The Hollywood Reporter got the scoop on Jennifer Hudson’s baby.
His name is David Daniel Otunga, Jr., named for his father and Hudson’s fiancee. Hudson tells me he weighed in at seven pounds, fourteen ounces. And Jennifer and David, Sr., by the way, did not know the sex of the baby in advance. They bought blue and pink clothes, just in case!
She’s had a rough year after her family tragedy last fall. But she clearly has found a way to bounce back. Interestingly, she never officially “announced” her pregnancy.
And Simon Cowell has intimated in the past about leaving. But he’s not – at least for three more years, according to Hollywood Reporter.
“We’ve heard from Fox, who has asked us for approval for Simon Cowell to appear for three more years on ‘Idol,’ ” said chairman and CEO Robert Sillerman of CKX, parent company of “Idol” co-producer 19 Entertainment. “They, in their negotiations with Cowell, have asked us to pre-approve him not only for ‘American Idol’ ‘09, which has begun taping, but they have also asked us for approval for ‘10 and ‘11, indicating to us that they’re finishing their negotiation with Cowell. We did grant approval for that quite obviously.”

American Idol auditions we’d love to have seen: Cyndi Lauper
Randy: “What’s with the dude with the rubber band in his beard? That is SOOO not dope. For me… for you… it was just a’right… a bit pitchy at times.”
Kara: “You’re so unusual. But that’s what makes you such a unique artist!”
Paula: “Love the outfit – and the hat. Listening to you makes a girl wanna have fun. You’re zzzzzzzzzzzz”
Simon: “I actually liked it. I think you’re better than what you just showed us. You have a very unique personality and are deceptively talented.”

ARBW — i’m not being sarcastic here, i really want to know — you id yourself as “a real black woman” (albeit abbreviated) — what is the difference between, and how do you TELL the difference between, a “real” black woman and an “unreal” black woman? [notice i did NOT use the word "fake"]. No, really — i’m serious. I always wonder when people use identifiers like that where it comes from.
By the way, yes, that year was a fantastic year for the R&B style divas — but it was a shame because there was no way a couple of really good singers wouldn’t get eliminated early, just because of splitting the votes (kind of like Kris and Danny last year, eh?)
And way big congrats to JHud and Big David on the birth of Li’l David.

You’re publishing someone’s IP address? That is not cool dude. You can get sued. Nothing illegal was done by those aliases but what you did in a public forum and devulging private information about your bloggers is a violation of privacy and the AJC can be sued. I would highly tell you to remove it.

Yes JTesla. Sued. You are the one who is clueless. This is a public forum where anyone can enter and the fact that a newspaper writer is devulging private information about his bloggers is in fact a violation of privacy. And the fact that a well known newspaper like the AJC would engage in this type of behavior is befuddling. Devulving that kind of private information sets up person for harrassment and possible criminal attacks. If something were to happen to those bloggers by an insane reader, the AJC COULD and WOULD be held responsible. IP addresses can be hacked by any one of you on this blog who may have that skill set. If someone gets PO’d enough, they can go to that person’s home and murder them…all because RHo decided to make private information public. Don’t think this stuff doesn’t happen. Read the front page of AJC today…murder and mayhem. Everyday…murder and mayhem. Just sayin…

I have also hear that VB is very icy towards the contestants. On Access how aloof and icy she was. IMO, she is very snobbish. She certainly will not match Paula’s charm. Also, they were saying not to count Paula competely out right yet. The offer of 10 mil is still on the table per one of the reporters of AH. I guess we will have to wait and see.
When my granddaughter has her next audition, maybe I can find out some scoop from her. If I do, you know that I will let ya’ll know.
It wouldn’t surprise me in the least, if Simon didn’t become an executive producer of AI. It certainly would give him more input and say over things. He does qualify for such a position. The more I think about that idea, the better I like it.

Professor, and others making the same point, unfortunately, “society” has taught our young men and women that it’s perfectly fine to have a baby with only one parent BY CHOICE rather than by happenstance. I believe everyone HAS a choice, and should exercise their right to choose — but what i ALSO advocate strongly is something called “responsibility” in conjunction with “consequences” — choices are not FREE, choices have prices, and sometimes those prices are HUGE — and while some may “get away with” not paying the price themselves, they should be taught, and firmly, that SOMEONE is paying the price FOR them if they aren’t paying it themselves….

Even though society has made it acceptable, personally I don’t agree with it. Alot of the times, it’s the children that have to pay the price. Oh, I know that it can also happen in a two parent household, but still most of the time it’s still the child that will suffer. We all read it everyday in the printed news as well as the TV news. But, JHud and David’s baby will be one of the fortunate ones. And, yes becoming a parent is a huge responsibility and one had better be ready for it when it happens.
Nearly time to wrap my day and head home. Be safe, be happy and remember to keep a song in your heart, a smile on your face and a tap in your toes. Be safe and careful when on the roads.

8:02 am
Harriett, I never understood the appeal of the 9 year old anyway. I found her to be quite annoying and full of herself. The Texas Tenors were okay, but the middle-range voice was way too loud for a trio. He needs to learn to back it down to create nice harmony. A less sappy song would be great, too. LOL Sorry, soap box was there, so I stood on it.
I didn’t think there were any really exceptional performances last night.

I think the tenors were not perfect, but better than most last night. I agree about the need for more blending of voices, and the song really was cheezy, as Piers said. But, they are the type that catch the public’s fancy and are not bad to look at. BTW, is it just me, or is Sharon something of a dirty old woman? Harriett, Sharon is a bit of a dirty girl, but no more so than Kara, who practically slobbered on Adam all season on AI. Sharon is much wittier than Kara, so I’ll forgive it. Intelligence makes all the difference. Rickster, I like Paradiso Dance, too, but only because they are so sincerely in love with each other. Not the best dancer/acrobats I have seen, but the appeal lies in the cow eyes they aim at one another throughout the performance. As for Hoff, ick. That’s all I’m going to say on the subject. Ick! I liked the Texas Tenors as well. The 63 y/o lady dancer was not that good at all. Don’t think she will tarry very long. Rickster, in the beginning Sharon gave the show a little bit of an edge, but she is such a witch now that I can’t take her critques seriously. To give the devil his due, she does have show business credentials in that she manages her husband, but sketchy at best. The way she asked the blonde guy to show his teeth and telling him how “hot” he is just turned my stomach. Last year she alluded to one of the men being a “big boy.” I think you can imagine what she was talking about. YUK!

Rickster, Sharon managed the addle-brained rocker’s career for many years and made what would have been a flash-in-the-pan act into an icon. She is definitely not the judge that Piers is, but I appreciate her wit. Even if it is sometimes a little sexist.
The Obama imitator was terrible the first time, so I’m not sure why he was put through to this level. The violinists were only there for the drool factor. Hot, but SO not talented!!

I agree that Paradiso Dancers were probably the best of the night. Both of the “wild card” bring-backs were only mediocre. I too don’t like the little girl, but lots of people DO like her “spunk” so… I like the tenors, agree that the 1st one was a tad too overpowering, but otherwise they have a lot of potential to be a fun group…i definitely think that the older dancing lady is toast, as are hopefully the three wacko sisters who can NOT sing… they were annoying as all get out anyway… i enjoyed the 5 sisters who dance — their precision moves are quite good… ummmmm
by the way, any attempt to make it sound like this is an American Idol ONLY blog are misplaced and a blatant attempt by **someone** to start trouble, so it’s back to IGGITing folks, and those who are trying to start trouble probably REMEMBER that phrase…

LOL Linny. Miss Tennessee has been at it for two years; you don’t expect her to be rid of all that bitterness overnight do you? Two years is a long time to hold on to hatred, and here I thought I was the one who needed to get a life for blogging about American Idol
As for AGT, I have watched one act this year, the 9 year old girl. She annoyed me. I can understand why they have Sharon, but since I don’t watch it I can’t comment much on her judging ability.

It’s an old joke (from Mary Poppins) but I still think it’s funny:
Man 1: “I know a man with a wooden leg named Smith.”
Man 2: “What does he call his other leg?”

Highlander… I went back in the archives and found this:
LA Times has numbers on what Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell might get
July 27th, 2009 by Rodney Ho
The L.A. Times, using unnamed sources, says Paula Abdul is making $4 million and is seeking $12 million a year.
Simon Cowell, already making $36 million a year for “Idol,” may get a new multi-year deal worth $45 million, the paper’s sources say.

Miss Tennessee has had at least one of her addresses blocked. But the whining…that just wasn’t her style(she’s more a “get mad then get even” type)so I have my doubts.
As for AGT, I obviously didn’t see enough of it to make an informed judgment about last night’s show…just didn’t like anything that I saw.

An elderly couple went to Las Vegas for a week-end. The wife had never been and was amazed at what she saw. When a lady of the night approached them, the husband told her he wasn’t interested and to move along. The wife, not knowing, asked her husband why he was rude to the pretty young thing. He replied that she was hooker and the wife couldn’t believe it. He told her that when they got to their room he would prove it. When they got to the room, he called the desk and asked that they send up the young lady. The wife hid in the bathroom when she came up. The husband asked the price and was given a range of 150.00 and up depending on the services. He said the price was to high, and that we was looking for something around $25.00. Later that night while they were dining, the hooker came up to him, took a look at the wife, and calmly said. “See what you get for $25.00.”
