Carrie Underwood gets spotlight on ABC with CMAs, nabs her 8th No. 1 country hit with ‘Cowboy Casanova’

carrie_underwoodcowboy

“Good Morning America” correspondent Robin Roberts (a former Atlanta sports announcer and radio host) interviewed Carrie Underwood for last night’s pre-CMA special.

She co-hosts the show again tonight with Brad Paisley. She’s up for female vocalist of the year and musical event of the year for her duet with Randy Travis. She has sold more than 10 million copies of her three albums. That third album “Play On” just came out last week and has sold about 300,000 copies its first week, a big total nowadays.

The first single off that album, “Cowboy Casanova” is No. 1 on the Mediabase 24/7 charts, her 8th No. 1 country hit. (Her two other singles peaked at No. 2).

In other words, she’s on top of the world professionally.

The segment doesn’t reveal much new for Carrie fans. But it’s still fun to re-live her journey from “Idol” four years ago until now. Roberts flew with Underwood to her hometown Checotah, Okla. They bowled at Fast Lane bowling, where she had her post-prom party. Her first swing? A strike! Of course…

We see videos of her singing “Somewhere Out There” in elementary school, in chorus, crooning a country tune as a teen and competing in pageants.

Ottawa Senators NHL player Mike Fisher is her current boyfriend but as Robin noted, they do remain under the radar – at least it’s a far less tabloid friendly combo as NFL quarterback Tony Romo.

“We stay in,” she said. “We’re not big party goers… if anybody asks about personal, private things. I’m just really happy and that’s kind of where I leave it.” Marriage and kids timeline? “It depends on what God has planned.”

And even when she is in the tabs, she’s never seen boozing it up or cheating on someone. She remains that clean-cut country gal we know and love.

It’s always good to hear about Carrie (and all the idols). I watched the special last night with Robin Roberts and thought it was good. Carrie is just as down home as anyone. She is the girl next door.

How does one apply for the job of official Carrie Underwood photographer??? Man, what a career that would be. Thanks a bunch, Rodney.

Just when y’all were starting to feel Lambert-deprived. this from the NY Post:

Brian May and Roger Taylor, two of guys behind rock’s much-loved falsetto freakshow Queen, are apparently sniffing around “American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert to become their new frontman. Here’s a tip, Queen: tight-pants Glambert is about to blow the lid off this taco stand we call Earth, and I have a feeling he doesn’t need backup singers.

Nana, thank you for posting the Dee Clark Raindrops song. Old stick-in-the-mud that I am, guess I just love me some oldie songs.

I survived Ida unscathed, my pool cover wasn’t as lucky, it drowned and now is at the bottom of the pool!

Mercedes, I tried to respond to your post last night, pacman wouldn’t let me. I needed to tell you that I don’t have a wife because I’m female! :-)

Hey y’all!

Ummmm….well, that’s always been one of my fave pics! Linny, thanks for that towel. Just when my fever finally broke, Rodney goes and posts this. (Sidenote: Guess who has Swine flu? :( ) Seriously, wow. That is all.

So, yes, I’m enjoying all the Carrie this week. Last nights In The Spotlight was fun, but we still didn’t get much about her that we didn’t know. I guess she is keeping herself private like she wants to be. But she does seem really happy, so yay.

I’m definitely waiting for the CMAs tonight. Can’t wait to see the dynamic with Brad again. They play off each other extremely well.

Nana, next door where? ‘Cause I’m moving! ;)

As far as working for Carrie, I just want to be Ace’s nanny.

PS. Rodney, don’t listen to D, feel free to bust out that pic whenever you want!

Hope you are feeling a lot better K&Cfan.
