Jordin Sparks joining Star 94’s Jingle Jam, David Cook on ‘Extreme Makeover,’ Adam Lambert’s ‘Time for Miracles’

Jordin-Sparks-j04

The past three years, Star 94 has included an “Idol” contestant in its Jingle Jam lineup: Elliott Yamin in 2007, David Archuleta last year and this year Jordin Sparks. The concert will be at the Gwinnett Arena December 17 starting at 7 p.m.

Sparks, a Star 94 staple the past two years (”Battlefield,” “No Air,” “One Step at a Time,” “Battlefield”) will be joined by “X Factor” winner and crooner Leona Lewis (”Bleeding Love,” “Better in Time”), the earnest pop band the Fray (”How To Save a Life,” “Never Say Never,” “Over My Head,” “You Found Me”) and Cobra Starship (”Good Girls Gone Bad”).

Tix went on sale this past Saturday. (Sorry, I’m late on this one!). They are priced from $27 to $77. The $57 and $77 tickets are already gone. I anticipate this will sell out.

-David Cook is going to appear as a celebrity guest on an upcoming episode of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” starring former Grant Park man Ty Pennington. Date has not been set on the airing.

More details here.

Today, Ty Pennington and his team travel to Miami County, Ind., to meet the Cowan-Brown family. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will rebuild the home of Andy and Heather Cowan, factory workers who struggle to support their four children Ryan, 16, Trevor, 13, Mason, 8, and daughter Kori, 12, who is battling a congenital blood disease.

And Adam Lambert’s first single (from the ‘2012′ movie soundtrack) is ‘Time For Miracles.’ Here’s the video:

EMHE is one of the few shows I enjoy watching because I feel good after watching it. I’m glad DC will be appearing.

And sorry about the keyboard, Linny.

That is a pretty decent show that Star 94 has put together. My question: why is it that radio stations around the country are virtually the same? Does every city really need a Jingle Jam or some slight varient thereof?

Rickster, things will continue to slowly amp up as we near the start of the season. I’m just waiting for the blog Rodney does that compares the Kris numbers with the Adam numbers.

I’m with you on EMHE, Rick.
JT, it’s because so many of the old radio stations have sold out to syndication or corporate conglomeration, and no longer are truly “local” — some of the so-called morning “entertainment” is syndicated out and you can hear the same so-called jocks in Miami, Tampa, Atlanta, Houston, yada yada yada… same for drive-time in the PM. I hate it. I’m a product of the 60s-70s DJs, when radio stations actually played music, had listener call in and requests lines, you know, stuff that made them LOCAL and interested and interesting. Bah humbug now. don’t even bother listening to radio much anymore.

Thanks, Rodney (and Deirdre, previous thread) for Adam’s video. He did a great job, singing, and acting, since his performance was basically photoshopped in. No doubt Roland Emmerich, the director of “2012″, asked for Adam himself since he too is openly gay.

The video may be the best thing about “2012″. Can’t say I look forward to the movie. Emmerich’s obsession about destroying the world is wearing thin. “Independence Day” and “The Day after Tomorrow” were sort of fun popcorn movies; with “2012″ the director expects to be taken seriously.

Seriously? This is the guy who gave us “Eight Legged Freaks”, “Godzilla” and, worst movie of 2008 , “10,000 BC”.

Good first video for Adam. I like the song, it fits him well and I assume he had a good producer who was able to reign him in from over-using the high end of his range (which he was often guilty of on AI).

However, I don’t know if the tune is Top 40 friendly currently. (Just judging by what’s on radio nowadays.) Either Adam’s (supposedly stellar) popularity will pull the song along in air play or it will flash and burnout, lasting only in the playlists of the ardent Adam-aniacs.

Just IMHO, of course. :-)

linny, I am with you on the local radio thing. One of our most entertaining morning DJs has been sent to another “parent” station and replaced by one of those “piped in” shows by one of the generic duos. I, too, remember the old formats fondly. I think this accounts for the popularity of satellite radios and Pandora-like stations.

Love, love, love the Adam video. He’s the real deal, as I said previously.

Thank you, Rodney, for the video of Adam’s Time For Miracles. I love this video and can’t wait for the soundtrack to come out. I have already pre-ordered it as well as Adam’s new album which has been titled “For Your Entertainment”. Adam, of course, knows how to entertain people, IMHO. Also, looking forward to his performance at the AMA show.
Greetings to all the regulars, sorry, that I did not get to join in for yesterday’s previous thread.

I’ve been too busy this week!

I’ve been painting a bedroom. then yesterday I took a sick Asa to the doctor and he was diagnosed with what the doctor called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Green Slime Nose.

Glad you had a good, safe trip Deirdre! Poor Deer!!!

Nana, there is no major problem with my daughter, the doctor told her some more things to help her situation and to come back in a month and if she is not feeling better they might put her on some kind of medicine if the diet changes don’t work.

Yay for David Cook! I can’t pick the most forgetable idols because I’ve already forgotten them.

Rickster, to answer your query from the last blog- I didn’t see Adam make off with any of the multiple pairs of panties tossed at him at the Tampa show. He did seem amused by it & picked up a bra & whirled it around his head like a burlesque dancer.

Good Morning Everybody…. :)

Today’s Quote: “Helping people in need is a good and essential part of life, a kind of destiny.”

Not a good start to my day this morning. A deer decided to hit my car around 4:20. Not much damage to the car, but ALOT to my nerves!!! I felt my BP rise to high levels. Scared the daylights out of me.

A happy 67th birthday to Annette Funicello. I remember her as a very young bushy hair girl in the 50’s when she was first on the Mickey Mouse Club. Boy, how time flys.

Harm, I’m so glad that she is okay. Hope she is feeling better than when you and I last talked.

Morning!

Harm…I don’t know any details about your daughter feeling poorly but I DO know that first year teachers get sick A LOT. Second year, third year and for quite awhile. You have to develop immunities to all the nasty little bugs your students bring in.

Elaine, I know how you feel about Adam’s video. He’s just got something. Here’s a video with no bare chest, no naked girls, no snakes….and my bp rises just a little watching it. The producers and directors did a good job.

According to this Adam has recorded a Lady GaGa song:

Fans of Lady GaGa and Adam Lambert have been hoping for a collaboration between the two singers since this past spring, when GaGa appeared on an “American Idol” results show. Now, their wish is being fulfilled, according to MTV News.

“Yes it’s true,” Lambert posted on Twitter Tuesday morning. “I spent yesterday in the studio w the insanely talented and creative Lady Gaga recording a song that she wrote! I love her.”

Earlier this week, another Twitter post by singer/songwriter Ruth-Anne Cunningham revealed that Lambert and GaGa had been spotted working on a duet in the studio together.

*raising hand* Present!

JT, Gaga definitely makes some catchy songs, and I enjoy her music, but there’s just something about her I do not like. That “Papparazzi” performance at the VMAs with the fake blood was too weird for my tastes. I like the simple, “hear me sing” kinda girls. ;)

Hey guys, I just have to vent for a few minutes here, so I apologize up front for my rampage.

The little 7 year old girl in Florida that was missing has been found. Her body was found in a Georgia landfill. The sorry lowdown SOB that kidnapped and killed her isn’t worth the air (s)he breathes. I hope to God that they get the harshest penality allowed by law. I say take them from the courtroom to the death chamber, call me and I will gladly pull the switch. For someone to take an innocent child, murder them and throw them in the trash is beyond comprehension. Something of the magnitude sets me off quicker than anything. I read the story on CNN and couldn’t stop the flow of tears streaming down my face. This has to be a very scurrilous person to do something like this. My heart just breaks for little Somer’s family. In my wildest imagination can I think of how she suffered and now what her mother is going through. May the scumball MFer burn in hell.

Okay, for now I’m done. Sorry guys, but I just had to have an outlet regarding this senseless murder.
