Adam Lambert’s album comes in at No.3; Kellie Pickler’s ‘Santa Baby’
Adam Lambert sold 198,000 copies of his debut album his first week, coming in No. 3 behind Susan Boyle (a whopping 701,000–yes older folks still buy CDs) and Andrea Bocelli at No. 2 (218,000). He outsold Rihanna and a Lady Gaga EP.
My prediction last week was right on the mark.
Naturally how Adam sustains his sales numbers will depend on the success of his second single “Whataya Want From Me.”
Barbara Walters has also named him one of the most fascinating people of 2009, along with Kate Gosselin, Tyler Perry, Glenn Beck and Michael Jackson’s kids, to name a few.
-And Simon Cowell told E! that he anticipates Ellen DeGeneres to be nervous in the hot seat next year.
“She’s going to be very different than Paula,” he says. “I think she’s probably quite nervous… She’s smart, but make no mistakes: this will be a very different kind of show than what you’re used to.”

JT, they let me out just to go and buy Susan Boyles’ cd. I am back safe and sound now, just listening away! Don’t tell anyone, but while I was out, I bought Adam’s cd, too. Old, but not dead!

I don’t get the appeal of Susan Boyle. I mean, sure, she can sing….but with all the drama/issues surrounding her (including her mental issues), is it really in her best interest to be a singer? I just don’t think the woman’s equipped to handle the stresses of being a celebrity., IMO.
So, did Pickler die her hair to fit the holiday season?

Rickster has become a hater. I understand hating Adam, I understand hating Lady GaGa, I understand hating the hat, but hating red hair? DUDE!
If music sales were about quality then Andrea Bocelli should have been #1. Saw and heard him during the parade (yes the place where I get all my pop cultural references is the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade) and he was incredible. Even if it was canned it was real good.
As for Adam, I noticed last night that his album has dropped quite a bit on iTunes. Nothing scientific there, just a casual observation.

Susan Boyle is a fine singer but a boring performer. Adam Lambert is also a fine singer. As is Kris Allen. But I have to agree with JT. If the charts and sales had anything at all to do with quality, Andrea Bocelli tops them all.

Thanks to everyone for the welcome back, work has had me pretty busy. I post when I am home from work or my days off.
According to Adam’s tweet (12/02), he will not be on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show (ABC) because of FCC heat.
In my opinion, I think that “Whataya want from me” will make a better single than “For your Entertainment”. Also, when I purchased my Adam CD at the store, the sales clerk said “what about Susan Boyle’s and I said no thank you”. Plus, I had already pre-ordered 2 copies of Adam’s CD.

I don’t think FCC had anything to do with it. They don’t regulate content after 10 p.m. when Kimmel and Rockin’ New Year’s Eve are on. Adam is mistaken on that front. Anyway, new blog entry this early morning!

I heard that Adam’s album was sold for 99 cents ($3.99 with an instant coupon $3.00) starting day 2 release. Was that true? 99 cents strategy would BUMP up numbers of copies (ONLY to 198,000 copies!!!!). The chart is meaningless to me. I’d like to know the total sales ($); not numbers of copies. Will Allison play the 99 cents game?
