Just days after Lil Rounds signs with Bungalow Records, Michael Sarver too has nabbed a record deal:
Los Angeles, CA–Dream Records/Universal Music Group announced today the signing of American Idol’s Top 10 finalist of the 2009 season MICHAEL SARVER with plans to release Sarver’s debut country music CD in the spring of 2010. Sarver’s first single from the new album titled “You Are,” will be released nationally and on itunes this coming Tuesday, December 8. Michael is currently available for interviews in support of the upcoming singles and his current Holiday Tour with other A.I. finalists.
A bonus track, “Cinderella Girl,” will be made available on itunes along with “You Are” – the song which he recently performed live for L.A.’s homeless and needy at the Los Angeles Dream Center, which owns Dream Records, a non-profit organization that provides shelter, education, job training, and other services to thousands in the L.A. area and nationally.
I liked Michael Sarver well enough but didn’t think he deserved to be a top 10er. So I’m also surprised he got a label to sign him.
Does Matt Giraud have a record deal yet? I don’t think so. Anoop, Scott and Megan Joy don’t have deals yet either So that means six out of the top 10 have deals. Not bad!
The season with the most artists who released albums? Season five, with nine out of 10. (Lisa Tucker excepted.)
I did the phone press conference a couple of days ago with Nigel Lythgoe. He didn’t say anything all that surprising, promoting Monday’s Carrie Underwood special. I gave him some useless softball question about how much he misses “Idol” and he said he does quite a bit but is glad it enabled him to do “So You Think You Can Dance.” He also sidestepped the issue of the show not doing so well in the fall simply saying he’s glad it’s on period. He also said Paula Abdul has been ducking his efforts to get her to guest judge on the show.
Allison Iraheta tapes herself buying her own album at a Best Buy — in disguise. She is such a goof!
Remember Kimberly Caldwell from season two? She had established herself as a TV Guide Channel host the past few years but never could get an album off the ground — until now. You have to check out this rather bold cover, courtesy of the eagle eye over at MJ’s blog:
