Bo Bice interview for release of new album ‘3′
Bo Bice’s “American Idol” journey is already five years in the past, but Bice himself is only looking forward – and thinking in threes.
He and his wife just had their third boy. He is releasing his third album today called “3.” “And I’m a huge Dale Earnhardt fan,” he said in an interview last week. It’s being released through Saguaro Road Records (the Blind Boys of Alabama, Tanya Tucker, Lonestar) in association with Bice’s own Sugar Money Records.
Bice, who resided in tiny Helena, Ala. when he was on “Idol,” now lives with his family on a seven-acre lot about a half hour outside of downtown Nashville with a host of cows, deer, rabbit and squirrels. His studio is 45 feet from the back of the house. Although not directly affected by the recent Nashville floods, he is giving the proceeds to one of his songs “Long Road Back” and an upcoming benefit concert to help those in need.
“We love this community,” he said. “It’s a community we’ve worked hard to make sure our people are taken care of.”
He has always felt pride for Carrie Underwood, who won “Idol” the year he came in second place. “I wouldn’t want Carrie’s schedule for anything,” he said. “She’s the hardest working woman in show business. She’s a beautiful, sweet girl. I knew her well before we were in the top 10. I always knew she was a star and she has proven that.”
Bice remains healthy after he had intestinal surgery in 2006. “Three years, I’ve had a clean bill of health,” he said. “I don’t do liquor. I drink a little wine and beer. And I’m not burning the candles on both ends. It’s amazing when you finally get your world straightened out and stop abusing your body.”
He has just released a mid-tempo single to country radio “You Take Yourself With You,” though he isn’t sure when a video will be shot. He said the album is a mix of his Southern rock, country and a bit of gospel. “It’s a much broader spectrum” than previous efforts. Since album sales are not going to generate much income, he has to make up for that through tour sales, merchandise and downloads. He blogs and interacts with fans through bobice.com and his Twitter page.
He also holds two parties a year for his fan club members: one around Christmas and one during Fan Fair on June 12 at Limelight that will become a benefit concert for MusiCares.
Bice has no Atlanta concert dates set up just yet but will be in town to visit family and friends in a few weeks. He grew in the Cumming area from age 8 to 12 and his mom still lives there.
And as noted before, he has no regrets about his own career path: “Not only do I get to do what I love in this business but I get to be a dad and a husband.”

Congrats on the “shout out”, Rodney. Idol Chatter is the other place I look to for AI informatiion. USA Today and ajc are my two most visited websites (with ajc.com #1, of course!).
Hope Bo Bice does well with his new release. Wish he were on the results show instead of that Bieber person.
Oh, and Bo kinda looks like Jesus so he should be fine…

BTW, LOST: D, I too will be doing the same. I did make a really sweet discovery. If anyone of you has a Wii. You can get the Nexflix disc for instant streaming on your Wii. Meaning, you can have LOST on demand. It is awesome, and it’s really how I plan on watching. The lowest plan is like 9 bucks a month. Which, if you get hooked (like we did) would probably be way cheaper to do than buying or renting them. And no, I do not work for Netflix.
And from the previous thread: my staying out of politics is a personal choice, I don’t care if y’all talk about it. You know, freedom of speech and all that jazz. Wait, what IS that?

So, MTV has an interesting article regarding Lee’s “new single” and previous record deal. I did not know that his band’s second album came out in January of this year. They have remastered the single and sent it out to local stations in Chicago.

People magazine has given cryptic hints for the persona; song choices tonight. Lee is singing a sentimental classic rock tune that he speeds up a bit. Casey chose and upbeat song to do with his amp on stage and he gets into a groove that will have people standing up and dancing. Crystal has picked a song by a female she admires and will use both her guitar and her harmonica.

Rx, that’s the million dollar question. As far as I know, it was a former contract. A few former Idols had stuff recorded but none of it was re-released until Adam’s last year. But that, I believe, was releasing material he’d recorded but that hadn’t been out there before. Lee’s case is interesting, imo, because they’re re-releasing the album and the single, “Princess.” That I can’t recall happening before…

Rx…it’s neither former labels or contracts. It’s a rule against CURRENT contracts. Many former Idols have hels and lost contracts before they join the show.

On USA Today’s “Idol Meter”, Lee DeWyse gets exactly 1 point. Crystal got 64; Casey 30.
UT comments: “Outlook: Subpar showings sometimes have a cumulative effect. Still. Lee’s combination of apparent fan and Idol establishment support should keep him in the running until the end.

All I can say is that the person who gets the boot tomorrow… get your paint mixing or guitar playing skills ready. 3rd place is the land of the lost for Idol. Better to finish 2nd or 4th.

Angela Martin was no more talented than Crystal or Didi. Or Lilly. And she had major problems to deal with so I don’t blame Idol for not taking her.
And contrary to hating this season, I have enjoyed it. There’s always something to keep my interest, good or bad. I said before that this season will probably be one of my least favorites but I also said, it hasn’t hurt the entertainment value for me. So far, I have always enjoyed idol and I did this season as well.

Deirdre, I wish I could look at it that way. Granted there is still entertainment value, or else I would have turned it off. However, with Randy’s booing, Ryan’s… whatever, and the director/producer misteps there have been points that are downright unentertaining.

I try to maintain my sense of humor when it comes to Idol. From Sanjaya, to Chicken Little to Ryan’s apparent melt-down, the show has always been campy. Part of the appeal for me is you never know for sure what’s going to happen.
With Idol pledging to at least try to go back to focusing on the contestants, I have hopes that next season will give us a lot of really talented singers, less judging by the panel and more singing by the contestants.
30 minute result show will help. Someone(anyone) who can run a tighter ship would REALLY help. Ryan would be back under control and doing the job he was hired to do. The judges would come to understand that we don’t watch the show to hear what they have to say. The contestants would get the chance to SING for more than 30 seconds.
Either that, or Idol will go away and I’ll watch X Factor.
