According to Entertainment Weekly, American Idol second runner-up Danny Gokey has expressed interest in competing on Dancing With the Stars.
Interestingly, not a single “American Idol” alum has landed on “Dancing With the Stars.” At least, not yet. “Idols” have popped up on shows such as “Celebrity Rehab” (good going, Nikki McKibbin and Jessica Sierra!), “Gone Country” (Justin Guarini and Diana DeGarmo, to name two) and “Fear Factor” (Anthony Fedorov and Carmen Rasmussen). But DWTS and “Idol,” which are shot in neighboring studios, have not cross-pollinated yet. Hmmm… this is a good idea for a poll, eh?
-Archie fans hijacked my favorite runner-up Idol of all time poll last week. Bo Bice and Adam Lambert were competing as favorite contestants until suddenly David Archuleta took over. He now is winning by a monstrous margin. As noted, these polls are not scientific in the least, eh?
-”Idol” responded to that AT&T texting brouhaha:
“Fox and the producers of ‘American Idol’ are absolutely certain that the results of this competition are fair, accurate and verified. Kris Allen is, without a doubt, the American Idol. We have an independent third-party monitoring procedure in place to ensure the integrity of the voting process. In no way did any individuals unfairly influence the outcome of the competition.”
AT&T responded, too:
“Last week, countless parties were held in homes, bars, and other public places across America to watch the ‘American Idol’ finale. In Arkansas, a few local AT&T employees were invited to attend two local watch parties organized by the community. Caught up in the enthusiasm of rooting for their hometown contestant, they brought a small number of demo phones with them and provided texting tutorials to those who were interested. Going forward, we will make sure our employees understand our sponsorship celebrates the competition, not individual contestants. That said, it’s quite a leap to suggest that a few individuals could have impacted the final results.”
One Kris Allen texter told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that she was able to make 10,840 votes that night at one of the parties thanks to “power texting.”
-On the “Today” show, Adam Lambert and Kris Allen downplayed the pseudo controversy of those A&T text parties for Kris. Here’s the video from MJ:
