As usual, “American Idol” received its fair share of Emmy nominations: six, to be exact.
But the show has had a fairly miserable track record in wins. It always loses to “The Amazing Race” for best reality program and Ryan Seacrest cedes to Jeff Probst of “Survivor” among reality show hosts.
So far, I could find records of a measly two Emmy wins for “Idol” over the years: in 2007 for Outstanding Technical Direction for “Idol Gives Back” and in 2009 for Outstanding Directing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special. There might have been more but I haven’t been able to find them.
The best reality program included the usual suspects: “Amazing Race,” “American Idol,” “Project Runway,” “Top Chef” and “Dancing With the Stars.” Oddly missing this year: “Survivor.”
The show airs on NBC August 29.

Fail.
Good for Idol, but this year they don’t deserve to win. Of course that means that this will probably be the year that they do.

No way Seacrest(who I think should have won this award in the past) should win this year. He was weird!

I was still first! Just couldn’t figure out how to post from my iphone!
Ryan should get only the Pants on the Ground/Actin’ like a Fool award for this past season.

Congratulations Rosita, even though it was an epic fail, you were FIRST! For being first you won 5 internets! What will you do with your prize?
Agree regarding Ryan. In the past he deserved it, this year he should hang his head in shame. Then he should berate the directors and producers for not providing better contestants.

Yeah, Ryan may not have been at his best this season, but I think he still deserves it over any “host” who isn’t involved with a live show. How many takes does Jeff Probst (a perennial winner) get? No one knows.
I do agree that Idol shouldn’t get jack for the Sound Mixing category! The audio sucked this season!

not just this year (sound) Highlander, the last 2 or 3 years it’s gotten worse and worse, but it started, imho, to REALLY suck when they moved the band “upstairs”. it’s just WRONG!
