Hilarious, over-the-top Adam Lambert press release, Kelly Clarkson top radio hit

Given that Adam Lambert is openly gay, I found this hyperventilating press release absolutely hilarious. This is exactly how I got it this morning:

Good morning Rodney-

You’ve heard the buzz but now see for yourself! Adam Lambert lands the November cover of DETAILS magazine and it’s his sexiest photo shoot ever. He opens up to DETAILS about getting bras thrown at him onstage, kissing gorgeous women and living the American dream. Plus, exclusive outtakes and video from his racy photo shoot on DETAILS.com! See for yourself why every woman in America wants to sleep with Adam Lambert. The November issue hits stands October 27.

Plus, beginning at 10am today, go to DETAILS.com to enter for a chance to win a photo shoot with Adam! That’s right- you and Adam Lambert together for a professional photo shoot!

Full story, slideshow and video: http://www.details.com/celebrities-entertainment/cover-stars/200910/american-idol-cover-star-adam-lambert

Amusing quote from the story:

On kissing women: “I am gay, but I like kissing women sometimes. Women are pretty. It doesn’t mean I’m necessarily sleeping with them.”

And geez, every little about Adam Lambert’s upcoming album keeps leaking out drip by drip. He’s working with Lady GaGa! (He tweeted.) His album title leaks out (”For Your Entertainment”). We’re just a month out people! It’s coming soon!

-Kelly Clarkson now has the top radio song with “Already Gone.” I’m impressed considering she bemoaned the song’s release given its similarity to “Halo.” It is now No. 12 on the top 40 chart and No. 8 on the Hot AC chart. Idol Chatter notes that Kris Allen’s first single is struggling to get airplay while some guy named Adam Lambert is getting all the headlines. (See above.). Interesting.

I must say the pictures alone will sell magazines. Time for me to break out the duct tape to prepare for the wave of Lambert fans. Especially after the comment regarding Kris Allen’s first single. Ouch!

I posted this in the last thread, just before Rodney sentenced it to oblivion. So I’m re-posting (hope it’s okay.)

At the risk of sounding like a confused, middle aged white guy (which, I guess, I am) … what is it about a flamboyantly gay singer like Adam Lambert that gets women hot & bothered? Is it the lure of forbidden fruit? Or is it the thought “I could bring him back from the dark side.”

I just don’t get it.

(JT can have the duct tape. I’m going to my super secret, reinforced bunker to wait out the storm.)

Oh.. and Rodney… using the term “leaking out drip by drip” in regards to Adam brings to mind a HORRIBLE mental image (ie. the green trouser snake.)

I’ve lost my appetite.

Rickster, I think it is the same reason that super models get men hot & bothered. In either case they don’t stand a chance of even meeting them, but it’s all fun (until the stalking begins that is).

Duct tape and plastic is all you need Rickster. It will allow you to survive the onslaught of Adam fans and the few peeps from the handful of Kris Allen’s faithful.

The press release still kills me, I wonder how much of this kind of thing Rodney gets in the attempt to get some magazine, TV show, or radio program free press. Rodney care to shed some light on that subject?

Look, let me clear it up for you. We straight (and yes, hot, and no, not desperate) ladies know he’s gay – we applaud him for being out, by the way – yet we are drawn to him because he is pure sexuality. He’s the perfect combination of powerful masculinity, talent and emotion. So if that threatens you dudes, instead of getting out the duct tape to barricade yourselves against reality, why don’t you instead use our desire for Adam to get yourselves some action? Join the refrain, don’t complain. Tell your gal you don’t have the face for guyliner, but that you thought his “Whole Lotta Love” cover on Idol was pretty good for a TV competition show. Tell her your snake is sneakier than the one on the Rolling Stone cover. Oh, and by all means, tell her you want to reenact the Details photo shoot with her, asap. Trust me, it will get you everywhere.

Hey, GrapeSoda… who is “we” and did they elect you to speak for them? I’m not barricading myself from women who like Adam, I’m not barricading myself from gay men (especially not ones that do hot photo shoots like Adam) I am barricading myself from the crazies like you!

Why do the crazies like GrapeSoda think that I am in any way threatened by Adam. There are a lot of sexy men out there, some of them gay, some of them not and they are no threat to me.

“Tell her your snake is sneakier than the one on the Rolling Stone cover” LOL worst line ever. Stay away from the dating advice.

Rickster, I know for a fact that I’ll be in a minority here, but I don’t find Adam attractive AT ALL. Never did. Sorry. I don’t care if he’s gay or straight, he’s just not sexy. (ducks even as she types this…)
JT, that duct tape? Can you keep it handy for me? I might need it soon.
D, welcome back and glad you had such a great trip!
GrapeSoda, if my husband did ANY of the things you mentioned, it really wouldn’t turn me on. Might make me laugh, but wouldn’t turn me on. He gets much further by loading the dishwasher. LOL…. Highlander, I’m kidding!! :-)

Heather, I’m with you 100%. My hubby would win mega points with me if he would at least start dinner since he gets home 2 1/2 hours before I do. He waits while I drive nearly 2 hours to get home and then he’ll ask me what’s for dinner. I just look at him and stare. Last night I told him dinner was whatever he wanted to run out and pick up. That worked very well, I might add. Just may to try that answer again.

Um, well…all I can say is that Adam’s not dumb. He’s saying what women want to hear. But come on, this is not the first (or last) time a bunch of women lust after a gay man. Why? All the reasons listed above, illusion, fantasy, the challenge, you name it. Personally, I do not see him as “pure sexuality.” Quite possibly because he reminds me of people I’ve known.

As far as Kelly goes, “that’s my girl!” Er, you know, in a non-stalking sort of way. :)

Lemme see…why do I find a gay guy hot? Same reason I find a straight guy hot. Attitude, looks, talent, sense of humor, personality…did I mention looks? Thinking that a guy is hot has nothing to do with what he wants and a lot to do with want I want….and yes, I can decide I guy is hot without wanting to jump on him. Sort of like appreciating a work of art. Not that I think Adam is a work of art…but you get what I’m saying.

Congrats to Kelly. I never doubted it for a minute.

Here’s something to ponder…..has there EVER been an openly gay man marketed this aggressively as a sex symbol to women. Yeah, we can talk about the Rock Hudsons(closeted) and the Tab Hunters(closeted) and even the Rupert Everetts(out)….but this is a whole OTHER thing with how Adam is being presented. These pictures are clearly made for women.

such fun! LOL. I think he’s hot. But I’ve always (unbeknownst to me in the early days) been attracted, apparently, to gay men. My “best friend” in high school (way back when closets were in the sub-basement and locked tight) whom i could get to take me to dances but NEVER get to um, well, you know… found out like 15 years later he was always gay. ‘cept they didn’t call it that back then, i guess. Anyway, not ALL gay men (don’t like flamers) but just once in a while i come across one that stirs my very soul (ok, maybe not my soul) — knowing it ain’t gonna happen no matter what, but i love ‘em, lol.

D, you bring up a great point. Perhaps it’s a bit of a generational shift? I’ve noticed from talking to friends who are younger that they seem to be slightly more flexible/accepting of sexuality. Maybe they’re marketing Adam in that way? It’s still selling a fantasy, and about maximizing your brand to attract the most consumers. It happens all the time, the other way. Perhaps not the best example, but Justin Timberlake has been marketed to the gays and embraces them as his fans. The boys know they don’t stand a chance with him…it’s all part of the fun. Quite interesting to see the other phenomenon taking place.

JTesla

We still have a long way to go when you look at the treatment in our society of non-straight men compared to non-straight women. Lesbian or bisexual women in the entertainment industry seems to be more acceptable (not 100% acceptable, but more acceptable) than their male counterparts. It also seems to be perfectly acceptable to ask a female artist if they are bisexual and expect the answer to be yes (Lady GaGa and Katy Perry come to mind).

Maybe Adam will become the “standard bearer” for gay men in the industry. And that seems odd considering that he very plainly stated that his ‘choice’ wasn’t up for discussion. But then again, wouldn’t we have to have been pretty stupid not to know he was gay right from the start? Maybe what he was trying to say when not answering the question was “open your eyes”. Maybe he was saying that it shouldn’t be an issue one way or the other.

If allowing himself to be a sex symbol for both women and men opens more doors for gay men then I say good for him!

Sexual preferences is not a closed closet issue that it was 40, 30. 20, or even 10 years ago. I think most of American has accepted the idea of gays in todays society than they did in past generations. Oh, no doubt, there are some that are still very much bigoted and will never accept a gay person, be it male or female. One’s sexual preference doesn’t make a difference to me. I have gay friends whom I love to pieces and wouldn’t trade them for some straights. They all have a heart, feel and love the same that I do, with the exception of their partner being same sex. When you think of old Hollywood and remember some of the great stars who where gays, such as Jim Nabors, Paul Linde, Liberace, their preference didn’t hurt them. I say kudos to Adam about his honesty and not trying to hide behind a curtain, like another idol (whom I won’t name) did. And, yes, I do love the photo shoot he did, and not just because I think he looks good, but because I truly like him as a person. I have found that some gays are more loving and caring than alot of straights are, and to me, that makes a person likable.

I didn’t mean to give a sermon, but just wanted to express my view and opinion.

Nana, what about Charles Nelson Reilly! One of the greatest entertainers ever, Weird Al even wrote a song about him! Youtube it.

I’m just waiting for the day where we can all accept others for being gay or straight so that I can attack the concept that people fit in little stereotypical boxes and point out that human sexuality is far more diverse and complex.

Human sexuality is less like a teeter-totter and more like a spider web, and people are closer to the middle than they’d like to think.

Oh, by the way, I’m the spider!

I read the whole Details article (thanks, RH). Have to say, after reading it, I like Adam more and have a certain amount of respect for him. He seems to still have his head on straight (insert joke here) considering the fame he’s achieved and he doesn’t seem to really give a sh*t what the media says one way or another! Good for him.

Maybe we’ll soon get to a point where any article about a celebrity or performer or anyone else won’t make any mention of the person’s orientation. (Isn’t it ironic that the same media that extols the virtue of acceptance is also always the first to put labels on thing?!!)

i am sick, sick, sick of the lambert media overkill… it has gotten to be too much, and it’s getting to be embarrassing watching the press just fawn all over someone who hasn’t proven himself yet… is anyone questioning why 19e and idol are doing such a hard sell with this guy… he’s talented, but i’m beginning to feel idol is showing no respect fr their chosen winner – what incentive does anyone have to win, when it seems 19e will promote anyone they see fit over the winner… this is out of hand, and all i have to say is adam is either being set up to make it big time, or he is being propped up to fail spectacularly… no one can live up to this kind of hype, and i’m tired of it, and him already.

Morning!

Running a bit late this morning.

We had a doe in our yard last night with either a broken or a deformed leg. Since hubby is not allowed to use his weapons in our town, we called the police. Hubby and the nice officer found the deer but she bolted into the woods before they could “help” her. If the leg is broken, she’s in a great deal of pain and needs to be dispatched. If the leg is deformed then that signals a problem with the population. Too many deer for one feeding ground starts to wreak havoc with their physical stability.

As for Adam being “over-hyped”…..People who believe in Adam see a potential to reach an audience that no other Idol has touched. He’s so far away from being your average American Idol(see Kris Allen) and so uniquely talented that the powers that be in Idol-land would be stupid not to make every effort to shoot him out of the cannon…so to speak.

I just watched Adam’s Time For Miracles video. Clearly, it means to promote the movie 2012 but it’s very good, very emotional, especially toward the end and Adam does a great job. One quality that Adam brings to the table is that he’s not just a singer but an actor. He acts while he’s singing. Not many Idols have been able to do that. Only Constantine comes to mind and maybe Kat on a few of her songs. Adam is always intense but he starts this song very subdued and it works well.

Saw most of the Adam video (2012) on one of the entertainment “news” shows and he said that what he likes about that song is that it shows the great love between the members of the family that are at the heart of the movie or something like that.

And D beat me to it — 19e et al would be plum CRAZY not to promote Adam — he’s going to sell, and sell big — not because of controversy, tho’ that doesn’t HURT sales so much — but because he’s entertaining. And after all, isn’t that what it’s all about — er, i mean, after making money of course.

I see no reason why Entertainment19 should not promote Adam. Yes, he’s alittle far out, but imho, that’s what makes him stand out more than past idols. They know that he is marketable and they will back him as far as they can. His personal preferences be dammed and should NOT matter to anyone as long as he’s not pushing his lifestyle on others. He has talent, sexuality, charisma, good looks and a come hither smile. I just think he has what it takes to be a star and hope he goes far with his career.

While there are plenty who succumb to scams and hoaxes, i think MOST of us here are a little more, at the very least, skeptical in nature of the way far out stuff. Most of us here appear to think much more deeply than the average man-on-the-street (kudos to Steve Allen). So while we do enjoy the far out, the esoteric, the witty, the strange — in music, movies, books, etc., we also most of us seem to have our feets firmly planted, if not on the ground, then not much more that chair’s height above the ground. What will be interesting to watch is how many people out there in the masses glom onto the idea that 2012 is “it” for humanity…. i fear a few at least will act like the end is nigh and to H*** with morality or ethics…

as if that wasn’t happening enough already “out there”…
