Kellie Pickler at Wild Bill’s Oct. 16, Ruben Studdard joins Fox Theatre David Foster show

kellie-pickler-countrymusicislove6

If you missed Kellie Pickler opening for Taylor Swift earlier this month, she’s taking a solo turn next month October 16 at Wild Bill’s in Duluth.

Tix start at $25 and info is here. She will also be featured on “American Idol Rewind,” which returns October 2 with season five. TV Guide Channel will start airing it at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. that day and 1 p.m. October 3.

I’ve spoken relatively speaking to Taylor Hicks, Kellie and Elliott Yamin. The TV show has made almost everyone else, except Chris Daughtry and Katharine McPhee, available to talk. I’ve asked for Paris Bennett, given her local ties, and Lisa Tucker because she’s working with Atlanta’s Ne-Yo. I’ve also requested Bucky Covington and Ace Young. I’d really like to speak to Kat but the show said her people have not gotten back to them yet.

Also, Ruben Studdard is part of the David Foster & Friends show at Fox Theatre October 28. Tix are a bit pricey, ranging from $57 to $127. He joins Peter Cetera (Chciago), Philip Bailey (Earth, Wind & Fire) and former Buckhead man Michael Johns. Get tickets here.

And what was Bruce Gowers, who inexplicably won an Emmy for directing “Idol” last Sunday, thinking when he said the following after the Emmys?

“I think there’ll be a lot more fun on the show than there was before,” Gowers said backstage. “I think we’re going to get even higher ratings.”

Higher ratings? I doubt it. More fun? We’ll see about that.

Chciago? Isn’t that where the Persident, Oamba, is from? LOL Sometimes the goof-ups make me laugh out loud! Thanks, Rodney! :-) Hey, did anyone else notice that Bruce Gowers didn’t thank a single member of the on-air talent in his acceptance speech?
D, hope your doggie is better today. So sorry that the little guy is having problems.
I’d love to see Pickler at Wild Bill’s. Wish I had the money for it!

Morning all. Rodney, Idol has been on my mind, or at least my Idol blog friends here have been. I was out of town for five days, then yesterday was the expected digging through mounds of work that had accumulated. I peeked in, but saw very little activity, so I chalked it up to the rains/floods, etc. D, I do hope Gus gets better and that his problem is the lesser of the possibilities.

Nana, I was stunned at Sharon Osbourne’s chunkiness too. Thinking back to AGT, she is always dressed in something drapy and black, so I guess it was hidden well. Her arms in particular were huge. Guess that is where the kids got their weight problems, although I never knew it. I kept looking at Sharon and thinking how the shoe was on the other foot, now that someone she loves is up there.

May have to get a group of gal friends together and go see Kellie. Sure it would be a fun night. Thanks for posting the information Rodney.

Hopefully, you can get your interview with Kat and Chris approved and set up.

The guy who couldn’t bring the show in on time to save his life gets an Emmy? Who votes? Not any of the show’s fans, that’s for sure!

As usual, I’m looking forward to Idol Rewind. The 5th season is kind of iconic to many people so I’m sure we’ll see a lot of detail.

I’m hoping Rodney gets a chance at an in-person Pickler interview while she’s in town.

Hey y’all….

Haven’t been able to load this page while at work for a while, thus, my M.I.A. status. So, my thoughts in a recap:

1. Saw Divas…overall, it was quite underwhelming. Totally biased, but thank goodness for Kelly and Melissa to close the show with a bang! LOVED IT. (Speaking of, I’m thirsty…. ;) ) Adele was also extremely good, and nice surprise. Leona and Cyndi? Yawn. Miley and Sheryl? Cringe. JHUD was good, definitely. The End.

2. Shame Ryan still can’t manage an Emmy. I like him as host, and trying to keep the “commentators” in check definitely deserves one! ;)

3. I haven’t listened to Kris’ single yet, so…no comment.

4. Pickler at Wild Bill’s? Hmm….might seriously have to think of going. Thanks for the heads up!

More importantly, hope everyone survived the flood with as little damage as possible. We got some minimal basement flooding, so feeling extremely blessed and lucky.

Re: Sharon’s chunkiness — remember on AGT when the not-so-funny Nick was introducing Sharon at the finale, he asked her some question about what she was looking forward to and she said something like “Getting out of this dress! It’s killing me” and wiggled like the dress was an old fashioned corset laced WAY too tightly. And I agree about the black on black on black look she maintained — but i think last night she and Oz were not particularly concerned about themselves, they were so OBVIOUSLY thrilled about and for kelly, even before she danced!! I got the impression it was all about Kelly NOT about Oz and Shar…and kudos to them for THAT. And Kelly WAS one of the top 2 females imho, following Mya. she’ll be a force to reckon with.

Rodney yes i think you’re right … too many people out here are struggling just to keep dry and, as they say, their heads above water. multiple meanings intended. i’d hoped we were done, but woke up at 5 am feeling like my head would burst — the pressure was back on and it’s cloudy all over again this morning.

and I too wish i could afford to go see Kellie, she’s a hoot. I truly feel like everyone may have underestimated her “smarts” because she’s sooooooooooooooooo [being PC here] countrified. She may not be the most edumacated young lady around, but i think she’s plenty savvy!!

take care you guys.

You sort of made my point about Sharon, linny. She was just a thrilled mama last night. I hope this gives her some perspective now in dealing with people she’s judging on AGT. I loved Ozzie’s interaction with Kelly. He was actually “normal!”

I’m back! I have a major gripe, if anyone wants to hear it.
My daughter went back to her teaching job today, students are still out because 45 backroads are still out and the water systems are still out. My daughter calls me, she had no problems at all getting to work. Here is the gripe, alot of teachers aqre complaining big time because they had to go to work today! I think they should be a bit grateful to have a job and that their houses are still here and that their 2 year old wasn’t swept from their arms during the flood! I’m better now!

I was pleasantly surprised by Kelli’s preformance on DWTS too, also thougt that Mya reminded me of Audrey in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

I wonder what the criteria is for this Emmy? How well you f_d up the show?

As much as I don’t like country music, Kellie Pickler could be fun to see in person. We’ll see.

Meanwhile, I hope nobody is flooded too badly. I am fortunately on vacation down in FL during this mess so I have been following it on the news. No idea what my house looks like right now.

And D – I wish the best for your little Gus. Please keep us posted.

Harriett – I’m here, just not so active. You know how it is when work calls out to you.

Harm – You have a right to gripe. Let the associates who complain think about what has been lost in the flooding and be grateful they nor their loved ones were included in those losses. If they were, THEN, they can complain.

Andi, hope you’re having a great time in Florida.

Nana, thanks I’m enjoying the R&R.

Harm – I guess these people need to trade places with my job, where we are on hourly wage and get sent home early when the cases are done. Going home can result in a skimpy paycheck. Most of us are grateful we still have a job, and happy when we can stay at work. How bout being grateful for being able to get to work, without the losses that others have had, as Nana said. And that they don’t get sent home early with half a day’s pay.

I’m one of the lucky ones. I live on high ground around the Lake Lucerne area. Only problem I’m having is finding ways around all the washed out bridges.

Everybody have a great evening. Be safe and always keep a song in your heart, a smile on your face and a tap in your toes. Be careful when on the roads and highways.

Catch all of you later……………..

Linny, sorry…, Lady Linny, you’re so right about Kellie P. She may turn out to be a lot like Dolly Parton. While others may not necessarily taking her seriously, she’ll continue to entertain people and find a place on the Country charts. I think she just may be smart enough to sustain a lasting career.

Good Morning Everybody.

Today’s Quote: “Remember not only to say the right thing at the right moment, but far more difficult, is to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.”

Heard a short interview this morning on the radio with Carrie Underwood and she said that she co-wrote her new single “Casanova Cowboy”. She stated that writing it was alot of fun and she hoped to be able to do more writing in the future.

KP is NOT just another “dumb” blond. She may give the impression that she is, but that gal has smarts. I can see her slowly climbing in the country muisc genre and lasting for years to come. As I have said before here, fast moving isn’t always the best. Take for instance, Gretchen Wilson, she moved at a rapid pace, and now, one never hears about her. She had maybe two/three hits, and she has been dropped from her label. Sometimes, slow is much better. I think Kellie is here to stay, and she is doing it the right way.

I saw where my predication about Macy leaving DWTS was right on the money. I was kinda suprised that Ashley Hamilton went before Tom Leland. I was totally wrong on that one. I know it’s way early in the season, but I think the final two will come down to Aaron Carter and JoAnna. We shall see.

I don’t think Daughtry does that many interviews anyway but yes, he has eluded me all these years– as has Carrie and Kelly Clarkson. The big three!

Morning!

Is anyone else having trouble with the “enter your comments here” not disappearing when clicked?

Rodney, one of these days you’ll get an interview with the big three.

Macy/Ashley leaving DWTS was exactly the right pick, imo. Man, they were bad!

I have to delete the “enter your comments here” everytime I post. Just a nuance we have to deal with. Maybe someone at AJC will take pity on us and correct the problem.

Rodney, you know the saying, “Good things come to those who wait?” Well, when you’re granted the interviews by the big three, they will be great. Patience is virtue.

Macy looked like she always wore her “sour lemom” face , with the way her mouth was puckered.

New blog entry up! Hope you’re all having a great morning. My wife has started doing this 7 a.m. exercise “boot camp” so I’ve been spending the time blogging early.
