Z-100 yesterday debuted Kris Allen’s first single ‘Live Like We’re Dying.’

Okay, ‘No Boundaries’ was his first single in reality but we’d all like to pretend that never happened. It’s jaunty and upbeat, very pop friendly.

Check it out here:

His album is set to come out November 17.

-And our favorite reader of this blog Chris Sligh returns again with advice for the “Idols” leaving the tour.

It’s worth reading. He’s clear headed and realistic. He also noted that Jared Cotter from his season, who just missed the top 12 season six co-wrote “Down,” a huge hit with Jay Sean. I didn’t even know that. Kudos to Jared!

So, my message to Season 8. You’re not going to be successful. You’re not going to be millionaires (with the exception of MAYBE Kris and Adam). You are going to struggle. No one will care about you. Those fans who’ve been asking for your autograph all tour long – 98% of them don’t give a flying poo about you once next season of Idol starts. They’re not going to buy your album when you put it out 2 years late. Chances are you’ll never feel the rush of playing in front 10,000 people who care about you again. Your star is waning and remarkably quickly.

Chris admits he’s not a star. And he has to travel in a van. But he makes a living doing music. And he’s happy about that. Go Chris!

Morning all. Traffic was much better this morning. Only 1 hour this morning – despite 78 being closed at the Yellow River. (I love my alternate routes!)

Nana, hope hubby made it home okay yesterday!

Thanks Rodney, i’ll have to check Kris out later — hard to do at work — ANd you gotta love Chris Sligh!

Nana, I’ve got a co-worker who makes part of your ride the “other” way — from down near Covington to Athens — her ride home took 1.5 hours, heading right into the storm… you both have my sympathy and empathy — but i can honestly say, i am SO glad I am not doing this any longer!!!

Nana asked on the previous blog — yep, i watched DWTS last night — i don’t know with all the OTHER stuff i watch if i will be there all season, because it may be more than my DVR can handle, but yes, that opening all-male pro number was great. not-so-little Aaron Carter was pretty good, lots of potential there — the diminutive skateboarder has potential too, i think — and don’t he and Chelsea (SYTYCD alumna) look great together, lol… but if i have to choose between DWTS and SYTYCD, SYT wins hands down.

lots of work, so i’ll catch you later when (if) i catch up here!

try to stay dry!!!

Thanks Rodney, wise words from Chris. Some of the fans need to realize that as much as the Idol’s themselves.

Great statement from Mr. Sligh! I haven’t listened to Kris Allen’s song yet, maybe when I am home later. What is Z100?
Hope everyone stays safe and dry today. Work had a 2 hour delay opening – woohoo!!

I like Kris’ single. Sounds like a catchy little song that will get stuck in my head for days. Hope everyone has stayed dry today. It’s supposed to get really awful again around 4 this afternoon, so be careful going home!!

Morning…um, I mean Afternoon!

Kris’ song sounds very Maroon 5 to me.

Picked up the dogs this morning and by the time we got home, Gus, my little dog, was blind. totally blind! I took him to the vet and then to a vet opthalmologist who discovered that his optic nerve is swollen. His sight has gradually returned and he seems to be fine now. The doc says it’s either an infection or cancer. Obviously I’m hoping for the infection. He’s had blood tests to try to determine what is causing the swelling and he’s now on antibiotics and prednizone. I’ll get the results of the blood tests in about a week.

I don’t think I have to tell y’all…I have NOT had a good morning!

Deirdre, I hope Gus just has an infection and that he bounces back soon. Hang in there my friend, things are bound to get better for you.

I haven’t heard Kris’s new song yet, but will listen when I get home. For some reason, and all at once, I can’t hear anything from links on my computer here at the office. Was able to last week, but this week, no can do. My speakers are working since I’m able to hear my cd’s and radio. Can’t even hear anything from youtube. Everyone else here can. Doesn’t make sense. Even our IT manager can’t figure out why.

Headed home, so ya’ll have a great evening. Be safe and keep a song in your heart, a smile on your face and a tap in your toes. Be careful on the roads and highways.

Don’t forget the ladies dance tonight on DWTS.

Personally, I was looking for selection ‘c’ in Rodney’s poll. I do think it’s “Sounds like a catchy little song that will get stuck in my head for days” (ala Heather) and will make the Top 40 easily but it also is not what I expected. I thought he’d have a little more alternative rock sound on his first single.

D, hope you get the “better” news regarding your Gus. (Hard to use the term ‘better’ when it’s more like the choice of lesser evils.) I assume you’ve already contacted the kennel where you boarded him and asked all the pertinent questions?

Nana, isn’t it obvious? Pacman has left the blog and is now making a home at YOUR pc!
Seriously, though, do you have the capability to restore your work pc to an earlier date when the sound was working properly? (Without losing any important data?) Sometimes that’s easier than going through all the logistics to find the root problem.

Afternoon folks! (Pulling off my scuba mask & regulator and coming up for air.)

Deidre, that’s horrible about your dog. I hope it’s just an infection. It’s tough losing any pet.

Back to the grind! (Putting the mask back on & the regulator back in.)

Good Morning Everybody. It’s “Hump Day”

Today’s Quote: “It’s better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.”

What a wonderful day we had yesterday! :) Hopefully, the worst of the rain and flooding is behind us. My heart breaks for those whom have lost loved ones and their homes.

On DWTS last night, I was amazed at Kelly Osborne’s performance. She was really good, in fact, imo, her performance was one of the better ones. Wasn’t to crazy about Macy’s. Liked Mya(sp). Kathy Ireland was just so so. Didn’t like Debbie (the first one). Melissa Joan Hart did a good job. Of the ladies, I think either Debbie or Macy could be eliminated tonight and Tom (politician) could be the male elimination.

Did any of you notice Sharon Osborne and how heavy she looked? I swear, she doesn’t look that big on AGT, or maybe I’m just seeing things.

Deirdre, how is Gus doing?

Geez. It was one awfully quiet day yesterday, eh? I think folks were focused on the aftermath of the rains. The bosses even had me working on it from the media angle. And Deirdre–sorry about your dog. I do hope he’s better. My wife also noticed Sharon Osbourne looking a bit bloated. I did write about DWTS over on the other blog. I’m working on a new blog entry now. Coming soon!

Morning!

Thanks for the good wishes. Gus is currently behaving normally. Time will tell. The pills he’s taking are easy, I just throw them in his food. But have you ever tried putting eye drops in a 12 pound dog’s eyes? I don’t recommend it!

I saw some of DWTS last night and also thought Kelly Osborne was good…and she looked cute as a button.

We’re drying out here but we didn’t get nearly as much rain as other parts of GA. My son couldn’t get to work Monday. He might have to borrow Rickster’s scuba gear.

New blog entry is up for the handful of people reading this. (Traffic has been way down this week. Idol is not on people’s minds, that’s for sure!)
