Matt Rogers, who finished 11th back in season three of “American Idol,” recently had lunch with Diana DeGarmo and her mom. He has been spending the past couple of weeks in a subdivision in Kennesaw hosting a new CBS reality show “There Goes The Neighborhood,” starting August 9.

“I’d be lying to you if I didn’t tell you I was doing cartwheels inside right now,” Rogers said, of this opportunity on TV’s No. 1 network.

Eight families are trapped inside their homes for three weeks as they get eliminated one by one. One family gets $250,000. Yes, it’s another one of those “social experiment” type reality shows. Here’s my video interview with Matt, who had a lot of charm in front of the camera but wasn’t the best singer. Sort of like Michael Sarver this past year though I forgot to mention that comparison to Matt.

Matt said his strong suit is hosting though he takes pride in his karaoke. He sang “You Never Call Me By My Name” by David Allan Coe at the local Legacy Grill recently. And he noted that though he prefers country music, he had been eliminated after country night.

I shot this video in front of the big “wall.” It looks like concrete behind him but it’s actually canvas so it only “looks” like concrete.

-Ace Young is engaged, according to Us magazine.

The 28-year-old singer – who finished seventh on the fifth season of the hit Fox show – recently popped the question to Allison Fisher, 20, his costar on Broadway’s Grease.

-Syesha Mercado, who always struck us as “Broadway” all the way, has landed the Beyonce role in the national touring production of “Dreamgirls,” according to Idol Chatter.

Rodney, I enjoyed the interview with Matt Rogers and wish him great success. Just wish you had been at the lunch with Diana D! That would’ve been REALLY enjoyable. Maybe you’ll toss us a Diana pic soon to calm us down…maybe?

Good Morning………..

Today’s Quote: “In remembering a need to share, always find the time to listen.”

Is it just me or does Matt look like he has gained some weight? BTW, Rodney, great interview

Congrats to Ace and Syesha. :)

On the previous thread, I’m not sure if I agree with Gene Simmons concerning the future of Adam Lambert. Adam may not be as big a star as KISS, but he’s already very well know and will have a well enough career to live on. Metal rock, hard rock or whatever rock, rock is here to stay and will not fade into the sunset. There are still alot of people who like rock and will be fans until the end.

Heard on the radio this morning as I was driving to work, that in the 5 days that Michael Jackson has been dead, he has already made over 5 million dollars. That averages out to a mil per day. They were saying that if the sales keep going like this, he would surpass sales of Elvis and Dale Earnhardt for earnings after death.

Also, for those of you who remember Gail Storm (My Little Margie), she passed away yesterday.

Okay, think I’m through for now. Gotta get busy and pretend that I’m working.

Morning!

I always liked Matt Rogers(as I have said before). He was always charming and interesting on Idol and really doesn’t fit the Idol “mold”…he looks a little more like a linebacker than a singer.

I wish him luck with the show…he’s going to need it.

Morning everyone! I like Matt, too, and think he does the hosting thing well. Thanks for the info, Rodney. I missed the re-run last night because my cable went out just as I got home from work and did not come back on before I went to bed. I wanted to see it again.

Good morning blogsters. I haven’t been on here much lately, ’cause my dad had a heart attack this weekend. They say the worst time to have a heart attach is on a weekend, but they took him to Emory and have treated him very well – he might even get to go home today!

I can’t watch the video here at work, but always thought that Matt was a great character!!! Congrats to Ace and Syesha!

morning gang — thanks Rodney, nice interview! I too liked Matt, but realized early he, like Michael Sarver, would never cut it on Idol.

Who cares? And has anyone ever heard David Allan Coe’s black market music? It’s racist, sexist and vile. He uses the “n” word. Either Matt has never heard this stuff or he’s a closet pig.

Good luck to your Dad Lara. I had a heart attack on new years eve 2004 talk about a bad time to have one. I too went to Emory had 2 stents implanted and couldnt have asked for better care. Your dad is probably going to have to make some lifestyle changes and if he does he will come out of this ok. :-)

David Allan Coe is basically a Biker gone Musical — sort of. In his songs can be found something offensive for just about EVERYONE, “Dmarious”, not just you. It’s sort of his trademark. But in reality, he’s quite a nice guy, albeit rough — raw. I’m quite sure that you and everyone YOU know are perfect, smooth, cool, and NEVER EVER EVER offensive to ANYone, right? And “you never even call me” by DAC is a hilariously funny and fun song, especially with the “special country song ending”.

I LIKE DAC, and I’m about as far from “racist” as anyone you’ll EVER want to meet! Not only do i like people who have dark-toned skin, I actually also like folks who have lighter-toned skin!!! and all the shades in between. I have never in my 62 years seen a purely “black” person, nor a purely “white” person. Therefore, I consider everyone to be people of color. Just the amount of melatonin and other body chemicals varies to create ***GASP*** variety!!! so don’t get on your high horse and start screaming racism because someone happens to like a song YOU don’t, or a singer YOU don’t. Because get me started on the lyrics and disrespect and violence and hatred and racism shown, as KPH says, in –for example– Rap and the various genres of music so popular on the street, as it were — comparatively, DAC’s songs sound like nursery rhymes!!!!

Interesting tidbit:

The New York Post reports this morning that Simon Cowell, who is in the midst of renegotiating his American Idol contract beyond the 2010 season, has been offered between $100 million and $144 million per year.

Nana

Yep Deirdre, I heard that last week about Simon Cowell. Just a pocket full of change, right? That will make him sing another contract for sure.

Deirdre

And another interesting tidbit from TMZ:

We’ve learned Michael Jackson was not the biological father of any of his children. And Debbie Rowe is not the biological mother of the two kids she bore for Michael. All three children were conceived in vitro — outside the womb.

harriett

And, so the weirdness continues…

KPH

Simon’s not going anywhere with that kind of money dangled in front of him. None of those children look like Michael or Debbie Rowe that was easy to tell from the first time I saw them without a scarf or mask on their face. Strange very strange individual.

Deirdre

Not only that…TMZ is also reporting that Michael Jackson never officially adopted any of his kids.

KPH

June 30th, 2009

If that is true then who would get custody the state? I think they should go to the nanny that Michael requested get them in his will. His mom is too old and if they arent even actually his then it would be best for them to be with the lady who has in all probability raised them anyway. That is if she wants them. Just my opinion.

Those poor kids. How screwed up is their life now? They are probably already scarred by MJ’s weirdness–growing up wearing veils and masks, etc., but now…

Woodpappy

June 30th, 2009
3:37 pm

Yep Harriett, the kids are the one’s who are gonna suffer the most. Their “Grandmother” Jackson is too old, “Granddad” Jackson has probably tested them to see if they have any marketable value. What a SCREWED UP FAMILY.

harriett

I don’t know how old the grandmother is, but Joe Jackson is 81. Way too old, and then what will the kids do when they are gone? Is there one stable family among the brothers? I know the sisters’ situations are not stable–especially LaToya. Where is she in all of this? Have not read one thing about her. She was a mess before.

Wall Street Journal writes that yesterday Joe and Katherine Jackson sought control of MJ’s estate, claiming he died without a will. Hours later, a will drafted in 2002 surfaced, dividing the estate among his mother, kids and charities. Joe is cut out. IMHO, he should be cut out of MJ’s kids’ lives too. Joe Jackson abused his children, not just Michael, and his wife didn’t stop him. When he now says he wants to take care of his grandchildren, and give them a “normal life”, what the heck does that mean?

Interesting point; the executor lawyer, John Branca, served as MJ’s primary attorney 1980 – 2006. He was rehired THREE WEEKS ago.

It’s almost laughable (if it wasn’t so sad) that “grandma” Jackson should be awarded custody of Michael’s kids. She is the matriarch of one of the most dysfunctional families in entertainment history (and that’s saying something!) and is as much to blame for any abuse her own children endured. She was an enabler.

I was under the impression that Michael was estranged from the family. But of course, with all the money to be made off Michael’s corpse, it isn’t surprising that old Joe and the rest are gathering around.

They make the King family look like the Huxtables!

Rodney, great job on the interview with Matt. I liked him on Idol, though I never thought he would go very far (and I was right). As D said, he didn’t fit the Idol mold. But I wish him well in his hosting endeavors. And Nana, I don’t think he’s gained weight. He always looked like a linebacker.

I’ve tried to post 3 times already and it won’t come up. don’t know what’s going on other than our persnickity blog doesn’t like some innocuous word I’m using.

I will be as busy today as I have been each day this week. I don’t know why I scheduled so much to get done this week.

Just learned that Mr Hollywood will be coming home for his birthday next week. Very excited.

I’m wondering what new an ewwww-inspiring revelation about Michael Jackson will pop up today.
