TMZ report: ABC offers Paula $1 million development deal, Tommy Mottola latest rumored Simon replacement

TMZ said ABC has been chasing after Paula Abdul with a $1 million development deal contingent upon her appearing on “Dancing With the Stars.” Simon Cowell is also chasing after her to do “X Factor.”

Nikki Finke on Deadline Hollywood said Simon Cowell arrived at the first day of Hollywood rounds 90 minutes late earlier this month. This was Ellen DeGeneres’ first day and she got peeved because she has to do double duty with her talk show. She also said the first choice to succeed Simon Cowell is former Sony music chief Tommy Mottola, who once was Mariah Carey’s husband. Cowell also wants Mottola on “X Factor.” Nikki has built up amazing sources in Hollywood and is often fairly accurate.

And CBS has released some photos of Carrie Underwood as a flight attendant on “How I Met Your Mother.” The episode is set to air in March.

Carrie HIMYM

Carly Smithson, former metro Atlanta denizen (briefly at least), is now lead singer of  We are the Fallen , will be at Center Stage May 3. I am looking forward to seeing that!

And while we’re dealing with Neil Patrick Howser… when is his “guest judge” stint set to air?

I can just see the back and forth between Randy & Tommy:

Randy: “You know… I’ve worked with Mariah Carey, and that song was just too big for you.”

Tommy: “Worked with her? I’ve slept with her!”

This is all getting kind of incestuous and icky.

OMG, thank you for coming back Rodney. Wowza!

So X-Factor and Idol will be competing for judges? I think Idol will lose. Except if they get Paula, so maybe they will just break even.

Pernell Roberts was my first Idol crush…saw “The Brothers Cartwright” as the show was known, in the Old Country. I must have been 8. So sad the whole TV-family is gone now.

Imho, Tommy Mottola would not be a good Second Simon. He’s not pretend-mean.

Nobody would be a good Second Simon. That’s why they need to kill the show after he leaves… or kill the four-judge format!

So Ellen got peeved at Simon’s tardiness! Wonder how many times she has been tardy for something.

As the new kid on the block, I don’t think she should have let her peevishness show so much. Maybe he thought she needed to be put in her place. The more I hear, the more it sounds like Simon is really just going through the motions. I hope it does not translate to his relationship to the contestants.

Mercedes, in memory of Pernell Roberts (the cool brother) I’ve changed my desktop background to a picture of the cast of Bonanza. Now there was a good show.

Ellen peeved? Maybe she is starting early to fill Simon’s shoes.

Mercedes, “for me” Pernell Roberts was “the sexy one.” I know most of my girlfriends of the day thought Michael Landon was. Roberts always seemed like he knew a secret that nobody else knew.

Frankly I would have been more than peeved if someone showed up 1 1/2 hours late after I’d adjusted my schedule to make room for him! I think Simon was rude. But, what else is new.

Also, I’ve heard that Carrie doesn’t play a flight attendant on HIMYM but a drug rep who dresses like a 60’s flight attendant. Whatever….I think I had that same outfit in ‘68.

As for Tommy Mattola…I’d have to see him as a judge first to make any decisions about whether or not he could be on the panel.

D, I know my sister had an outfit like that one!! :)

I don’t blame her for being peeved, but it wasn’t cool, IMO, to let it show before she even got started. Simon? What can you say?

There is always some drama, and the judge drama is overtaking the contestant drama.

I also liked Parnell Roberts as Trapper John better than Adam Cartwright. Still, he was a very sexy cowboy! :)

I always like Hoss best. He was a over-sized, good-natured, good-hearted guy who always tried to do the right thing – even if he got a little confused about what the right thing was.

Kinda like me! :-)

Nice, how everybody has fond memories from “Bonanza”… According to the New York Times’ obit, Pernell Roberts left the show early for a variety of reasons: “He had battled with the producers over the dearth of nonwhite actors and crew members on the show, and complained that the scripts were unchallenging for both actors and audiences. Actually his words were harsher than that: ‘Junk TV’ he called the show, accusing NBC, the network that broadcast it, of ‘perpetuating banality and contributing to the dehumanization of the industry’.”

Hmmm, I still loved the show…

Second hmm, NBC, isn’t that Conan’s former network?

Hey y’all,

Well, Rodney, have I mentioned how glad I am you’re back? Not that I didn’t love D’s commentary, but she was great content w/o pretty pictures…

The thing is, can Paula DO DWTS? Hasn’t she had lots of back problems and thus why she’s needed a “lil help?” Besides, wouldn’t she technically be considered a pro?

Tommy Mottola? Really? Um…I don’t know about that.

I believe We Are The Fallen has released a single. Has anyone had a chance to hear it? I haven’t, and I’m wondering it it’s an Evanescence 2.0…

Harm and Nana, I hate to be the one to spoil the ending but it always ends the same: he picks one, they give it a try, then end up going their separate ways and are very bitter about the whole thing. There, one less show you need to watch, glad I could help. Not that I mind the comments, but I have to be me.

Nice to see you Eclecticdiva.

Who are the guest judges this week? Neil Patrick Harris? If so just repost this picture please.

Harm LOL. Now *that* is the honest truth.

Carrie and Judy Jetson? I like that. PS. Did y’all hear she supposedly attached to some surfer movie, Soul Surfer? It’s based on the story of a 13-year old girl who had her arm bit off by a shark out in Hawaii.

…and JT/Rickster, just google Carrie + Bahamas for reference. You are welcome. ;)

K&Cfan, that is the absolute truth as to why I watch reality shows. I really get amazed as how low people will stoop to get their 15 mins. of fame. I’m not too sure that I would be willing to appear on one of these shows even if massive amounts of money were included, even though I could definitly use massive amounts of money. Couldn’t we all?

Rickster

I’d try out for a game show… but not a reality show.

I worked with a guy many years ago who wound up on “The Bachelorette” – going by the name of “Munch.”

Of all the people I’ve ever known… it surprises me the least that he’d wind up on a reality show.

k&cf ; I remember seeing the 13 y/o after the shark attack. She is a tiny petite blond. She didn’t waste anytime getting back the board. She is an amazing little girl. I don’t think I would have gone back surfing with the sharks.

BTW, JT, I know that I spelled Bachelor wrong. More than the fact they humiliate themselves, some make a fool out of themeselves. I’m totally with Harm on the entertainment of the show.

About time to call it a day and head home, so everybody have a great evening and be ready to apply your fingers to the keys tonight. Be safe when on the roads.

Agreed, Harm. The only thing I’d try out for would be a game show? I mean, I can’t sing, I’m not funny, I don’t weigh 400lbs, and I don’t live in Jersey. That pretty much eliminates me from basically everything.

I’d love to get on “Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader.” I know you can’t win $1,000,000 anymore… but $250,000 would still help! :-)

Don’t get me started on John’s cult.

The Hoff! He’d do the Idol gig for a box of hamburgers and a shirt. Oh and enough booze to fill a walrus exhibit at the local zoo. He knows music too, he was big in Germany you know. Sit the Hoff next to Ellen, now that would be priceless.
