Bucky Covington channels Nickelback, Kat McPhee does a breast cancer awareness video

Bucky Covington’s latest single “I Want My Life Back” is his first one that didn’t make the top 15, peaking at No. 32. He had three hits prior to that: “A Different World,” “It’s Good to Be Me” and “I’ll Walk.”

His next song is a cover of the Nickelback hit “Gotta Be Somebody.” I wonder if country radio will pick it up. If you hate Nickelback, this is actually one of their more tolerable songs.

While I’m not a huge fan of folks covering recent pop hits, country artists have done it before. Gary Allan got one not too long ago with “Best I’ve Ever Had,” first a hit for Vertical Horizon. Any other good examples?

Here’s the original Nickelback song in case you avoid top 40 radio:

-Kat McPhee took part in a Funny or Die video about breast cancer awareness also featuring Alyson Hannigan (”How I Met Your Mother”), Minka Kelly (”Friday Night Lights”), Emily Deschanel (”Bones”) and Jaime King (”Sin City”)

THE BOOBY SCARE Featuring Alyson Hannigan, Emily Deschanel, Kat McPhee, Minka Kelly and Jaime King – watch more funny videos

-Adam Lambert thanks his fans for donating $229,000 for Donorschoose.org to help public-school classroom art programs.

-Ryan Seacrest, as a producer is responsible for “Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami,” wants to do a reality show with Khloe Kardashian and her new hubby the Laker Lamar Odom. More here.

Rodney, is that Adam Lambert in the picture? If so, it sure doesn’t look anything like him and must one of very young Adam.

Deirdre already beat you on the vid with Kat McPhee.

You Don’t Have To Own A Cat To Appreciate This One!

You don’t even have to like ‘em!

We were dressed and ready to go out for the New Years Eve Party. We
turned on a night light, turned the answering machine on, covered our
pet parakeet and put the cat in the backyard.

We phoned the local cab company and requested a taxi. The taxi arrived
and we opened the front door to leave the house.

The cat we put out in the yard, scoots back into the house. We didn’t
want the cat shut in the house because she always tries to eat the bird.

My wife goes out to the taxi, while I went inside to get the cat. The
cat runs upstairs, with me in hot pursuit. Waiting in the cab, my wife
doesn’t want the driver to know that the house will be empty for the
night. So, she explains to the taxi driver that I will be out soon,
“He’s just going upstairs to say Goodbye to my mother.”

A few minutes later, I get into the cab. “Sorry I took so long,” I said,
as we drove away. “That stupid b!tch was hiding under the bed. I had to
poke her with a coat hanger to get her to come out! She tried to take
off, so I grabbed her by the neck. Then, I had to wrap her in a blanket
to keep her from scratching me. But it worked! I hauled her fat azz
downstairs and threw her out into the back yard!”

The cab driver hit a parked car.

Great joke, Nana!

There are 4 judges on X Factor but they know hos to shut up when they need to…even Simon.

And yes, Simon has hinted that Paula would be hired as a judge on X Factor. IMO, that would ruin the show, mostly because Paula never knows when to shut up and Simon becomes a brat when she’s around.

If it first you don’t succeed, try and try again.

I’m getting out alittle early today. Have to take memory to the vet. Everybody have a great evening. Keep a song in your heart, a smile on your face and a tap in your toes. Be careful when on the roads and highways.

Catch ya later……………………….

“Oh, Rodney…..” I believe we do have some Idol news today. According to Adam Shankman new permanent judge on SYTYCD: “I’m co-directing and producing a variety special starring Carrie Underwood for Fox with Nigel Lythgoe,” Shankman told TVGuideMagazine.com. It’s being made as a possible pilot!

Pardon me while I go all, “EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!” K, there, I feel better! ;)

Linny, I *might* have been a tad excited when I posted that, but it said this: “…a now-permanent slot as a judge for So You Think You Can Dance?…” I don’t watch, so…

Morning!

The question for the day: If you could pick 5 Idols who could have or even should have won, who would they be?

I have an odd assortment.

1. Melinda Doolittle/Adam Lambert (I really can’t decide between them and they are so different that it’s the apples and oranges problem)

3. Michael Johns (I know, I know but I thought he was really good.

4.Bo Bice ( I really loved Bo but Carrie deserved the win.

5. Constantine Maroulis ( I’m gonna hear about this pick ALL day)

Good mornin’, y’all! D, that’s a very interesting question. Hmm, for me…

1. Tamyra Gray – not necessarily win, but she should’ve gone up against Kelly in the final. I think she could’ve beaten her.

2. Allison Iraheta – the girl can flat out sing…and I definitely liked her personality.

3. Jennifer Hudson – I know, hindsight. Still, looking back at that season, she was the best one.

4. Clay – I wasn’t a huge fan, and might not particularly care for his personality at times, but he has an amazing voice.

5. Chris Daughtry – either him or Katherine should’ve beaten Taylor.

Overall, the way I feel about some contestants now is different than when they were on the show, so it’s a bit difficult to place them. Not to mention that having clear cut faves in S1 and S4 took those out of consideration. ;)

Rick, hon, no AGT **IS** a variety show, unfortunately, with very limited run, LOL. I’d like to see a regular variety show along the lines of teh old Ed Sullivan show!!! no contest, just a wide variety of “stuff” :-)

Melinda, Adam, Chris, Bo, Michael, Allison — all would have been fantastic as winners IMHO, and i LOVED Constantine, D, so at least you’re not alone!!!!

Nuts! I forgot all about Chris Daughtry. Maybe I should make it a list of 10.

I wouldn’t pick JHud. She’s a different singer today than she was back in season 3. She’s more seasoned now…she’s a better performer now. She had a great voice but was very raw back then.

Clay… I could add him to a top 10 list. He’s been such a disappointment. His voice his wonderful but his follow through has been weak.

Tamyra would definitely be in my top 10.

Rickster, since when did D become the Nana? Do you have some sort of insider info? ;)

D, that’s why it’s hard. I really haven’t been terribly disappointed with the winners. (ho, I haven’t been as invested with the exception of Allison. And really, knowing now that that not winning isn’t going to mean failure, makes me wonder…have we gotten to the point where winning isn’t AS important? I think the newer contestants have noticed this, and play into it.

Oh, and to be honest with you…I had a hard time coming up with 5, Definitely can’t see having a Top 10. I do think I could make a list of “who should’ve gone further in the competition…”

Yes, “I Want My Life Back” is the very first song released by Bucky Covington that did not enter into the Top 20. It is a really good song. But after two releases with no music video’s to be seen, it was forgotten quickly. Bucky’s studio version of his Nickelback cover “Gotta Be Somebody” is really good. Bucky just did a concert in his hometown of Rockingham, NC and during that time a video was shot along with a GAC (Great American Country) special. This should really push this song along. While some people may question his choice of releasing a “cover” song, this isn’t going to hurt him. Right now another song is out, Jimmy Wayne is covering Hall & Oates song “Sara Smile” and it is good too. I want everyone to give these cover songs a chance. Bucky’s more country version of “Gotta Be Somebody” is very upbeat and happy sounding, just what you need on a long drive home from work or just a bad day. Go take a second listen everybody!

I just listened to Nickelback’s version of GOTTA BE SOMEBODY and then Bucky’s version. I must say, I really like Bucky’s version better. It’s a great song and I think Bucky will do great with it. Especially, like KgatorKerri said…there will be a video this time and that will help the song get the exposure that it needs. I can’t wait to see the video!
