‘American Idol’ producers vow: no Auto Tune!

simon-coweell-981694959Hoping to stem any suspicions here stateside after a furor erupted in the U.K. over Auto Tune usage on “The X Factor” and “Britain’s  Got Talent,” “American Idol” producers released this statement:

“We have never, nor would we ever, use Auto-Tuning during the ‘American Idol’ competition,” producers of the Fox show said in a statement Thursday, referring to pitch-correcting technology.

“American Idol” viewers can attest that contestants have been regularly scolded for “pitchiness.”

As some folks have joked, Auto Tune might have been a friendly pitch-correction tool this past season.

Simon Cowell, who runs both U.K. shows, has not admitted whether he knew about this in advance but has since condemned the practice.

There are even reports that (gasp!) Susan Boyle’s famous audition was tweaked after the fact.

- Bo Bice, Taylor Hicks and Ace Young will be performing on tonight’s CW concert special to help the Gulf Coast after the oil spill.

-Carrie Underwood will be co-hosting the CMA Awards in November with Brad Paisley for a third year. Obviously, the country crowd loves both of them and they have chemistry on stage.

Thanks, Mr. Ho. Appreciate the news and I too say “NO” to auto-tune. I like the occasional pitchiness—-keeps it real.

Don’t understand why the CMAs would want that Paisley character over me. I would really help the telecast be on time as I would just stare at Carrie and have very little to say! I could be the Joe Jonas of the CMA Awards, yeah.

I think Rickster would agree so we are on our way!

Did you meant monosodium glutamate or M.S.G. ?

Umami

August 28th, 2010
8:58 pm

The problem with MSG is not the flavour, it is one of the amino acid required in the body. However glutamic acid is not processed by the body before it is used, thus you can overload on MSG consumed. It is a neurotoxic amino acids, the other two are aspartic acid and L-cysteine meaning it excites your neuro-transmitters. Too much of it will excites your neurons to death over time.
Aspartic acid is found in the sugar substitutes called “neotame” and “aspartame.” Aspartame is found in “NutraSweet” and “Equal.” L-cysteine is most often found as a dough conditioners.

Morning!

Mercedes, I agree that Temple Grandin was a wonderful movie. And wasn’t it great that she was there?

Do the people who vote for the Emmy’s have any concept of how difficult it is to do a live show? The fact that neither AI nor DWTS(or their hosts) have won an Emmy yet is a testament to how clueless (or snobby) the Emmy voters are.

RE the Emmys: The women from Mad Men….oh my goodness! January Jones looked like someone forgot to do her hair AND neglected to tell her that her dress was better suited for a clown in a circus.

As for Christina Hendricks…good lord!!!!! Sorry JT but that was WAY too much cleavage. I read a description that said it looked like someone’s really fat azz was sticking out the front of her dress.

HA! Well, here I am…three days later. Hope everyone had a great weekend. :)

Loved the Emmys last night. Tho, there were a few “dull” moments. 3 Hour show, it’s bound to happen. Wish either Kyle Chandler or Connie Britton had won for Friday Night Lights, but knew it was a long shot. Tho,

And there were Idols on the show, not just Randy “jamming” with Jimmy in the opener. I saw both Kelly and Carrie at the Emmys last night, btw. It was like Where’s Waldo.

Thought the Emmys were pretty entertaining – Jimmy F did a nice job – was fantastic as “Elton John”, wasn’t sure who the other 2 were supposed to be. The song tunes weren’t familiar, nor were the looks.

Glad Kyra S finally won – she’s great in “The Closer”. I have tried several times to watch “Mad Men” – just don’t get it – I find it a total bore!

Sam-A… we’re on the same page… I love Kyra on “The Closer” and havebeen waiting YEARS for her to win. Also find “Mad Men” boring… it was my parents’era, so shoudln’t I love it??

Favorite dresses at Emmys: the ones on Claire Danes, Anna Paquin and January Jones. Also though Betty WHite looked lovely and age-appropriate. Not so Heidi “I’ve Born Four Kids And Can Still Wear A Corset In Public” Klum. And what the heck was on Mrs. Hanks’ feet? Or body for that matter?

MS – I am a child of the 60’s – but the show is so much more 50’s – staid, prim, proper. When the Beatles hit in ‘64, everything changed – much for the better. Skirts went way up, hair came way down, so much more fun! I loved Claire D’s dress, but not so much the other two. The necklace Lea Michele wore was absolutely spectacular! My 2nd choice for actress would have been Julieann M – she’s really teriffic in “The Good Wife”.
