Idols Live tour starts in Portland, Jennifer Hudson to perform at MJ tribute, Michael Johns opening sales numbers

I hope you all had a wonderful July 4th weekend!

The “Idols “Live” tour, which comes to Gwinnett Arena at the end of the month, opened in Portland last night.

If you want to know the set list, MJ has it here.

The contestants perform in order of elimination. Matt Giraud sings a song by a Georgia band (The Black Crowes) and “Georgia on My Mind.” There is one Michael Jackson tribute by Danny Gokey. There are plenty of relatively recent songs by the likes of Amy Winehouse, Pink, the Fray and Keane.

-CNN says Jennifer Hudson will peform at the Staples Center for the Michael Jackson tribute memorial.

- Former Buckhead man Michael Johns sold 5,000 copies of his first week.

That’s not a terribly huge number but I hope he can sell enough to make some money for himself.

-Top digital sales. Jordin Sparks “Battlefield” sold 51,000 copies. His single moved up modestly this week on the top 40 charts from 20 to 19. (The Taylor Swift single “You Belong With Me” totally leapfrogged it.).

Kelly Clarkson’s second single “I Do Not Hook Up” has peaked and is already losing steam, peaking at No. 8 and is now down to No. 9, on the mediabase 24/7. Daughtry’s single “No Surprise” is stalling out in airplay numbers but did move up from 27 to 22. He’s No. 8 on the Hot AC chart and 38K in digital sales (375K total) David Cook’s “Come Back To Me” is at No. 9 on the Hot AC chart with 16K in digital downloads this week and 232K total.

Kellie Pickler’s “Best Days of Your Life” edged up to No. 13 on the country chart. It was the third top selling digital download at 34K of the week and has sold 549K total. Bucky Covington’s “I Want My Life Back” is up to 31 with a very modest increase in airplay.

The top 5 album sales:
Kelly Clarkson “All I Ever Wanted” 7K (629K total)
Carrie Underwood “Carnival Ride” 7K (2.91 mil total)
Kellie Pickler “Kellie Pickler” 6K (255K)
David Cook “David Cook” 6K (1.19 mil)
Daughtry “Daughtry” 5K (4.48 mil)

Morning!

I hope that everyone had a spectacular 4th and a wonderful weekend.

JT, welcome back from Kansas!

I guess this year’s Idols have had a good kick off to their tour. I’m looking forward to hearing all the tour stories. Should be interesting.

Good morning! I am worn out from my long weekend. Seems like I worked at something every single day. I did take Sat. afternoon to go to my sister’s and cook out, but other than that, it was run, run, run. I froze four and a half dozen ears of silver queen corn, which is a hard job, but, boy, will I ever be glad in the middle of winter to have this taste of summer. The farmer’s market folks are my new best friends this time of year. We got peaches and my sister and I made peach cobbler, which I do NOT need, but was sooo delicious. Our peaches are especially sweet this year.

Greetings, everyone. I don’t usually do mornings but I have some dryer repair to tend to today. So checking in for a moment to see what is what.
Glad to see that the Idol alumni are still moving albums, especially Carrie’s “Carnival Ride”. That is such an excellent cd and it is great to see her continue to sell ‘em. Daughtry’s is top-notch as well.

Well I missed the AI tour, lots of buzz in the media about it. No wait, that was just the local FOX station, all the others were still covering MJ.

In case you missed my morning greeting on the previous thread, here it is agin.

Good Morning……

Today’s Quote: “It’s fine to celebrate success but it is more important to heed the leasons of failure.”

Hope all had a safe and happy 4th and are ready to began another work week.

Offkey – Blake Lewis was the runner up on Idol the year Jordan Sparks won. I think it was season 6.

Will add to my post. Harriett, silver queen corn in the winter time is hard to beat. I have it all year round. The worst part is shucking it and cutting it off the cobb, then scraping the cobb. But boy, is it ever worth it. I love to freeze fresh veggies so I can enjoy them in the winter months. I make gallons of veg soup and put in the freezer. Come Jan and Feb, get it from the freezer and cook some cornbread and yummy. Hard to beat.

Sounds fabulous, Nana! You are right about the shucking and cutting it off! What a big job that is, but so worth it. Butter beans will be next.

I am sorry Michael Johns’ new release has not done better. I thought it was pretty good, just listening to it a couple of times. But, I did not buy it.

If you remember before last season began, Joe’s Place managed to get the top 50 list well before the top 50 show was aired. Joe’s Place is at it again, this time, getting the names and info on many of the people who have made it to the next round.

And Nana…now that I’ve mentioned the auditions…it occurs to me that we never heard(unless I missed it) about your granddaughter’s audition in Atlanta. No description of the process…no talk about the crowds….Nana…are you keeping something from us? Did she make it past the 1st round?

If she did, I know you can’t answer but your non-answer will speak volumes!!!!!

Of course, I could just be looney and we had this talk a week ago!

I just had the strangest thing happen. I posted a comment to offkey that never made it through, so, thinking I had failed to hit “submit comment,” I tried again. A message popped up saying “duplicate comment. You have already said that.” Ok, but then why did it never post? ????

I have no idea, harriett but I have noticed that they get their info piecemeal. It took them over a month, I believe, to gather the top 50 list last season.

I guess my long weekend is over! I went to the local fireworks show Friday and saw Atlanta Rhythum (sp) Section, I was with Asa, but I did manage to hear Champagne Jam and Doraville. On Saturday, one of our fireworks fell over and tried to KILL me.

Of all the available people to chase, why was I the chosen one?

I’m off to the boring chores now, if Jillian doesn’t rid herself of Wes tonight on the Bacherolette I’m going to start to believe that she has issues!

linny ,,,=^..^=,,,

Issues? Jillian? really????? i mean, she kept Wes even after what’s his name’s visit (and i’m not sure WHAT i think of that, frankly– the fact that he DID it, i mean), and in the same “breath” so to speak, took edd back….what’s with that?

all i can say is i think you HAVE to be insane to think you can “find true love” by a process of very public, very national, very programmed, very …. EWWWW …. process of elimination!!!!!

You can bet I will keep ya’ll informed about my g-daughter. Right now she’s not (can’t) saying to much.

Almost time to wrap up my day, so everyone have a great evening. Be happy, be safe and keep a song in your heart, a smile on your face and a tap in your toes. Stay safe on the roads and highways.

Harm: Are you ready for tonight? I think Jillian finally finds out about Wes.

I tried to get tics to the Gwinnett idol concert and they were sold out, but just found out I won 2 tickets online from sheknows.com! First time I’ve ever won anything and couldn’t believe it! I won’t know where the seats are till I pick them up at the will-call booth, but who cares? At least I’m going!
