Kelly Clarkson at the Loft for Q100 concert December 14

Kelly Clarkson gave a lucky 400 or so Q100 fans a mini-concert tonight at the Loft in Midtown.

Clarkson complained of the heat in the tiny venue, waving her hands in front of head between songs. But she was in good spirits, kept noting how she didn’t need to sing because the audience was doing it for her. Her vocals were about 90 percent there, a little raspy. She hit most of her notes, but went an octave lower for the big note on “Since U Been Gone.”

She opted for “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” as her Christmas tune and chose “Chivas” as her deep cut (which our regular Kelly&CarrieFan requested in the front row!). Here are more photos taken by our Robb Cohen.

Here are the six songs she sang:

“I Do Not Hook Up”

“Since U Been Gone”

“Already Gone”

“I’ll Be Home For Christmas”

“Chivas” (a rarity she hadn’t sung in awhile)

“My Life Would Suck Without You”

Nice, thank you Rodney. It looks like she had a good time, and she looks good too! I don’t think she was joking when she said “how she didn’t need to sing because the audience was doing it for her”

Wow, lucky peeps! Kelly sounds incredible on these videos. That is an amazing rendition of I’ll Be Home For Christmas. The best I’ve ever heard. Does she have an Xmas album out?

I was there right in front of her! A girl I met in line and I asked Kelly for Chivas and she did it! Amazing night, amazing performance…right before she sang My Life Would Suck Without You, she pointed at me and said, “I know YOU know this one!” She also took my hand and smiled….such an amazing treat. There was really nothing to say, but “wow…” Cory (guitar player) ended up throwing his pick at me, so I came away with a little souvenir.

I am waaaay more excited than I sound, but I’m also pretty exhausted. It was SO worth it! :)

Good Morning Everybody.

Today’s Quote: “Good news from Heaven the angels bring; Glad tidings to the earth they sing. To us this day a child is given; To crown us with the joy of Heaven.”

k&cf – Have you came back to earth yet? So glad that you truly had a good time.

RoHo – Many thanks for the videos, report and pictures. She looks amazing. That girl is so down to earth one can’t help but admire and like her, She hasn’t let fame and fortune spoil her one iota. Other stars need to take a page from Kelly’s book! :)

Rodney, no video of Chivas? I am SO disappointed. That’s my favorite song. EVER. Looks like Kelly was in fine form and I’m so excited for K&C Fan. Wish I had been there.

I was going between taking pictures and doing video. I’m sorry I skipped “Chivas.” But it’s cool that Kellie&Carrie fan was one of the requesters!

way to go K&C!!!!!!! soooooo happy for you!!! thanks Rodney for the sweet write-up too.

Wasn’t overly impressed with the 8 groups chosen for sing-off. some were better than others, but 4 of the groups were college glee/acappella groups (BYU, Lee College, Tufts, and a SoCal alum group) and that seems a little… oh i dunno, well not the same as the kids from the streets of omaha or the working moms or the working dads that LIVE the dream. Maybe I’m just a little biased, living in a college town, but I just don’t see the college groups as necessarily something that will even exist AS THEY ARE THIS YEAR in the future … sure there will be groups, like Glee Club, with changing membership… even the alum group decided to “get back together to try out” — they hadn’t been working on being a group in the intervening years. and a couple of them didn’t look old enough to have graduated from college yet anyway.

oh well. i was so looking forward to some awesome acappella performances, and while it was fun and interesting, it wasn’t a WOW factor for me overall.

back to SYTYCD tonight :-)

Thanks y’all for all the good wishes. I definitely had a night to remember. Nana, I’m still on cloud nine!

D, not only did I make it to the Loft, but I was at the front of the stage,” front row” center. Trust me my friend and I got there early enough to ensure it. We got to see Orianthi walk in and out of the venue. (She did not do soundcheck, which I’m guessing explained the tech issues during her performance). I also saw Kelly’s bandmembers. I missed her by like 2 minutes. Surprisingly enough, they had her walk right on the street into the venue. ‘Course there were only like 5 of us, so…

So yes, I am in a few of the published pics. From the link, I’m in the 3rd pic. (The one in black and red to next to the guy in red and green.) I’m also in the 5th pic singing at the top of my lungs as Kelly laughed with the mic over us.

Funny tidbit: They had a prompter set up so she could read her lyrics. It was part of the reason why they took a little bit to start Chivas, they had to find them for her.

K&CF, sounds like you had a great time. Reminds me of an evening I had (MANY) years ago front-row at the Agora Ballroom (which used to be across the street from the Fox.) Saw Three Dog Night, and walked away with several drum sticks.

Got a microphone stuck in my face, so I can actually say I’ve sung, live and in person, with Three Dog Night! :-)

Nana, lol, that is putting it mildly. I sure was!

Rickster, Three Dog Night, huh? Nice! (Yes, I know who they are! ;) ) I like the way you think. Now, if y’all will excuse me, my agent is calling. Being one of Kelly’s backup singers is a tough job…

I’m hoping I’ll have time later to finish the concert review and also post some of last night’s front row pics to share with y’all.

You know what I like about the picture of you singing (besides just knowing what you look like)? It’s that the other girl to the side is trying and failing. Kelly knew who the true fan was ;)

JT, hi! :) Of course, she knew…I made sure of that. Personally, I’m quite fond of the way she smiled at me while I was serenading her.

And for the record, she totally held my gaze while singing “I’m nothing with you.” *swoon* I promise I will go back to my real age at some point…just probably not today! Ha.

Linny, I’m not venturing back to the “picture” blog. It’s turned into a “weight” blog. Blah. All I can say, is she is not skinny, she won’t be…some of us are more than okay with that. The. End.

She was in Columbus, GA for a concert this past weekend… so did Q100 bring her to GA and Columbus rode the coattails, or was it the other way around?

K&Cfan, the weight thing reflects the sad state that this country is in. Americans are considered by many to be fat and what do the fat people like ClemsonNeil do to help bolster their low self esteem? Why they point fingers at someone else of course. If they aren’t saying that someone weighs too much, they are saying they are too thin. It’s gotten so out of hand on the internet that in a way it has become quite comical.

Personally, I wouldn’t label Kelly as being fat; I also wouldn’t label her as skinny. In fact, if you go to any mall in the county she would be considered to be average. There is nothing wrong with being average when you have an exceptional voice and your business is that voice. Sing on Kelly!

Coming up for a air after a workaholic weekend (20 hrs)… what a treat to see Kelly’s clips! Now that’s an artist who’s having a good time on stage and knows how to share it with her audience (like fan K&CF!) – as opposed to Adam’s very selfish “good time” on that semi-scandalous TV-show.

Forgot who didn’t care for “2012″ – friend, you didn’t approach it with the right mindset! It’s a movie you see for fun (dialogue, acting, preposterous story) and the spectacle of f/x. And you should have stayed for the wonderful song at the end…

Re Kris Allen’s Christmas song – the hat is probably a hand-me down from Adam who wore one like it on “Idol”. At the start of the clip I couldn’t tell who was the Idol – they all looked the same. Yes, that could have been Kris with a beard. When he started to sing, I thought, right, he’s found his niche… he’s a very decent coffe-shop entertainer, even though his enunciation (Christmaaaa – sans “s”) is atrocious.

Recorded JeHud’s show and saw bits of the end. Def. more Christmasy than Carrie’s show.
The kid segment in the final minutes – what a heartbreaker…

D, lol, she’s definitely MY fave Idol ever! I adored her reactions at the audience singing. She kept turning to Cory and Aben with a look of, “Are they for real?” How often do you see that from a worldwide star?

CJ, neither. Kelly came to Columbus last Thursday as part of her tour. It skipped Atlanta, and somehow Q100 got her to come for their Christmas party.

JT, I agree. That is all…

(I know we need to move to the new post. I’m going, I’m going…)

Here is the thing, she was amazing at this show. Above in your article you write, her vocals were 90% there and she was raspy – HELLO? She just did a manic tour of the US!! Give her a break. And another thing, she can hit the high note in Since U Been Gone because the word ‘just’ in the phrase “Shut your mouth, I ‘just’ can’t take it”, the ‘just’ is the same note as the high note. If she was to go and belt that high note she might damage her vocals (WE DON’T WANT THAT!).

BUT SHE WAS VERY VERY VERY GOOD! The x-mas song was beautiful!

This wonderful girl`s voice and persona are immanent with Celtic mysticism ; she`s both earth-goddess and enchanting divine Hellenic, seducing the soul into following her.Ok,I will go and lie down now.
