If you are a fan of Taylor Hicks, his harmonica-playing enthusiasm makes for a great promotional spot. If you’re not, well, this won’t change your mind:

Taylor is a good guy.
August 16th, 20106:30 pm
Nice job from Taylor Hicks. Nice to hear that friendly voice of his again, too!
Rosita needs a pied a terre!
August 16th, 20106:56 pm
Smart of him to align himself with such a great cause!
August 16th, 20107:13 pm
Nice. Taylor continues to do so many things for community. The list is quite long, and it’s good to some someone in show business who still “keeps it real” by giving back all the time!
August 16th, 20107:43 pm
Taylor Hicks always keeps it real and gives back to his community!
He’s currently on a nation-wide tour and the dates can be seen at: taylorhicks.com
August 16th, 20108:48 pm
Wait, that was George Clooney in that add, where is the one with Taylor Hicks?
August 16th, 20109:49 pm
Just saw pic of Rooney Mara. NO NO NO, all wrong!!! She’s sweetfaced and brunette. Acerb blonde is the look needed here — like Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction!!!

Rosita…how ya doin? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
August 17th, 20107:20 am
Good Morning Everyone.
Today’s Quote: “Never be afraid to seek the truth, for it’s never as painful and harmful as the untruths, and you will never have to back it up with another truth.”
Good for TH and what he’s doing for the Gulf Coast. No matter what one may think of Taylor’s talent, he is just a good person.
I will be leaving shortly for Dad’s and will be gone until next Monday, so ya’ll will be rid of me until then. Take care and be safe.
August 17th, 20107:32 am
Rosita…did you read Girl With the Dragon Tattoo? Blond? Lizbeth is a tiny, almost waif-like girl who dresses kind of goth with very dark hair and lots of piercings and tattoos. Blond?
Plus, let’s not forget the “magic” of Hollywood.
August 17th, 20107:33 am
We’ll miss you Nana!
August 17th, 20107:57 am
Morning, all. Bye, Nana. Also, add me to the list of MIA today. I am off to do an event for my job. Hope you all have a great day. Oh, yes, it is nice to hear from Taylor Hicks. He is a good guy.
August 17th, 20108:21 am
Funny, Deirdre, I had pictured her as having white blonde hair. Guess I forgot if it said she had dark hair!
August 17th, 20108:22 am
Beg to echo Deirdre of 7:32… Noomi Rapace, who played The Girl in all three Millenium movies, is the embodiment of the books’ heroine – un-Swedish black hair, tiny, with a boyish figure.
August 17th, 20108:26 am
Also beg to differ re Rodney’s last post on previous thread – I really liked “The Big C.” Suspect opinions about the show will break down according to gender and age. The negative reviews I’ve read and heard (on NPR last night) were written by young men, the positive ones by more “mature” women.
August 17th, 20108:41 am
I thought Noomi was too tall and athletic looking. Great actress and very believable in the part, but I was never shocked by her ability to handle the more physical requirements.
August 17th, 20109:01 am
Here ya go JT…. this oughta make your week: http://landing.newsinc.com/shared/video.html?freewheel=69016&sitesection=ndnsubss&VID=92132
And you definitely want to make sure you get the next issue of Allure magazine.
August 17th, 20109:04 am
I still think that I met the girl with the dragon tattoo at a Harley Davidson dealership. She was the cashier!
And I beg to differ, I can’t imagine the “Girl…” movie being any better than it is. You are soooo right Mercedes, Noomi R is absolutely perfect. After a year of mostly drecky movies, this movie was like a wonderful awakening, and I have you to thank – had you not recommended it, I may never have seen it. And lthe 2nd one was almost as good as the first. This actress is totally fearless – I have no idea if she’s bi or not, but she was so believable in love scenes with both the girl and the guy.
I see the American version being a lukewarm, watered-down version, like “Shall We Dance” and other US remakes.
And, it was announced that Michael Douglas is being treated for throat cancer – I hope all goes well with him. He’s a really good actor, and a cool guy to boot. Have liked him since “Streets of San Fran”.
August 17th, 20109:11 am
Good job by Taylor Hicks—-makes me really want to go to the beach!
August 17th, 20109:19 am
I’ll be interested to see what they do with the script for the English version. As I’ve said before, the last moments of Martin Vanger were not true to the book and took liberties, imo, with Lisbeth’s character. Also, the final torture scene was not nearly as terrifying as in the book. Writing a script from a novel is a difficult thing. The Swedish film did a really good job but I’m looking forward to seeing what the English version script writers do.
August 17th, 20109:24 am
I remember reading this conversation before, oh yeah it was during filming of Lord of the Rings and all the nerds over analyzed every casting choice, especially Liv.
August 17th, 20109:33 am
Sam-A -so glad you found and liked “The Girl” movies!
Have you seen “Let the Right One In”? Another Swedish movie Americanized; US version opens Oct 1 and will be called “Let Me In”.
In the Millenium books, Lisbeth is 4′11″ and a 90-pounder. Hard to find an actress that size in Sweden where girls all seem to be 6 feet tall! I thoght Noomi was pretty convincing,, although she’s 5′7″.
Robin Wright has signed on to play Erika Berger, Michael’s editor and long-time lover. Erika is modeled after author Stieg Larsson ’s real life long-time lover, Eva Gabrielson, who helped him write the books. Because Stieg and Eva weren’t married, and he hadn’t written any will when he died, she has been excluded in the division of his estate. All the proceeds from books and films go to Stieg’s estranged brother and father. But, in Eva’s possession: an unfinished fourth novel!
August 17th, 20109:37 am
JT…I thought Liv was perfection! Don’t know what Peter Jackson did or said to her but she was so lovely and gentle and that language coming out of her mouth was beautiful!
August 17th, 20109:45 am
Have not seen (or even heard of) “Let the Right One In” , but now will look for it.
I saw “Eat, Pray..” Sunday, and actually enjoyed just sitting and enjoying beautiful scenery. Not a movie for someone who has to have action at every scene, but a nice, slow, serene movie.
Heard on the radio this am that Sly hopes to make that new movie into a franchise like the Rocky series. Hmmmmm.
August 17th, 201010:05 am
This made me laugh out loud. Are people really so stupid that they think their pictures posted on the internet are private?
August 17th, 201010:14 am
JT???? Who’s your buddy? http://www.foxnews.com/slideshow/entertainment/2009/07/17/lovely-talented-kim-kardashian/#slide=1
And just to prove this link belongs here, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” is executive produce by Ryan Seacrest, isn’t it?
August 17th, 201010:15 am
Was listening to “Randy & Spiff” yesterday morning, and Spiff called it “Eat, Pray, ask for a refund.”
August 17th, 201010:20 am
Rickster: it’s Idol related!
Deirdre: exactly, which agrees with a prior point of yours. When Liv was announced for the part the fan sites blew up as if Peter came to each fans house and kicked their dog while punching their mother in the junk. When a picture of Liv holding a sword leaked, I think some people actually moved to Canada out of protest, but as we know it all turned out ok. Same will probably be true for this dragon girl.
August 17th, 201010:22 am
Heck… just to make it full circle… maybe they could have Kim K as one of the judges – as long as she doesn’t have to talk.
August 17th, 201010:23 am
Rickster – ever get the idea through all these years that Spiff is always a bit “wired” – bet he doesn’t sit still 5 minutes at a time. Not a guys movie, but very calming and pleasant. Nice sitting in a cool theater with a diet coke and bag of popcorn and forgetting the 90+° outside the theater.
August 17th, 201010:41 am
Re idiot mother posting drug toys with baby – parenting skills come hard to some people.
In other, salacious news: Big Poppa, the invisible married boyfriend to one of the Atlanta “housewives”, is said to have moved into a “mediterranian villa”, with marble driveway, across from the Governor’s mansion. Don’t know if the housewife is still in the picture. Is that show still on, by the way?
August 17th, 201010:55 am
Read that Kim whatshername from RHOA was at the Falcon’s camp the other day.
Press release from the team said that new team records were set for shortest practice and fastest team average in “sprint to the locker room” as they hurried to escape.
August 17th, 201010:57 am
Sigh… the Real Housewives are coming back.
Anyway, new blog entry and I’m sorry it’s more Fantasia. I’m playing right into her hands but I can’t help myself! But to balance it off, I have included Kris Allen’s new video.
