I don't know what it is about David Cook. You just have to love the guy. He puts on a great show. Even after a year, I still play his album almost every day. One of the reasons, other than his fantastic talent & vocals, that I like him is because he is such a NICE guy. He's so down to earth.

I read a couple of stats about him so I am VERY surprised that no more singles will be released. Well, he sells albums more than singles - a label's dream in this music market.

DCTR ranked #13 out of 115,000 albums released last year.
Only 19 "million" sellers this year - there were 57 in 2004/05, 54 in 2005/06, 43 in 2006/07 and 33 in 2007/08.

Only 19 albums made platinum in the 2008-09 chart year. One of those was DCTR. One of only three debut albums to hit that mark.

Not bad for a new artist!

Great interview? You captured exactly what I love about him as a person and an artist. I agree with Stacy as well you have to see him live to appreciate him as a performer and that it doesn't matter that he came from AI or not. The truth is he is an amazing talent. I saw him in Phoenix and I wish I could afford to go to every show, because he is that good. He has that it factor and the fact that he writes his own songs and plays guitar...how can I say I want to bear his children...haha...seriously, he seems down to earth and humble and is very grateful to his fans and to AI for giving him the opportunity to get his music out there. In Phoenix, he came down into the audience and was mobbed of course, but I have never seen any artist do that. He is a breath of fresh air and the BEST rock artist to come out in recent years. Believe me, after you see him in concert, or if you "can" find or buy any of his previous music (Analog Heart, Axium (Blindsided, The Story Thus Far and Matter of Time) you will be asking yourself how he did not hit it BIG before AI. His voice, his songs, his music, everything is amazing. We really need to get him or RCA to re-release Analog Heart. It is an excellent album...has a much edgier rock sound to it. Rodney, - please tell him we want more rock and less pop on his sophomore album...either way I will see him and buy his stuff until he stops doing it which I hope is a long time from now.

David Cook is the real deal -- his live set rocks and his band is tight. Just did his album's 1 year anniversary concert in Hammond, IN -- people screaming and singing along all night -- the energy that pours off the stage is unreal. No wonder the guy's shot when he's done! These guys love what they do and it shows. This is a rock concert folks -- if you can still get a ticket, get out there, Atlanta!

Great interview! Have seen him in concert 7 times now and each one was a different experience. So glad to see he is still just a regular guy who happens to have one incredible voice! He's an amazing performer with a bright future ahead of him. Cannot wait to see him again at the Tabernacle Monday night.

Good morning. Thanks, Nana. I am getting better, slowly but surely. I will probably only work a half day again. And, I choose to celebrate each new day as it comes with a "tabula rasa." So, cherie, to answer your question from yesterday, yes, there are several of us here who follow SYTYCD, as do I. I love Russell, too, although I have not cemented a loyalty to any one dancer yet. It will be interesting tonight to see who goes. And, welcome to the blog, cherie.

Good Morning Everybody.

Today's Quote: "Always remember the compliments you receive. Forget about the rude remarks."

Cherie - I didn't have a chance yesterday to welcome you to our blogland, so welcome. Hope you decide to stay around for a long while. We do have fun as well as some heated discussions, but we ALL sincerely like each other. A few of us have actualy met and had lunch. The most important thing we try to express is respect for other posters, and for the most part, that is accomplished. Hope you are feeling better this morning.

Harriett, also hope you are feeling much better and that nasty flu/virus has ran its course. Stay well my friend.

I am sad to hear that "this record's cycle is done." I think the best songs were never released. My friends and I (hs/college age girls AND guys) all like Avalanche, Heroes, and Declaration the best. They're the ones we play most often. He's giving up on the record too soon. I can't believe they're not releasing another single.
