Fantasia’s new video for ‘Bittersweet’

I really picked a good week to NOT be in Atlanta, eh? I missed Kris Allen (Alpharetta AT&T store), Jordin Sparks (Six Flags Over Atlanta) and Kellie Pickler (opening for Rascal Flatts Sunday night). I’m seriously bummed. But Kris is back next month and I’ll be here for Adam Lambert’s concert in September, for sure.

Fantasia’s single “Bittersweet” gets a video:

Regular reader Lara pointed out that season 3 contestant and TV host Matt Rogers is a Bosley Hair Replacement spokesman.

Not all that crazy about Fantasia’s song…maybe it’s just that I don’t really like her voice.

As for Matt…well, I guess if he’s going to be a Discovery Channel host, it would be to his advantage to have hair.

Well, he will never have Ryan Seacrest hair, but he is working on being an all around show host!

is it my computer, or is it real….in any event, F’s green teeth is really off-putting, lol. and D, i’ve NEVER really appreciated F’s voice, b/c while she CAN sing in some registers, she seems to think that louder and higher is best. I can’t get past that most of the time.

funny about Matt, gotta love it, get what work you can, and besides, if it DOES work for him, he looks better!!! D– either have hair or NOT have hair, but in between kinda doesn’t work!

Mercedes, went back and saw your note on K&D, thanks! i musta missed it. And my reasons for not “really” being a Cruise fan are VERY similar to those you put forth, LOL! and i’ve READ all the dianetics and other hubbard fiction writings…

*shrug* still don’t get it.

anywho…. lunch break so gotta run eat, just thought i’d drop in for a sec!

Always good to hear from you linny!

I’m not a big Cruise fan either but only in the last few years when he seems to have lost his mind. I DO like his attempts at comedy lately, he has a knack. And K & D looks like a fun movie despite the less than stellar reviews. I will definitely see it or catch it on dvd.

So, where did that hair, for the hair replacement, come from?

Good Monday Blog News: Rodney is back, WITH A NEW THREAD
Bad MBN: It’s a Fantasia video.

“She CAN sing in some registers” – that’s being generous linny! I hear her sing in one, and it’s an unpleasant, “nails-on-the-chalkboard” kind. I know we’ve beaten this thing to death, but please remind me again, except for a decent rendition of “Summertime”, what did she do to win AI that year?

Back hair – barf.
Lower?
Please people, it’s Monday. a new week, with Rodney at the helm again (and you should read his excellent story on CNN’s new debate team) – let’s not descend into the potty realm of this past weekend!

I’m shocked that I am the one who has taken to the potty realm. Me? How did that happen?

JT – UG! Just finished lunch and you’ve put me on vomit watch! Lets think about the girls in India who grow long beautiful (and some of it curly, yes) hair and sell it to support their families. This may have been imported (a much nicer vision)

Ewwwww. Y’all totally lost me with this topic.

Wreckedpizza, I think I do have your Selective Reading Syndrome. Thus, I’m gonna stick with “Carrie and puppies” instead of “Matt Rogers’ back hair.”

Pretty pictures of Carrie and Kellie occasionally have to be offset by videos of Fantasia and Matt Rogers’ hair (or lack thereof)

Sam, re Indian girls selling their beautiful hair: did you see Chris Rock’s documentary “Good Hair” from last year? Very informative; it’s amazing the amount of pain and money black women invest in their hair styles. And yes, they use (East) Indian hair.

Dear Rodney, Yes, but you forgot another option: the Original Recipe Idol, Kelly! ;)

For me, once a thread degrades to a certain point (1 day) it’s time for a new one. Even if the new one features Mr. Forgotten Idol Matt Rogers.

If it weren’t for the low points (pictures, videos, etc.) of folks like Fantasia and “the guy who finished second to Kris Allen (you know, Kris, the guy who actually won?) we wouldn’t appreciate the shots of Carrie, etc.

Who am I kidding?

Even without the low points (pictures, videos, etc.) of folks like Fantasia and “the guy who finished second to Kris Allen (you know, Kris, the guy who actually won?) OF COURSE we’d appreciate the pics of Carrie!

The Fantasia song sounds utterly generic to me.

Mercedes S – yes I did see the film. It made me ill to see what some of these women go thru, and especially the tiny little girls whose Moms make them have that dreadful lye put on their tender little heads. I’ve enjoyed having straight shiny hair all my life, so I’d probably have gone thru the same had my circumstances been different, but having seen the absolute torture, it makes you appreciate “kinky” hair more on the women who refuse to do it.

It seems to me that Fantasia peaked during the final competition. Since then, she’s been a non-factor.

okay okay so i was trying to be **nice** … except for summertime (and even listening back to that, it was more the PERFORMANCE than the actual singing that won me over for that one time.

I don’t know what she had — but i saw that she looked like “the winner” from the first audition. maybe the sobstory? but i got REALLY tired of “single mom slums poor struggling singer” stuff REALLY quickly. Choice. It’s about choice. While circumstances DO happen **to** people, more often it’s one’s choices that lead to those circumstances. I’m just saying… Lord knows I’ve made my personal share of BAD choices and ill-advised choices and jus plain ol’ WRONG choices. And I’ve paid my dues, but I ain’t singin’ the blues, cuz I got the news from the pews that …. shoot i lost my train of thought!!!!

grin…. huggles to all!!! just waiting to leave the office, boss told me i had to stay to finish sumfin up…

Fantasia is a R&B singer. This video is wonderful and because you do not follow her music and her career never assume that she has not been extremely busy. Carrie Underwood is a country singer and a lot of people do not like Country Music even though I actual do. Fantasia is a beautiful BLACK women and you can not compare her to Carrie Underwood because they come from two different races. Carrie Underwood is also a beautiful WHITE women. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so a lot the the comments on this site lets me know exactly who you are. People in this country need to stop looking at the outside of people and not judge, but look at what is underneath the skin to see the beauty and grace that is really there in all cultures and races!!!

I think the reason the color is so weird is that she’s green with envy that Diana’s had a better post-idol career. :-)

And Joan… I couldn’t care less what race/nationality/etc. any contestant is. I judge (for lack of a better word) on their talent. I think Fantasia is not a good (much less great singer) singer. Jennifer Hudson could out-sing Fantasia with a sore throat & sinus infection.

Fantasia won AI because she can SING! Just because the majority of you don’t like her voice, others do or she wouldn’t still have a recording contract. Kelly and Carrie are great in their genre of music Fantasia in hers.

And Rickster…. Jennifer Hudson and Fantasia are two of the best singers out there today. They both have different styles of singing and sound completely different. Once again you can not compare the two against each other. I am glad to hear that their race does not have anything to do with your comment. I just wish that people would stop comparing singers against each other. Both of these ladies have their own distinct sound which actually makes them both unique. Fantasia is a natural down to earth artist. Unfortunately you have probably never attended one of her concerts because if you had your opinion more than likely would be completely different.
