Ryan Seacrest hosting McDonald’s House charity gala October 24, Jordin Sparks on Disney

Ryan Seacrest gala

Atlanta’s own Ryan Seacrest will be coming back to his hometown this Saturday night for a McDonald House Charities Hearts and Hands Gala Saturday October 24. Coca Cola, a major sponsor of “Idol,” is also the presenting sponsor of this black-tie affair, which will be held at the World of Coca Cola.

The event is sold out. Seacrest will come by and tour one of the homes near Emory Saturday morning. McDonald House spokeswoman Carrie Bowden said Coca Cola was able to line up Seacrest. I will try to stop by and grab Seacrest for a few minutes.

The Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities provides a home away from home for families of seriously ill and injured children who must travel to receive treatment at Atlanta area children’s hospitals. There are two homes in Atlanta.

-The Hollywood Reporter reports that Jennifer Hudson is up for a role as Winnie Mandela in an indie biopic. That’d be a great role for her.

-Jordin Sparks will be on Disney Channel’s “The Suite Life on Deck” Friday at 8:30 p.m. Someone snuck part of it on YouTube:

Rodney, have you interviewed Ryan before? I know he is busy, but it is great that he can come and spend some time for a charitable event.

Rodney, thank you for the story about Ryan being here to help ill children and their families. This kind of ties in with my last post on the previous thread. The life of a child is so precious and we as adults need to do all we can to protect them from any evil, whether that evil be in an illness or in human form. God bless our children. When you see your child tonight or talk with them over the phone, please tell then how much you love them and give them a huge hug. They can’t hear it enough.

I would have enjoyed the video clip MUCH more if buffering the darn thing didn’t happen every 5 seconds for me. Darn computer. I hear 3 lines of dialogue and then it stops as it buffers the next 5 seconds. AARRGGH! I hate technology sometimes. :-) Jordin looks beautiful in this, though!

Nana, I’m with you that we should skip the jail time in certain cases and just have a nice, messy firing squad ready for some of these killers.

I’ll have to watch the video when I get home so I can hear it, then I can make a comment about it. Still can’t hear any link (anything for YouTube) here at work for some reason. My speakers work just fine for everything else. Our IT department can’t figure out what is wrong.

The firing squad would be to easy. I say let them suffer!!!

Now that I have a young daughter these stories have gone from being very very sad to being painfully horrific for me. I remain opposed to the death penalty, but I’m not opposed to torture. I have studied torture enough to know that it is not effective for extracting information, but as a form of punishment I don’t really see it as being that cruel.

Anyway… Idol, really looking forward to what information Rodney can get out of Ryan. That is if he is given enough time.

And for those opposed to the “death penalty” — how about creating a SuperMax for such offenders on an island gazillions of miles from civilization, make them grown their own food, clean their own toilets, and have at each other all they want — necessities would be airlifted and dropped to them … absolutely ZERO Human contact (since they are obviously NOT human). forever. and ever.

Linny: as long as the island we choose is named Manhattan Island, then it would be perfect! Call me “Snake” (obscure cultural reference)

Glad to hear that Ryan is helping out..I’ve stayed in the Ronald McDonald House in Philly and was very thankful for the help..

I don’t post here regular, but Nana, I’m with you..MAKE THEM SUFFER..

I just spent a delightful evening in Manhattan, Snake(I love Kurt Russell) and I can assure you that it is no longer the rat hole for criminals that it used to be. They(the criminals) have all apparently moved to Atlanta. And I am not anti-death penalty so, for someone who would murder a child I think the good ol’ electric chair might be dug out of the closet again…and there’s always hanging.

Good for Ryan Seacrest. I still think he’s the perfect host for Idol. He’s friendly, can do wonders with an overly nervous contestant and is never(except when he’s forced by producers) cruel.

Maybe I should have referenced Captain Robbins (Ray Liotta) from “No Escape” Although he isn’t nearly as cool as Kurt Russell.

LOL… Manhattan is WAY too close anyway. No, it would need to be a rock somewhere in the middle of an ocean — or maybe a cage at the south pole, i dunno. and “necessities” would be BARE minimum. no mollycoddling for THOSE creeps! in fact, they’d be airlifted and DROPPED in, no landings of the helicopter or ANYthing LOL.

How about Azkaban with Dementor guards, who can suck those souls (if there are any in these monsters!) out 24/7. Not just for child murderers, but for people who rape, abuse animals, steal from the underprivileged/elderly/mentally unstable – of course I’m not anti-death penalty – the repeaters can just cook!

Send them all to an island where they will be surrounded by electric wires in the water. One foot in and ZAP, they’re gone.

I think Ryan will give our leader here a very nice interview. Can’t wait for it.

I’m still wondering if Rodney has interviewed him before. I don’t think he has, but before I start celebrating the first Ryan Seacrest interview with balloons and little pastries I wanted to make sure.

About to call it a day and head home. Everybody have a great evening. Keep a song in your heart, a smile on your face and a tap in your toes. Stay safe on the roads.

Don’t forget to tell your children how much you love them

I guess the only ‘positive’ (hate to put it that way!) in the little Somer (sp?) tragedy is that it falls under the jurisdiction of either Florida or Georgia. Both death penalty states that aren’t afraid to enforce it!

Thanks Rodney, I knew you had interviewed his mother, but didn’t know that you got time with the man himself. If you get a chance, I’m curious if he has any future TV endeavors lined up (featuring him, not that Kardashian stuff… not that there is anything wrong with the Kardashians, that’s some good TV).

I’m with the majority here, torture sits well with me!!!

Deirdre, My daughter is having heart problems, so I guess that rules out the getting it from her students. Her heart rate is too low and now they suspect that she has another tiny hole in her heart.(we already knew that she had one tiny one in her ventricle that causes no problems and is expected to close on its on) The good news is that they don’t see any major problems and at present she requires no drugs.

I’m so ready for SYTYCD to start and LOST!

Morning!

Harm, yes, heart problems are a whole different thing. I’m happy to hear that the docs are ok with the status quo. And I hope she’s enjoying her teaching job.

Nana…I’m hoping you made it to work without meeting up with another deer. From what my husband tells me, the “rut” is just getting started and the deer are just plain nuts during this period.

Morning, folks. Sure glad it’s Friday. The day started off with a wet bed courtesy of my daughter and a stopped up toilet. So I’m dealing with stuff one way or the other.

But if it starts out in the toilet… the day has to get better, right?

Good morning all! Missed you yesterday, as I was out of the office at meetings, etc. all day. Have not caught all the way up on the posts, but will at some time today, hopefully. I agree about Ryan. He’s simply the best. And, anyone who has ever had a loved one in a hospital away from home for a period of time knows what Ronald McDonald House means to the families of hospitalized kids. It enables them to stay with the sick child without having to worry about the prohibitive cost of lodging elsewhere.

Good Friday morning everyone!
Hope you get a good interview with Ryan, Rodney. Tell him we say thanks for what he is doing here to help with this charity!
As far as this discussion on the, well, the horrible people, I vote YES for that remote island idea!!!!
JT – if you celebrate anything with balloons, just don’t let any kids get carried away by them! hee hee

Stumbled upon Kelly’s tour rider and just had to share. With notoriously demanding celebs can be, to see this was kinda funny. Let’s add it to the “List of Reasons K&Cfan loves her some Kelly.” It’s # 512: ;)
