Ryan Seacrest, for the second year in a row, is coming back to his hometown to host the second Hearts and Hands Gala to benefit Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities on November 6.

It’s a black-tie event to be held that evening at the Georgia Aquarium. Atlanta’s Coca-Cola is the presenting sponsor (and coincidentally or not, a major sponsor of “American Idol”). A few tickets still remain. Last year, it sold out.

The event is $250 a ticket so this is definitely for folks with a bit of cash in their bank accounts.

Proceeds from the Hearts and Hands Gala will support the operations of Atlanta’s two Ronald McDonald Houses.

Gavin DeGraw (”I Don’t Wanna Be”) is going to be the musical guest.

Last year, I got a few minutes with a relaxed Ryan during his visit to one of the Ronald McDonald houses. I’m not sure what his schedule is like this year, but I hope to get some more face time with him, especially with all the changes coming up in 2011.

Come-On-Kid-Josiah-Leming-Remember Josiah Leming? He was the Nashville kid from season seven who lived in his car and lost his bearings during the Hollywood round and was cut right before the semifinals? He still ended up with a Warner Brothers record deal and will be at Vinyl Nov. 4 at 8:30 p.m. with Tyler Hilton opening. His album “Come on Kid” debuted Sept. 14. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. I’m seeking an interview.

Btw, what does “lost his bearings” mean, Rodney?

I know this isn’t about Ryan and Josiah, but I thought this clip was fitting for the Halloween season. A security camera captures footage of a ghost: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1V9Jxh00JsA&feature=player_embedded

Morning!

Re Ryan…I can’t think of a more worthy charity.

Josiah certainly made an impression on people. Mercedes, if you weren’t watching Idol when Josiah was on, he was an extremely talented young man who lived in his car(I think he was 18 at the time, although I would have bet a little younger). During Hollywood week, he was asked to do a song a certain way and refused. He ended up making a mess of the song and was cut. anyone who remembers the details better than I do please feel free to elaborate

JT, the Swedish comment you to ghost video says “flagged as junk” – and it is. What’s so scary about a drunk ghost??? Who can’ t wear his sheet appropriately?

Thanks, D. – I remember the kid, not that he messed up the song. Too bad. And I thought he was 16?

Please if you are able to give to the Ronald McDonald House organizations do so in any amount wherever you may reside and $250 does not sound so much to give if you were to experience how far it goes to help mothers and fathers be with their kids. They are a very worthy group this I know for the truth. And if this Seacrest fellow is supporting them then he is alright in my book too as well.

Good Morning.

It’s good to know that Ryan is involved with a great charity.

Good for Josiah that he has a album out and a job. Maybe he can afford a hotel at least and not have to sleep in his car any longer. I thought he was good on AI and liked him. I did feel sorry for him and if I remember correctly, he had no family support.

I too thought Josiah was 16 – whatever, still very young for his situation. He had a good voice, but for some reason really screwed up that last song. When you do “Stand By Me”, done to perfection by both Ben E King and John Lennon, you really need to bring it to the table., I remember his version being just awful, and I was really pulling for him, but thought he was by far the worst that night.

Good Tuesday, y’all,

Yes, Josiah was a very talented kid who played the piano and basically had a breakdown when he got cut. He’s also the one who inexplicably sang with an English accent. I haven’t checked out his latest, but it’s on my list.

Re; Ryan, very awesome that he’s coming back to the old hometown for a charity project. After all, doesn’t charity begin at home? ;)

Morning, all.

Sorry I kinda hijacked yesterday’s thread.

As for Ryan, maybe he’ll bring Julianne Hough with him & Rodney can get a picture! :-)

But knowing someone who spent a great deal of time at the RMH, I can tell you what a blessing it is to parents and children alike.

Deirdre

k&cf…..I completely forgot the English accent. It was like he had learned to sing by listening to old British Invasion albums.

Nana, re the “no family support” issue. My memory(which is sketchy, at best) tells me that he dumped his family, not the other way around. He cried a lot, I think his mom had cancer, but he still wouldn’t go home.

I would never hesitate to donate to the RMH. Every time I see or hear about that place, my heart goes out to the parents who must stay there and I thank God that I have never been one of them.

Josiah is not worth a thread. Remember a year or so ago when he came here and blogged with us? Had to be him, real nutty, and unstable, while thinking that Josiah would be bigger than the Beatles. How is that going so far?

Mercedes, it has to be a real ghost.

Deirdre

There have been a lot of nut cases on the blog…not sure I can pick Josiah out of the bunch. The bigger than the Beatles rings a bell. I know mj has a thing about Josiah…she really likes him and thinks he got a raw deal on Idol. I remember just the opposite. It was like he thought he was so special that he could do things any way he wanted to do them. Not sure what is right or wrong…or even if there is a right and wrong to the situation.

I do not know Ryan Seacrests personal business from that of my nieces son who brings his friend to family gatherings and besides Ryan is doing good work here. But I read an article in the paper here that they closed the Liberace Museum out in that town Las Vegas with all those show girls because they ran out of money. This Lambert kid that everyone is always talking about his business too should do well to remember that Liberace got there first even though he did not talk about his business but everyone knew it except for my mother. And do not be giving money to the museum because they can not use now. So give it instead to the Ronald McDonald House because they can use.

I’m a bit surprised myself. I have been a doubter in the past regarding the accusations, but he’s wearing a pink shirt. That’s all the proof that is needed right? Pink shirt – BOOM case closed??

Yes, that is a topic that I would rather discuss over Josiah “Cry Baby” “I’m better than the band” Lemming.

Deirdre

A lot of men are wearing pink this month, JT. Even NFL players. I’m not sure the Ryan is you know what crowd can use the pink shirt…at least not during Breast Cancer Month.

Mo, is your experience with the RMH personal? I remember you told us about the terrible accident your son had.

Mo Schreibman

Deirdre – yes it is but not here because the accident was in another town. We spent five months there before we all came home. It was a blessing to us for sure, but other families spend years in and out of the Ronald McDonald house. As bad as things can be there is always someone who has it worse than you.

JTesla

Deirdre, so far that is all we got, and to some people that is all the proof that is needed. Actually, many people don’t even need that much “proof” as we’ve seen regarding the Ryan situation.

You won’t catch me wearing pink, it’s just not my color. I stick to the blues and purples, those colors make my eyes ‘pop’. ;)

Mo, 5 months is a long time and I’m so happy that you got your kid back. Like you said, some families depend on the RMH so that they can be there for the end of their child’s life or for illnesses that keep coming back. What a nightmare and how wonderful that there are places a family can call home while they’re living through it.

I never fail to give at least a buck to the Shriners every time they are on the side of the road. There’s a nice story about a little boy, severely burned, who has just returned to school with brand new skin thanks to the Shriner’s Burn Centers.

“Hereafter” is not what you’d expect, which is why the movie is getting mixed reviews. It’s the kind of story I personally love – wildly disparate people taking their time meeting up for a happy ending – and anything by the mature Mr. Eastwood is fine with me,.

Morning!

Mo, I didn’t see the news about “Boy” anywhere. Seems like we lost a lot of older celebs in the past month.

Simon has talked recently about how he always hated the age requirements at Idol. He’s proud of the fact that X Factor has no such requirements. I’m still very wary about kids under 16 competing(I’m not even happy about 17 or younger) but I think an adult, no matter how young or old, should be given the opportunity to compete.

Good Morning.

Sad to hear about Mr. “C” passing away. He was a great on happy Days. I haven’t read ot heard anything about Boy passing away, but did hear about Barbara Billiingsly (June Cleaver).

Watched Oprah yesterday and she had Susan Boyle, little jackie (AGT) and Debby Boone. What a good show it was. Susan sung her newest song, little Jackie did another amazing opera and of course, Debby sung “You Light Up My Life.” No matter how many times I hear that song, it’s still more of my favorites. And at 54, Debby looks great. She said her Dad (Pat Boone) has a new CD coming out next week.

New definition of chutzpah: Virginia Thomas who leaves a voice mail for Dr. Anita Hill, expecting her to ask forgiveness of her husband, Superior Court judge Clarence Thomas, who somehwe got away with sexually harassing Dr. Hill all those years ago.
