LAWL LOOKS LIKE HEYBUD WAS WRONG ABOUT ADAM.

He's probably one of the greatest performers and most talented singers that will ever be on the show. Deserved to win, talent wise.

i just have to make a comment, even though this is from a year ago, i was searching for tonights performance Season 9. Do you realize, that just because the songs were made 30 years ago, and there were no such things as downloads, they can be downloaded now? I mean are you really that stupid? Please understand what your talking about before you insult people, imo. And plus, they are given a big list of possible songs to choose from anyway. Anything on the list is fair game.

I finally got around to watching last night's show, and here are my rankings for last night's performances:

The Stars:

First - Kris Allen - clearly the winner of the night, best performance by far, he's growing on me. At first I did not think he belonged in the final 12, but he's easily in the top six of this group and he could surprise everyone and win this thing.

Second - Danny Gokey - Another solid performance from Danny.

Third - Allison Iraheta - Another one who is growing on me. Her vocals were excellent. I did not like the outfit either nor the hair, but she's so much better than Adam - the guy lots of folks think will be in the finals.

The Middle of the Pack:

In my opinion there is a BIG gap between third and fourth. Tell me again why Alexis Grace is no longer in this competition. (I know. I know. She did not get enough votes. She did not do a good job on a Dolly Parton song, but man I miss the vixen.)

Fourth - Matt - He is a personal favorite of mine, but I did not think he did as well this week as he has done in past weeks, but I think he has a load of talent and I would like to see him move it up a notch.

Fifth - Lil - She's not a personal favorite of mine and boy are they making sure she stays in the competition by playing up the small children angle, but I think she does have more talent than she has shown in the last two weeks, and I thought she did better than the rest last night.

There should be a Bottom Four this week:

These are pretty interchangeable as I really did not like any of them.

Sixth - Megan Joy - I just flipped a coin. Okay, she's pretty (if you can somehow ignore the big arm tattoo. Besides, if she leaves ...

Seventh - Scott - sounded very flat

Eighth - Adam - And people said that Taylor Hicks couldn't sing? I just don't get the big deal about him. HE CAN'T SING! Close your eyes and listen to him.

Ninth - Anoop - He didn't have it last night.

Prediction for who is going home - Anoop.

Adam
Scott
Anoop

Rodney, I agree with you on your take on Matt. He has given us great performances in all genres so far - Blues, R&B, Country and Rock/Pop. Why do the judges want him only in R&B? I though it was awesome he was in the mosh pit but I have been reading that others didn't like it as much. I thought it took nerve to go out into the crowd like that - a first on AI! I wish he would have done Fray's Heartless cover though - it would have put him as the real front-runner.

I hope they don't send him home tonight. I want to see what he will sing next!

Rodney-your male head has been turned by Megan who has NO VOICE or singing skills whatsoever.
How could you possibly place her-with the inability to get A note on key-above Lil Rounds-who, if nothing else, has one heck of a voice-gee. Close your eyes if Megan sings again-quit looking at her-she's a doll-no doubt-but should never have made it this far. Adam is by far and away the most unique-he is interesting, unpredictable-and from this girl's view-HOT-yeah-I did not close my eyes!!!!

Thanks, offkey! Very insightful, especially about those tiresome, boarding on boring, judges.

I like to watch the performances a second time, the day after. Often I get a slightly different view of what happened, but I agree with several others that the separation is definitely taking place. For what it's worth, my opinion of last night's Poseidon Adventure (There's got to be a morning after)
ALSO RANS:
Megan I would pay to see in a jazz club or cabaret. She's personable enough that I think she could possibly have an acting career, but doesn't really fit well with AI.
Scott: Anyone who overcomes a major handicap as well as he has deserves respect, but in the final analysis his skills simply don't measure up to some of the others.
Anoop: talented frat boy. If the High School Musical Kids move on to college next year, give Anoop a part.
Matt: very good when he's in his element, but inconsistent.
ON THE BUBBLE:
If Allison, despite her big voice, lands in the bottom three again tonight, it should be obviuous she needs to make some changes. Loose the precocious teen image.
Lil keeps proving that she can't do much beyond a passable Mary J Blige impression. We wanted to think she was on the same level as Mandisa, Fantasia, Jennifer or Melinda but she's fallen flat three weeks straight.
FAVES:
Danny has a huge fan base apparently and the best back story, but I question his versatility. A certain predictability is starting to creep into his weekly appearances. Still a solid performer and without a real disaster on his hands has to be considered a contender.
Adam is the polar opposite of Danny in style although, in my opinion, the strongest contestant in terms of talent. If he doesn't win it will be because his image just annoyed too many people. His vocal range may be the best of any Idol contestant ever.
Kris has come from nowhere with several very good performances and if he can manage to capitalize on his good looks, could pull an upset.
DESSERT: Three judges were annoying enough. Four needs a strong directorial hand to enforce some discipline. Randy's Yo Dog schtick is tiresome, Kara is trying too hard to be profound and is incapable of delivering a concise critique; when has Paula EVER contributed anything meaningful and Simon's opinions are so extreme that they are rarely helpful anymore.
Enjoy your lunch... plenty there to chew on
