David Archuleta’s dad pleads no contest in prostitution ring, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
Midvale police cited 47-year-old James J. Archuleta on Jan. 14 at a massage parlor called Queens Reiki, 7350 S. State Street, said Sgt. John Salazar.
Midvale Justice Court records show that Archuleta took a no contest plea in abeyance on Jan. 30. He paid a $582 court fee and completed a counseling class. The case will be dismissed at the end of the month if he doesn’t repeat the crime.
The newspaper said he was cited for solicitation of prostitution and was, um, “sexually gratified” by one of the masseuse girls, according to a police spokesman.
Sorry I was so late on this bit of news but I was a bit busy yesterday.
- USA Today’s Idol Chatter broke the news that former Buckhead resident Carly Smithson from season seven has formed a band with former members of Evanescence. It’s called Fallen. How apropos since she has sung “Bring Me To Life” on the “Idol” tour.
She was originally going to go solo but found this a better option:
The lineup consists of Smithson and three of the four original members of Evanescence — guitarists Ben Moody and John LeCompt and drummer Rocky Gray — as well as bassist Marty O’Brien, whose recording and touring credits include Disturbed and Kelly Clarkson.
“This band is going to be theatrical and in-your-face and huge,” Smithson says. “Everything that we do is just going to be big.”
Later this quote:
“I find it very bizarre that I sang that song on the tour, but it’s all falling into place. Never at all, in my frickin’ wildest dreams, did I think this would ever come about.”
From your fans here in Atlanta, congratulations! I can’t wait to talk to her when they go on tour!
-E! Online said Paula has not been signed, contrary to that report earlier this week by Radar Online.
“The RadarOnline info is incorrect. Negotiations are continuing. You probably won’t hear anything until closer to September, when judges are needed back to go on the road,” Paula’s publicist, Jeff Ballard, tells us.
