it off then gone through the screener…then reported his azz to the authorities. Seems like that would have embarrassed him more than me. But then, that’s just me. ;-)

Hope everyone is doing well.

Sorry I have not been around. I was in the hospital a couple weeks ago (herniated disk) and have been slowly recovering since then. have an appointment later this week with a Nuerosurgeon in Birmingham to decide what course of action we are going to take.

The herniation has impinged the sciatic nerve completely and is putting pressure on the spinal column. So surgery is likely, but want to get all options on the table before making a decision.

Pain has gone WAYYYY down after 2 rounds of steroid treatment and two cortisone shots, but still have a lot of numbness in my foot and leg.

Mike, good luck in getting your back up & running again! I just had a sciatic nerve thingy (renamed by me “burning/pinchy buttock”), and thought I’d die for the 8 weeks it lasted. Used one of those TENS machines, for what it was worth (who knows!), and went 3 times a week to the Chiro – it finally went away. Don’t even want to think about what you’ve been going through. Best wishes in your direction.

Frankly, both TI and LL deserve to do hard time for flaunting their status”, and I use their D celebrity status loosely as they are no talent pheebs who without voco machines would never have a singing career, while other people who don’t have the money to defend themselves for the same crimes, are locked up,

Apparently Simon’s mom isn’t on board with his engagement. From msn.com:

Seems the music mogul’s 85-year-old mom, Julie, feels he may have rushed into popping the question to makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy. What’s more, she claims Mezhgan has jetted back to California from London after becoming fed up with the long hours Simon spends crushing the hopes and dreams of would-be singers. “I think [the engagement] was too quick. This might give them the break they need to think it through. Marriage is a very, very big step,”

Ok. I am with Chief Wiggam about Ryan’s talent, or lack of. I dont expect anyone to agree with what I am about to say(Those that Know me understand I am Known to go against the grain so no suprise there)

I have watched many a celeb that have worked their tails off for years. Have more Raw talent in one of their fingers being it singing, acting, whatever. Some are Amazing in their fields. Yet these folks are struggling, many cant even land a record deal, or get a role in a movie. Hmmmm… Even amazing Old Hollywood stars who were Nothing short of Amazing and singers who sang their hearts out..Never in their entire career made any where near the money paid out to Ryan and J-who?

For the life of me I just do NOT understand what exactly Ryan and J-who does to receive such GIANT Paydays. OMG, Ryan is not a singer, dancer, actor. J-who is not a singer, subpar dancer, actress(Judy and Cheetah the chimps held my attention more) I just Do NOT get it.

Ryan however may be just like Dick Clark who had/has several business venues aside from his hosting dudies on AI. and maybe that explains wealth. Sad to say No matter what Talent he introduces on AI NONE come close to what he makes in six months let alone a year. I dont care WHO. NONE of the winners take home what he makes. They can win 100 awards like Carrie Underwood and sell millions of cds. NONE come near what Ryan takes home. NONE. and they never will.

If any thing every now and then You hear about some of the Winners having money problems if anything.(Ruben, Fantasia),Taylor Hicks NOT exactly taking home a HUGE Purse) AGAIN, I agree with Chief Wiggum, ONly in America. Its No wonder Folks from other countries are DYING to get here. Its NOT LIKE THEY NEED ANY TALENT to Get RICH. (eyes rolling)

linny just sent me this. I asked for her permission to post it and she said “go ahead, the message is good no matter which way you go”.

While walking down the street one day a Corrupt Senator was tragically hit by a car and died.

His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance. “Welcome to heaven,” says St. Peter. “Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we’re not sure what to do with you.” “No problem, just let me in,” says the Senator. “Well, I’d like to, but I have orders from the higher ups. What we’ll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity.” “Really?, I’ve made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,” says the Senator. “I’m sorry, but we have our rules.” And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.

The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him. Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people. They played a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and the finest champagne. Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who is having a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are all having such a good time that before the Senator realizes it, it is time to go. Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises. The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens in heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him, “Now it’s time to visit heaven.”

So, 24 hours passed with the Senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns. “Well, then, you’ve spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity.” The Senator reflects for a minute, then he answers: “Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell.

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell..

Now the doors of the elevator open and he’s in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above. The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulders. “I don’t understand,” stammers the Senator. “Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there’s just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?”

The devil smiles at him and says, “Yesterday we were campaigning. Today, you voted.”

Vote Wisely on November 2nd
