More about Adam Lambert’s cancelled GMA show, Paula Abdul’s talk-show aspirations

Dick Clark Productions, who produced the American Music Awards, had no idea Adam Lambert would simulate fellatio, grope a female dancer and kiss his keyboardist since he didn’t do so during the rehearsals.

Paula Abdul doing a talk show

“Good Morning America,” citing concern about a repeat of his performance, nixed his appearance tomorrow on that show while CBS’s “Early Show” will now air him live (they had him pre-taped originally.) He will not perform “For Your Entertainment” on the “Early Show.”

Adam was not apologetic to Ryan Seacrest:

Following his “GMA” cancellation Tuesday morning, Adam called into Ryan Seacrest’s radio show to discuss this latest hiccup. “It’s choreography, we were dancing,” he said to Ryan about the AMA performance. “The sexuality of it kind of got a little more extreme when I got up on stage. I think the adrenaline kind of took me over, and I admit it, and I’m proud of the fact that I did get a little carried away.

Paula Abdul, in the meantime, thinks she can be a talk-show host, she tells Extra.

“It would be fun and quirky and it would be insightful,” she said. “It would be fun to jam with the band and have amazing guests and introduce amazing different formats on the show.”

An Abdul talk show? I’ll pass.

I also saw that Susan Boyle’s album is going to eclipse sales of that of Adam Lambert and Rihanna.

bwerde: hearing that susan boyle will go scorched earth on rihanna and adam lambert in album sales this week. so much for a showdown.

I was going to ask for a non-AMA safe picture, but those are probably non-AJC safe as well. As this thing simmers I’m becoming more of a fan of Adam. It’s the libertarian in me.

Paula with a talk show… I need to alter the poll choice. Instead of give me a sedative, mine is “Her show would act as a better sedative than a horse tranquilizer.” Everyone getting a talk show is so 90’s, and most of those failed for a reason.

Okey okey I got it. Glambert wanted us to remember him as Adam Gaybert dancer.

mj has Adam’s just released video of For Your Entertainment. It was directed by Lady GaGa’s director. The themes are the same as the AMA performance but it’s much more subtle.

Thanks Deirdre, it’s a well shot video, but I still don’t care much for the song. It will be too much for our puritan society.

I might have to change my screen name to “Allison Fan” but that might be too creepy. Got her music video, waiting to sample and read some reviews of her album before I pull the trigger. She by far has the best debut single and best video. Don’t get me wrong, Adam’s is fine, just a bit jumpy.

Good Morning Everybody.

No daily quote today, just a wish to everyone. I hope that each and everyone of you have a great Thanksgiving. Enjoy and love your family, as a person can be taken in a blink of an eye. Be thankful of all that you have and not what you don’t. Cherish each second that you are given with family and friends.

A special prayer for Rickster and his family. May his family have the faith and strength to face whatever lays in front of them, and to travel safely.

Hubby, memory and I are off now to LaGrange to spend the holiday with my Dad. We will be back on Sunday, then i will check back here.

Again, a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all. :) :)

Good morning all, coming to you from the crickets chirping in my office!! Wow, a whole 10 people found their way to work this morning – in our entire building! Oh well….
Now, I still haven’t seen the performance. And while I may wich that Adam had blown people away (no pun intended) with his singing….this is him. While he may have been restrained a bit on AI, he is going forward full force. But really, haven’t there been other moments much more riske than this? From Madonna rolling on the floor, to several outfits where a wardrobe malfunction was eminant? How about the see thru dresses and the taped, um, can I say nipples here?
Oh well, it is what it is….no turning back now.
I will say I bout the cd on Monday and I really like it!!! I did have to flip the cover around – just not digging that picture. There are some definate dance tunes on this album, as well as a song I call very “Rick Springfieldish”……

Morning!

It’s likely to be a pretty slow day on the blog. I wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving.

According to Billboard magazine:

Meanwhile, Adam Lambert’s “For Your Entertainment” is also outperforming sales expectations, despite—or perhaps because of—the risque performance he turned in at the American Music Awards on Sunday, Nov. 22. Label and distribution sources project that “For Your Entertainment” could sell about 225,000 units in its first week.

Good morning, and I add my Happy Thanksgiving wishes to those already expressed here. My sister and I are cooking dinner in Charlotte for our 89 year old aunt, as usual. She loves having the dinner at her house, although she long ago gave up trying to cook, so we let her invite whomever she wants. It is lots of fun. Love the smells coming from the kitchen on Thanksgiving morning. As I got ready for work this morning, I kept thinking about how much I miss my mother. She loved the holidays, too. Hug your mom especially tightly, if you still have her in your life!

Just watched Adam’s AMA “performance” on DVR this morning. The term “way over the top” doesn’t even come close.

To quote Randy, “It was a little pitchy, dude.” Other than his normal screeches, he was out of tune a few times. And the hair! The hair??? I kept thinking, “He stole Pepe Le Pew’s hairstylist! Which was appropriate, since he kinda stunk up the stage! :-)

“I think it’s up to the parents to discern what their child’s watching on television,” he said. “I’m not a baby sitter. I’m a performer.”

How could a parent have seen that coming? I guess parents should never let their children watch a show that he is going to be on again. I know I wont ever watch him again.

Pitiful excuse for a perverted individual and performance if you can call it a performance.

Same posting problems today… IF this gets through, Tenn. friend, not Adam fan, who saw the show Sunday said she was way more offended by Eminem glorifying rapists than Adam “getting carried away”.

Adam was most appropriate on CBS this morning. ABC should have been able to figure that out.

K, just a thought, i didn’t see it, but in my day, kids were in bed before that performance was aired — just sayin’ … i know nowadays parents don’t seem to set curfews and bedtimes, LOL… in any event, it’s history, and an “event” that caused comment and kept him, despite GMA, in the public eye… and regardless of his platform (AI) for jumping into that eye, he seems to be a master (no pun intended) at keeping himself at the very LEAST in the corner of that eye! or perhaps he’s like an eyelash or grain of sand in that eye… depending on your perspective i guess.

anywho, Happy Thanksgiving to One and All — and imho at least we can be Thankful, with regard to Adam, that we still somehow live in a country where people CAN be controversial! dunno how long that will last…

Missing here is the point that Adam made in his interview: the performance happened at ten minutes to eleven o’clock at night! What parent in their right mind would have a kid up that late looking at an awards show? And to boot, Adam made a very good point about earlier performances by such as Janet Jackson who grabbed a crotch on air.

I think the two hours of non stop soft core porn would have been a good indication that the performance near 11:00 pm might be a bit risqué. We did get a little break with Kelly and Whitney, but most of the other performers could be classified – by some people – as being obscene. In light of that I can’t condem Adam. Sex sells and the AMA’s loaded up with it.

Take Lady Ga Ga and Rhianna’s “barely there” outfits, for instance. Rhianna’ album is entitled “Rated R,” and she admitted that so was her outfit. Imagine if Adam had had on something that showed skin! Lawzy Mercy!!

KPH

Me either Woodpappy. I didnt vote for him because I saw this coming from the start among other things. I didnt see an R rating or sexual content warning at the start of the show did any of you? We do still have rules in America even though it irritates some people. And yes a couple of subtle sexual expressions were apparent before Lambert came out with his full blown clothed (barley in some cases) gay porn s&m and woman degrading escapade and I dont agree with them either.

Harriett, sorry but I don’t want to picture Adam in Rhianna’s outfit. Maybe Rodney can post a picture of Rhianna in Rhianna’s outfit, just for comparison purposes of course… to further the bounds of scientific inquiry and all that.

Hi y’all,

Rickster, probably won’t see this, but safe travels and prayers to you and the family.

Linny, ITA.

JT, you mean, Carrie’s performance was obscene? I sure wasn’t offended by it…. ;)

And I really wasn’t offended by Adam. I just felt sadness. At what? Well, at him resorting to “tricks” on his first, major post-Idol appearance when everyone was watching. *sigh* It just seemed like such a step back when it came to him saying he wanted to be known for his music not necessarily his sexuality. I mean, he could’ve danced suggetively with another guy, and I wasn’t completely horrified at the simulated um, oral sex, we’ve seen worse. But adding the kissing of the keyboardist was kinda overkill, IMO.

As far as Janet and the crotch grabbing. Coming from her, is anyone surprised? And aside from the Michael tribute at the VMAs, when’s the last time she’d been allowed on national TV? If I remember correctly, she was not very welcomed after the “wardrobe malfunction” for quite a while. And yes, it is a double standard, but you attract more bees with honey…just sayin’.

Anyway. I was rambling. Hope y’all have a great, and safe, Thanksgiving! :)

Harriett

November 25th, 2009

Neither do I, JT, hence my exclamation. Just sayin…if it had been him. Well, it wasn’t, but it was just barely enough on Rhianna. I truly wish he hadn’t carried it to such extremes, and KCF, I know what you are trying to say. It would have served him much better not to have done it.

I missed Carrie’s performance, but I’m sure I would have had obscene thoughts running through my head. She could have worn a dress that covered her ankles and it would have been obscene ;)

Great way to put it K&Cfan, “tricks” they weren’t needed.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Just put turkey into oven and sat down with the New York Time’s arts section. On the cover, predictably, huge picture of Adam ( looking like he’s living the good life, double chin and all) illustrating story “Community Standard or Double Standard”.

In her TV-column, Alessandra Stanley writes: “It wasn’t really the man-on-man kiss or the simulated oral sex that marked Adam Lambert’s performance on the American Music Awards on Sunday as shocking. Mostly it was ABC’s reaction. By rescinding Mr. Lambert’s invitation to sing on “Good Morning America”, ABC self-protectively drew a line that networks usually prefer to keep blurred.

“Or as Mr. Lambert said Wednesday morning on the “Early Show” on CBS, ‘There’s a lot of very adult material on the A.M.A, this year, and I know I wasn’t the only one.’ Mr. Lambert, runner-up on this year’s “American Idol”, was referring to other risqué performances Sunday night, including Lady Gaga smashing whiskey bottles, Janet Jackson grabbing a male dancer’s crotch and Eminem talking about his character Slim Shady’s rap sheet of rape, assault and murder.

“There is a lot of very adult material on television all the time, and mostly it flows unchecked and unpunished, except when it comes as a surprise and hits a nerve. Community standards are mutable and vague; lots of people don’t know obscenity until someone else sees it…Mr. Lambert, who just released his first album, startled viewers because he did things akin to what outré rappers and female pop stars have performed onstage to get attention, only he did it as a gay man.”

As you may remember, hubby is working today so we will be celebrating the holiday on Saturday.

CBS proved Adam correct(regarding female sexuality being acceptable while not so much with male)when it blurred the image of Adam kissing the guy while not blurring the open mouthed, tongues extended view of Britney and Madonna kissing. Double standard displayed for all to see.

In other news, Kris Allen is at the bottom of the Idol winner pile when it comes to first week album sales. Every winner did better than he did.

If anyone feels like a movie this holiday, “The Fantastic Mr. Fox” is fabulous. Never seen animation like it. The best of George Clooney’s 3 movies this season.
“The Road” is as grim as it sounds (I couldn’t finish the book), but an Oscar-worthy performance by Viggo Mortensen makes this end-of-the-world scenario worthwhile. And there’s no nonsense about Mayan calendars.
“The Messenger” is almost as good as the TV-movie “Taking Chance” . Woody Harrelson shows his serious side as a casualty notification officer.
Please don’t drag any kids to “Planet 51″.

I was a huge fan of Adam Lambert. He could have been the world’s greatest singer/performer ever; but after his true character coming out on the AMA, he has destroyed himself. Only the lowest of the low will ever feature him, buy his records, or go see him perform. How sick can people get? I feel sorry for his parents.
