6/15: Bo Bice expecting baby #3, Atlanta audition pre-registration starts tomorrow

Former Atlantan Bo Bice, season four runner up, has been having as many babies as albums: he has two young children and two albums. In both cases, he’s working on No. 3. His wife Caroline is due for the third child in January, he told People.

“American Idol has a new winner each year – seems things are the same in our house,” Bice, 33, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Can’t wait to introduce our new little ‘Idol’ to the world January 31st!”

And Matt Rogers, who finished 11th season three, has gotten a new hosting gig for an upcoming reality show on CBS called “Block Party” that is being shot in Kennesaw starting today. I wrote about it in my radio/tv blog.

-The AP said about 7,000 people showed up for the Boston auditions over the weekend. MJ said that seems low but New England has given us virtually nothing in terms of vocal talent in the past. Why, I cannot tell you.

Pre-registration for “Idol” auditions start tomorrow and continue through Wednesday at the Georgia Dome. I’ll be there bright and early Thursday morning to cover the shenanigans. I’ve done it for seasons two, three and seven. So this will be my fourth time at it.

Bad weathers seems to have affected the low turnout in Boston. Kudos to those who try out, in spite of rain and odds (all “Idol” winners so far have had a Southern connection).

Looking forward to hearing your report on the Atlanta auditions, Rodney. Are they going to let you in this time or will you be on sidewalk duty again? Either way, it’s interesting. Be sure to bring your camera…who knows, you might capture a picture of the NEXT American Idol!

And a big congrats to Matt rogers. He wasn’t the best Idol the show has ever had but he always seemed like a great guy. He’s worked his way up hosting a variety of different shows, some on the Discovery Channel. Happy to hear he’s stepping into network hosting.

Rodney, I just read your piece on Matt Rogers’ new reality show in Kennesaw. I think I’m going to take my congrats back. Poor Matt!

I’m looking forward to the report on the auditions, hopefully Atlanta does better than 7,000.

Congrats to Bo. I didn’t realize that he was a breeder.

I had to look up Matt Rogers, I think he was on Idol this year pretending to be the oil rig guy. Seriously I think that he is Michael Sarver with a different hair style.

Just wait Deirdre, Rodney will have to report on the sales of the Chosen One’s new album sooner or later. All Rodney will need to do is place an adjective in front of the sales information and BOOM the invasion will happen.

I remember Matt Rogers because he was so completely different than any contestant we’d seen before..at least at that time. Ex-football playing’ opera singer. His voice was ok but his personality was pleasant and, anytime I’ve seen him since then, I’ve been impresses with his hosting/narrator skills.

Chris, this is a blog for ALL THINGS IDOL. I checked out Deirdre’s links (thank you, D.) and I still don’t remember this guy at all but it was nice to see a former contestant do so well post Idol. And his singing was ok.

It is slow, I’m trying to get on here at least once a day though!
This morning I had to take my mother to run her errands then I came home and took Bruiser and Gizmo swimming, got stung on the shoulder twice by a wasp and couldn’t do anything about it with a dog in each arm.

Chris, We care and most of us have full and productive lives!

Never had a dog named spot. Never met a dog named spot either.

I’ve had two firsts this past week, I watched Taxi Driver for the first time last week, better late than never. I dug up potatoes from the garden yesterday, never had done that one either.

Thanks for the news on Bo and Matt, Rodney. I always did like Matt. Glad to know what he’s up to. We know what Bo has been up to, hahaha. Another little Angel. Congrats to both Bo and Matt.

Almost time for me to head home. Everyone have a great evening. Be safe, be happy and always keep a song in your heart, a smile on your face and a tap in your toes. Be careful when driving on the roads and highways.

Harm: Don’t forget the Bachelorette tonight. Can’t wait to see if Tanner spills the beans to Jillian. He has just gotta GO!!!!!!!

Thanks, Rodney, for the update on Bo and Matt Rogers. Always thought Matt’s personality was what came through best on AI. He was an okay singer but he really does seem suited to hosting duties.

My problem with AGT is all the oddball acts the producers let through for “entertainment” value.

If the premise (as I understand it) is that the winner will get a show in Vegas, then they should weed out anybody who does anything that could not be sustained or entertaining for an actual show.

Tumbling, acrobatics and juggling belong in the circus, not as a headliner act in Vegas. The same goes for board and brick breaking!

Highlander, think Ed Sullivan and the old-time variety shows. That is what makes AGT different from any other show. And, really, they do not usually get through for very long. I love it!

LOL! Yep. Ted Mack was a loooooong time ago! “s’right??–s’right!!!” I didn’t get tired of topo gigio, but man the gong show had some dooooozies!!! And I agree, the novelty acts, especially the STUPID novelty acts, drive me nuts!!! I don’t mind novelty acts that are unique and entertaining, and as mentioned, not like Norman Gentle in depth and breadth of scope — in other words, if you have a novelty act, it best be as varied and entertaining as any that can make me sit for at least an hour or 90 minutes, enthralled with your creativity — otherwise GET OFF THE STAGE!!! I mean, just HOW many ways can you break concrete blocks with your head??????? puhLEEZE. And I’m sorry, no offense to the young russian lady who got hurt last year (so that we voted Donald Braswell back in) but …. just how LONG of an hour-90 minute show do you think i can watch you jump on a stick???

Even the little contortionist was limited in scope. She was good — but i’d get really truly completely yawning bored after 10 minutes of her twisting and tieing herself into pretzel knots and back out again. Sorry. THOSE kinds of acts are great for shows like circuses and variety shows, where no one has to do more than 5 or so minutes of their “thing” then it moves on to the next person/act. But not for ‘concert’ style shows where they have to take up 90 minutes of your time and attention. Even some of the magician acts were too limited in scope. same thing every week. good maybe at what they DO, but they don’t do ENOUGH.

Good Morning…… :)

Today’s Quote: “The only way to lead is by example.”

I had also forgotten about AGT. Thanks for the reminder harriett. I would love to see another Donald Brasswell or Susan Boyle. If I’m in Vegas or any other place where live entertainment is offered for 1-2 hours, I want to be entertained and enjoy what I paid for. Some of the acts put through is not what I would paid to see. A dog jumping through loops, a body twisted like a pretzel, nope, no thanks. Give me Donald and Susan anytime.

BTW: Do any of you watch “Don’t forget the Lyrics?” It’s on Fox at 8pm Friday nights. Hosted by Wayne Brady, it is a very good hour program. I always try to fill in the missing words. Sometimes I’m right and sometimes not.If you haven’t seen it, give it a try.

I just found out last night that one of my granddaughters will be going to the Ga Dome to audition!!!!! She wanted to do it on the last Atlanta audition, but she got cold feet. This year her hubby is supporting her. She can do pop and country both really well. She is a killer on Patsy Cline’s “Crazy.” I’m keeping my fingers crossed that she at least makes it to the judges.

Nana, yes, I have watched Don’t Forget the Lyrics, and really enjoyed it the times I watched. I forget about it, though. Good morning folks! I am a fan of Dont Forget The Lyrics also Nana. I sit there and sing my head off LOL! It is a great show for music fans. I also forgot about AGT when is it on? They do have some starnge acts but some very good ones also. Sort of like AI. The ventriloquist that won a couple of years back whose name escapes me right now is excellent. Keep us informed about your Granddaughters audition Nana. Last I heard Mikes Daughter was going to audition. Is that still on?

harriett

KPH, the ventriloquist’s name is Terry Fator, and he continues to pack ‘em in in Vegas to this day. I have some friends who are fans of Donald Braswell, who just spent about four days on the West Coast and in Vegas and saw Terry Fator’s show. They gave it rave reviews. There was a “reunion” show of last year’s AGT contestants that sounded like so much fun. Too far for me to go, but I have gotten to be friends with lots of those folks; hence my seeing DB in concert again very soon. AGT 2009 begins tonight at 9 PM and will continue Wed at 9 also.
