Jordin Sparks injures hip on Broadway

jordin-sparks-in-the-heights

Broadway.com reports that Jordin Sparks injured her hip on August 28 during a performance of “In the Heights” on Broadway. Based on existing information, it’s unclear how long she’ll be out.

-I’m trying to get an interview with Adam Lambert for his upcoming appearances in Atlanta Sept. 14 (Atlanta Symphony Hall) and Sept. 15 (The Tabernacle.) I’d say I have  50/50 shot given that tickets are selling well and he does a million interviews. I have been told I can meet opener Allison Iraheta in person. It should be fun to catch up with her.

The weather is great today. Not too humid, maybe a little on the warm side but at least there’s no pollen.

LOL! Ok that one made me laugh.

Get well, Jordin!

Good for Clay!

I hope you get that interview with Adam, Rodney but will be happy to hear from Allison as well. Adam’s tour seems to be doing really well.

I like it that Allison is still out there and is on the bill with Adam. And, Rodney, I do hope you get the interview with Adam.

Once I met the devil, he was mighty slick.
Tempted me with worldly goods, said, you can have your pick.
But when he layed that paper on me and he showed me where to sign;
I said thank you very kindly, but I think I’ve changed my M I N D…..

Just stuck in my head…sorry.

If you get that interview… ask him what he thinks of being referred to as “The guy who came in second to Kris Allen (You know, Kris, the guy who won?”)

Jordin injures her hip? That’s a major injury, right? Her career might be over…

@wreckedpizza…..why should a hip injury be a career ending issue for a singer?

Linebackers need good hips.

Oh I didn’t just go there did I? I’m sure it will “sideline” her Broadway career reboot. She won’t be scoring a “touchdown” with this play at least.

Rodney, if you do the interview with Adam…don’t ask him anything about being the runner up of American Idol. He is really a new artist with new beginnings and an artist who is the star and not the opener of a Glam Nation Tour. Don’t ask him anything about doing a duet with Allison, he’s doing his thing, focus questions about his future tour in Europe, Japon, Hong Kong etc…and even his new album for next year. View youtube with his recent interview with Musiqueplus and with Virgin Radio in Montreal…the interviewers were really great and asked him new questions and not the old ones everyone keeps asking. Canadian interviewers are really savvy, they even gave Adam an MMVA award unlike MTV who didn’t even nominate Adam. Kesha even commented that she had never heard such a male vocalist like Adam before to sing so well and not like the douche bags she hears now.

JTesla

Hey Anne, what color is your unicorn? “Don’t ask him anything about doing a duet with Allison” Why not? “focus questions about his future tour” So, how many times does he have to answer those tired old questions? “He is really a new artist with new beginnings” No, he is Adam Lambert who got his big break on American Idol. You wouldn’t even know him if it weren’t for American Idol so let’s give some props to and maybe a question or two related to AI. Thoughts on the judge shake up, the coffee house feel of just about every artist on there in the last two years (except for Allison and him) All valid questions.

“Canadian interviewers are really savvy, they even gave Adam an MMVA”

Too bad they are still Canadian aye? An MMVA would be a prestigious award, if it weren’t Canadian.

Kesha, WOW way to scrape the bottom of the barrel for a quote. Maybe when she gets some originality and isn’t stealing someone else’s act I’d respect what she says. Can she even sing, or is she an autotune creation?

Rosita… Canadian pirates!

Linny: Kim Kardashian of course. She was robbed because everyone was so jealous of the assets that she brought to the show. Of course now I refuse to watch this coming season because they actually found a person that is duller and less worthy than Palin, The Situation. Way to scrape the bottom.

If you get the interview with Adam, video, please, on that as well, thank you. :)
Please don’t ask him the same old tired questions re Madonna, GaGa, how does he feel about losing to Kris, etc. He’s been asked that ad naseum. Here’s a question – I’m curious why he decided to go barefoot in the first part of his concert, because otherwise he’s dressed to the hilt and in full make-up. Maybe another question would be, has he found people in any part(s) of the country to be any different than maybe he thought they were? Also, did girls react to him pre-Idol in his personal life the way his fans do now? I don’t mean the screaming and such, just did he notice them always being attracted to him?

kumulus

JTesla, he’s already answered the question about a duet with Allison. They are not doing a duet because they already did that on the Idol tour, and he wanted Allison to stand out on her own on his tour.

I naturally won’t harp on old “Idol” questions to Adam. I would focus on what’s happening on “Idol” now and what he is up to. I try to calculate if a celebrity has been asked the same question too many times vs. my need to ask it again. And sometimes, it depends on how they answer the initial question where it goes. Long yawning silences after brief answers usually means: change the topic. I’ve had that happen.

Rickster, re AARP. Stalking is an understatement. We do not belong. Hubby is a firearms enthusiastic and the AARP isn’t. We tend to lean to the right, the AARP leans way left. AAA gives good discounts and stays out of politics for the most part.

Good Morning Everybody.

Today’s Quote: “To truly love something, you must first give it a chance to fail. If it survives, it is going to be stronger than ever.”

Rodney, you just ask the questions you want when you interview Adam. You are the professional here and know how to do your job! You don”t need guild lines or some little twerp telling you who, what or where!

Hopefully, Jordin didn’t injured her hip to badly and will be back on stage shortly.

Besides Fighting Gravity and the young opera singer, it was hard to choose my third favorite because I liked so many of the other acts as well. I ranked Grasso at No. 3. I think the young dancers will make it through, too. Not sure about the piano player. Gibourney Sibini’s mom might sneak in through since voters love singers and the blonde gal and Tim Urban lookalike won’t make it.

Deirdre – are you like me and figuring now that everyone on AGT is just fighting for second place behind Jackie Evancho. The girl has the voice of an angel.

We voted for – in order – Jackie, Michael Grasso, Defying Gravity, Alice Ridley, Alexander Bui. It was a tough decision between Alexander (Piano whiz) and Studio One (dance group) — but in the end it was Alexander’s amazing talent that won out, even if his musical choices are not very astute (after all he is only 16).

He is convinced he needs to chow how technically amazing his skills are (and Pierce is doing nothing but fueling that fire) when he should be picking technically challenging but familiar and listenable pieces. There is no doubt he is one of the best piano players I have ever witnessed, but to anyone other than a true piano lover/afficainado his performance last night probably sounded like a dozen monkeys jumping up and down on the keys in unison.

Thanks for the advice on the AARP, folks. I tend to lean right myself. Own two handguns, a .22 rifle and a vintage (but still fully functioning) shotgun. I would love to see the look on an AARP recruiter should they show up on my doorstep! :-)

On AGT last night, I voted for: Alice Tan Ridley, the aerial act, Michael Grasso, Jackie Evancho & Fighting Gravity. I still think they overloaded this week’s show with way too much talent & not enough last week. Some acts from last night that won’t get through would have if they had been on last week.

Deirdre

The 2 young singers(coffee-housers at best) were not very good last night. And blondie doesn’t strike me as even nearly as innocent as Piers Morgan seems to think.

Re Jackie…did anyone else noticed she cut off her last note because she hit it badly? Smart little girl!

The camera people need to learn how to follow a magician. Grasso was really good last night but the camera work stunk!

I liked the pianist and agree with you, Mike, that he needs to play some audience friendly pieces. I think that’s what he was going for last night but his idea of “audience-friendly” may be slightly off. there are some wonderful, highly recognized, classical pieces that would involve the audience emotionally way more than Flight of the Bumblebees Boogie.

Good morning, all. Here’s a delicious phrase I just read and will share: “delusions of adequacy.” Good, innit? From the “Like the Dew” blog of former AJCers.
The writer in question said that TV news has “delusions of adequacy.” That tickles my lexicon!

Don’t watch AGT regularly but happened to see Jackie Evancho — WOW, double WOW!
