And yes, Kris Allen exists. He did a prank call earlier this week with a so-called vocal coach on Miami’s Y100. I wish Allen had been funnier though the coach had trouble differentiating Allen with Clay Aiken.

Thanks Rodney. The album cover, I’m not going to say what I’m thinking about it.

To paraphrase Simon’s reaction to Adam’s version of “Ring of Fire” …”What the #$%^ is that?”

Now excuse me while I go throw up and then go back and view yesterday’s thread.

I think it’s pretty typically Lambert. Glam, over-the-top, retro. His next album cover will be him looking just like Elvis.

To be serious, I don’t like it. Does it make me want to vomit? No, but I’m not happy with it. I like it when he at least pretends to be masculine.

So, hey, y’all. It was a nasty drive yesterday and this morning. It took me 2 hours…to go 10 miles. I could’ve walked to work! Anyway.

Um, where’s MY apology, Rodney? ;) Lambert? I’m tempted to boycott this thread. Just kidding. In all seriousness, holy gaytastic! I mean, he is an attractive man, but um…I know I see that some, but dang.

Rickster, thanks for the Santa hat idea…could I get that under my tree? Lol, and thanks to you, that’s what I see instead of the Glittery cover. No, I don’t hate Adam…but I’d rather look at Carrie any day. Hello, Captain Obvious. As far as the 10 Most Beautiful, Pickler? Well, she is pretty. But agreed, where’s Shania, Or Hello! Sara Evans, anyone? Reba…is pretty for an older lady. And I don’t know, all I’ve heard of her are good things.

k&cf… if I could arrange for that to be under anyone’s tree… don’t you think it would be mine?? :-)

As for the 10 most beautfiul…. I also nominate Julianne Hough (the girl from DWTS) that has a surprisingly good voice. I also agree with K&CF about Sarah Evans. Love the t-shirt & jeans look in the “Perfect” video.

Rodney, imho, you need a third choice on the poll – something like, don’t like the cover but doesn’t make me want to vomit … oh wait, D sorta said that didn’t she *grin*

I thank Rickster for jarring my memory! Shania Twain was in the number 4 spot. I agree that Reba should have been on the list, but not in the second spot. I know that Miranda Lambert was on the list, I think taking the # 10 spot. IMO, they should have been:

1. Carrie Underwood
2. Julianne Hough
3. Shania Twain
4. Martina McBride
5. Kellie Pickler
6. Faith Hill
7. Sara Evans
8. Taylor Swift
9. Miranda Lambert
10. Reba

Re: Adam’s picture…………Ugh, gag me with a silver spoon :(

I like him, but he is way over the top. I know that he had a stylist and makeup artist spruce him up, but come on! This is a bit much.

Two brooms were hanging in the closet and after a while they got to know each other so well, they decided to get married.

One broom was, of course, the bride broom, the other the groom broom.

The bride broom looked very beautiful in her white dress. The groom broom was handsome and suave in his tuxedo. The wedding was lovely.

After the wedding, at the wedding dinner, the bride-broom leaned over and said to the groom-broom, ‘I think I am going to have a little whisk broom!’

‘IMPOSSIBLE !’ said the groom broom.

Are you ready for this?
Brace yourself; this is going to hurt! !! !! !

‘WE HAVEN’T EVEN SWEPT TOGETHER!

Oh for goodness sake… Laugh, or at least groan. Life is too short not to enjoy…..

Sounds to me like she’s ….. !

I just voted and see that “Lambert-licious” has 62%, yet the majority of ya’ll (along with me)say “Vomitous”. I agree that he has a very good voice when he doesn’t screech like an owl and make my ears bleed. Archie also has a good voice as long as he doesn’t have to take a breath. I was thinking that if he got some coaching they would teach him how to breath w/o doing it into the microphone. Unfortunately they haven’t gotten that far with him.

Deirdre

October 28th, 2009
11:17 am

I don’t think he’s “reinventing” himself. We saw all the Adam personi(?) during Idol. He’s a performer with a lot of versatility and he likes to play that up. Adam as Elvis. Adam as Freddie Mercury. Adam as Broadway. Adam as Rock star. He’s the one performer I’ve seen on Idol who didn’t really fit into just one niche. Whether that will help or hurt him remains to be seen.

Nana

As I stated earlier (10:13 post), maybe the look wasn’t all Adam’s idea. The stylist and make up artist as well as his producer, manager, etc had alot of input. I do think, however, that Adam liked what he saw and approved. He reminds me of RuPaul(sp) without being dressed in drag. Adam is a very nice looking young man and he uses his looks well.

JTesla

Rickster, he views his persona as complex and vibrant. I think you are trying too hard to pin him to being one thing or anther. He is being honest to himself and not jumping into one caricature and sticking with it like many artists try to do.

It could always be a lot worse. We could have another David Archuleta, or another Clay Aiken. Why did Simon say yes, well Idol has been going for variety in the top 40 for several years, and this time it paid off. That is good considering that the other guy was pretty much the same as a lot of other people.

JTesla

October 28th, 2009

I thought of the perfect example… Carrie Underwood. One persona is wearing leather the other lace. Rickster, google for those pictures, much better to look at.

Deirdre

Do you remember that his parents talked about how Adam was always playing dress-up? I think the Adam we see today, in all his incarnations, is that same Adam. It’s part of his personality. No re-inventing but a conglomerate. We like to pigeonhole people and Adam refuses to be pigeonholed. He’s gay but he finds women beautiful and enjoys kissing them from time to time. He’s Broadway but he’s also into being a rock star. He’s glam-flamboyant but can look sexy as hell dressed down and rough. Bottom line is he has a voice and a performance level that many people find hard to ignore. He seems like, at least to me, the antithesis of what Idol has been about for the last 8 years. He stands out as unique. Which is why he didn’t win and maybe why he should have.

Nana

Well stated Dierdre. I doubt if idol will EVER had another contestant like Adam. The one thing that I truly admire him for is that he is true to himself. Whether he is dressed down or up, he is Adam through and through. He seems to feel that if you like him fine, if you don’t fine. He’s not going to lose any sleep over it. He is a very beneficence and disparate human being.

kelly&carriefan

October 28th, 2009

D, I completely agree with your asessment of Adam. But I also think that someone as unique as he is would not have made it on Idol until now.

Deirdre

October 28th, 2009
3:35 pm

I have moments of brilliance, Mercedes…unfortunately they are sandwiched between moments of abject stupidity so it all balances out.

I liked Adam a lot on the show. I thought he deserved the win if only for his uniqueness. I’m not sure if I’ll be an Adam fan outside of Idol. It really depends on how he balances the varying qualities he has.

JTesla

Deirdre, I’m with you in terms of not being an Adam fan outside of Idol. Of course that means that I can be an Adam fan while on the blog. No need for me to spend any money, and I get to irritate those few people who remember that Kris actually won. At least that is my plan.

Pacman is not letting me post Adam’s comment on his album cover. So I’ll paraphrase….bassically he says that he knows it’s over the top, it’s meant to be campy and old school and he’s happy that, even though some people don’t “get it”, that he has people’s attention.

JT: “he views his persona as complex and vibrant.” Some of us view it as just plain weird.

If you’re trying to get the largest number of people possible to buy your album… WHY do you come out with THAT cover??

Some people will buy it no matter what. Others (like me) will avoid it no matter what. I think the cover will turn off more people than it will attract.

Rickster, unless you are talking about Ratt’s “Invasion of Your Privacy” album cover I don’t believe that the music buying public cares about what the picture is on the front. I doubt that someone would stumble across a CD with a picture of Adam saving a manatee and say “I need to buy this just because of the cover.” In today’s digital age the song is often bought without thinking about the album art which will pop up on your music player.

Oh and don’t give me a hard time about the Ratt tape, I was 15… what would you expect? Oh and if anyone could save a manatee it would be David Archuleta, or so his fans would have us believe.
