Katharine McPhee goes back to brunette

It’s the weekend so I’ll keep it lght: Katharine McPhee has gone back to brunette after a few inexplicable months as a blonde. Here she is at the Us Weekly Hot Hollywood Style party last week:

An improvement? A past poll I posted here definitely favored McPhee as a brunette.

Definitely better brunette but what is that she’s wearing? A babushka? Don’t tell Siobhan or first thing you know she’ll have one on too!

Isn’t babushka a triangular headscarf worn under the chin? Or is that the Russian word for grandmother?

definitely better as a brunette, but much better with her hair down, not all crammed up in a mess, imho

and it’s both a triangular head scarf tied under the chin AND a russian grandmother/old lady

So right, Linnita, and it looks as if Kat has the grandmother concealed under the scarf on her re-browned hair! snort

Kat is definitely better as a brunette.

But she does seem to need a bit of help in the wardrobe department. If you look at the full length photos of that dress on MJ’s blog you see what a shapeless mess it really is.

Can you say “fashion victim”??!!

You worry about brunette against blonde. Learn bacha bazi and you know real worry. Babushka not for Amercian woman. No laugh subject.

Rodney, Rodney, Rodney, listen up yo. You know I love you dawg, but this has to be the weakest performance yet. Four sentences, and you had some pitch problems there, I’m just not feeling it. For me, for you, for me, it just didn’t work dawg.

However, I can’t complain too much about a picture of McPhee, even if her hair looks dumb in that style.

In the words of Simon Cowell, this blog entry felt “lazy to me. Short on content and substance. I think you might be in trouble with America this week, Rodney.”

As for Kat, she looks good blond, brunette, or sans hair. Just sayin’—she’s kinda purty. Wardrobe help? How about just losing the wardrobe altogether. Works for me. Mmmm-hmmm.

i refrained while reading this morning from responding to our obviously foreign visitor. i was ready to do the so what do YOU do for entertainment rant, but realized it would not be seen by the person who needs to see it. we all KNOW there are many many serious problems throughout the world. THIS place is a “refuge” to relax and enjoy more mundane moments in life. even the most troubled, most difficult life finds time to do the same. unfortunately often it’s through drugs/alcohol or other dangerous avenues. this one is a rather safe place to hide for a few moments away from whatever problems one might have.

if Shajeela returns, perhaps she will see this and be more understanding.

Just checking in, as I say hello and goodbye… and wonder WHO is Shaleeja??? If it is someone unpleasant, I don’t need to know. Just finished watching tonights epi of the Tudors, and that was unpleasant (and historically wrong) enough.

Morning everyone. I am not looking forward to the Shania songbook. I am not a fan of her music. I realize it was popular in its day, but most of the songs, with about two exceptions, leave me cold. I think the Idols might have a bit of trouble with this one. Two of her songs are so cliche, that I would hate to see either Siobhan or Crystal do either one–”Man, I Feel Like a Woman,” and “It Don’t Impress Me Much.” Yuk.

Morning!

We’re off to a slow start today.

I have a mile long list of things that I need to get done today so I will be in and out. First, the return of the newlyweds from their honeymoon followed quickly by the official closing of the artist formerly known as Mr Hollywood’s apartment in CA. This requires paperwork and certified checks and a walk-through by the leasor and the leasee. He’ll be making a quick trip to L.A. soon.

I’ll be back!

Slow, indeed, Dierdre! In my previous post I said I was not a fan of Twain’s music. However, I found her to be one of the best guest judges Idol has ever had. Just to clear up that it not her I object to–just her songs, mostly.

American Idol Auditions we’d love to have seen: Billy Idol

Randy: “Dawg… the look reminds me of Sid Vicious. The sneer reminds me of Elvis. Now I never worked with either of them, but I have worked with Mariah Carey. But for me.. it was just a’right.”

Paula: “I love how you get your hair to stand up all ’spikey’ like that.”

Simon: “Look, the punk biker look is so yesterday. The whole thing seems rather indulgent. And if I sang like that, I’d be “Dancing with myself” too.

Well Harriett, guess I’ll take the other side of the street—-I love Shania’s songs. She may not have as wide a discography as someone else, but there are some good songs in there. “Still The One”, “It Only Hurts When I Breathe”, “The Woman In Me”, just to name a few.

American Idol contestants are asked to take on Beatles, Stones, big band and other types of music, so why not Shania music? Works for me…should be interesting.

Randy: “Dawgs, you do realize this isn”t ‘Battle of the Bands’, right?”

Simon: “What I like about you? Nothing – other than the fact you’re leaving.”

Randy: :Yo…. I gotta admit, not my favorite audition of the day. It was a’right. But you look HOT! So one million, billion percent yes!”

Paula: “I like the name “Shania” – it reminds me of Shiny – like my jewelry.”

Simon: “Lets be honest. If you looked like Roseanne Barr and sang like that… I’d say no. But you look hot… so I’ll say absolutely 100 percent yes!”

wrecked, I love a few of her slower songs. I just hate the ones with “attitude.” I don’t find those enjoyable at all. I just think there is not enough variety among her “known” songs. But, in listening to snippets from some of her limited album releases, I found some obscure ones that caught my attention. I especially loved “The Heart is Blind.” I believe that was the name of it. Just me, I know. I respect her as an artist and a judge of talent, and figure she will probably be a good mentor, if her judging is any indicator.

Kudos, Rickster. It was entertaining whether I agree or not. Especially like the Paula comment; I can just visualize her saying that!

I know a lot of people that do not care for Shania’s songs/voice so you are probably spot-on with that. I like her voice (and looks, of course) and, as I said earlier, think she has some really good songs. Just my opinion.

Gotta catch some zzzzzz’s now. Have a great Monday afternoon.

I think Shania’s an okay-to-good singer – not a great singer. (I can come up with probably 10 – 12 female country singers who I think are better singers.)

I think a great deal of her success is owed to her looks and the prominent role they play in her videos (”Man, I Feel Like A Woman” anyone?) But, you play up your assets.

If she wasn’t as attractive, she’d be a lot less well know.

But ya gotta admit… she looks good! :-)

Hey y’all,

Quiet day here in blogland, eh? Well, tonight could be good. I think having some selections that aren’t as well known could give the Idols the chance to shine…as opposed to the “we’ve heard this a million times before and you didn’t add anything new to it” that we usually get. Or maybe I’m too optimistic?

BTW, Rickster, Paula: “I like the name “Shania” – it reminds me of Shiny – like my jewelry.”

 That’s so close it’s almost scary!

Good points made Harriett and Rickster. I understand what you are saying. I also wish Shania had a larger catalog of songs, but she doesn’t. I also admit her looks (and Mutt Lange) played into her success. But, I also know that the two occasions I have seen her live, I enjoyed her singing and performance immensely.

Just wish Katie Stevens was still here; she could probably do a Shania tune well…

Anyway, I’m really going away now. Stay classy, AI blogland.

Randy: “Dude…. that was scary. Intense, and the guitar playing was smokin’ molten lava hot. But dude, that was scary”

Simon: “Well… that was certainly… interesting. Please don’t hurt me.”

Nice song, Harriett, just wish it had had different lyrics. So over the “stand by your man” stuff. Kudos to the Swedish princess who broke off her engagement when she found out, very publicly, that her jerk fiance had been unfaithful.

And Rickster, had a feeling, early on in the “Tudors” , when Henry’s sis was married off to the wrong king, that the truthfulness of the show was going to be on par with the hodge-podge of “The Other Boleyn Girl”, but Sunday’s episode went beyond the pale.

Makes me think that that the screenwriters were told to forget everything they’d ever heard about Henry VIII and his wives, except for the order mantra ( “divorced, beheades, died/ divorced, beheades, survived”), and just “go have fun with it, add as much sex and gore as you want. Then add some more.”

Is it just me – or has the fact that Ms. McPhee’s dad is still a Fox producer driven so much tabloid fodder for her exposure benefit? That may be justified for JLo or Ms. Jolie – but not for Kat Freekin McPhee.

I am not, and have never been affected with McPheever. The right man won. Nuf’ Ced.
