3/26: Judges predict an Adam Lambert/ Danny Gokey showdown, David Cook fans need to chill, Fantasia in town, Jordin Sparks opening for Jonas Brothers

Simon Cowell on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” Monday night predicted an Adam Lambert/Danny Gokey showdown with Lil Rounds the highest ranking gal. Watch chapter three here on the NBC site.

Cowell (who was with Ryan and Randy but no Paula) also commented on Obama last week namedropping him: “What he’s saying is Washingtion has become more intelligent.”

“I’m not sure it’s a compliment,” Ryan said.

Simon: “That’s how interpreted it.”

-On the “judges save.” “It gives us something to do” during the results show, Cowell said.

-David Cook is getting some nutty fans. He had to address it on his blog:

Hey everyone,
First off, I want to say thank you to everyone who has been coming out to the shows since my last post. The vibe at these shows has been amazing.

Secondly, I have to address some behavior that has become disturbing. We pride ourselves on being accessible to you as fans, but in contrast, we do enjoy what little privacy we can muster. To that end, the efforts by some fans to find our hotel rooms, call our hotel rooms, attach things to our bus, etc., is something I have to condemn. This relationship only works when it remains healthy for both parties, and should this behavior continue, the only thing we can do is take more preventative measures to maintain our privacy, which in turn makes us less accessible to you.

I hope this doesn’t come off as harsh. I merely want to nip this in the bud so we can continue to have a great experience with all of you at the shows we have coming up. Take care and see you at the next show.

-I got this email advertisement if you want to see Fantasia tonight in a crowded, sweaty nightclub setting:

Botchey Ent, Music Business Politics, Certified Crunkness & Luckie Food Lounge invite you to HISTORY IN THE MAKING – RICO UNPLUGGED @ LUCKIE FOOD LOUNGE this WED Night with Fantasia, Jazze Pha, Young Dro, Yung LA, Shawty Redd, Angel Lola Luv and more! -And I forgot to report that Jordin Sparks is opening for the Jonas Brothers at Philips Arena August 22. Special presales are going on now.

I will make the first comment. Adam is waaaayy over the top; he needs to continue performing in theater. Danny is just not American Idol material. Both are talented, but hey, Anoop is the one. He is cute, NORMAL, talented and deserves to be the next American Idol. VOTE FOR ANOOP

Poor David Cook. He tries to keep everything open and easy-going and the fan-atics prove that it’s hard to trust anyone.

I get why Simon sees a Danny/Adam finale although Adam has to step it up and tone it down if that’s going to happen. Adam has the voice, Danny has the love.

Ma Lou…my thoughts on Anoop? So far…yawn. Feel the same way about Matt and Kris. However, since Danny and Adam both seem to be somewhat polarizing, each in their own way, we might end up with a boring winner this year.

I sure hope not, D. I, too, like Adam and think he can be the one to beat, but agree he must tone it down a bit and not be such a “one trick pony.” Sameness equals boredom; hence your prediction. BTW, I read last night’s posts about what you must look like and laughed myself silly.

Adam is very polarizing, and once the male herd is thinned a bit over the next few weeks Adam will be revealed as more of a niche/protest contestant that lacks the mass appeal necessary to win. He’ll be the “shocking” elimination of the final 5 or 6.

The one candidate that is most likely to be the spoiler to make the top 3 is Rodney’s original selection: ‘Noop Dog. What he lacks in pure vocal talent and performance skill is counterbalanced by the international voting appeal of being Indian (this just in: India is rather highly populated, and they WILL vote in large numbers), plus a likability buzz that crosses over to many different fan bases.

I think if Danny G gets another week or two of being the uncontested #1 vote getter it will carry through and make this competition more about 2nd place than first. I think Lil is going to have to connect better with fans than she has if she wants to pose any threat of winning this contest. As of now, she is looking more like Latoya London than Carrie, Kelly or Jasmine. Remember Latoya in the Fantasia year? Great voice, nice looking, very professional and sweet, but no personality and no connection to the audience emotionally, so she was bounced in the Top 4 despite Simon saying she was “the best singer” in the competition.

Matt, Kris, Michael and Scott are all nondescript filler, and will be eliminated one by one over the next 4-5 weeks without getting saved. Megan will be toast somewhere in the middle of that pack, too.

The Top 5 will be Danny, Noop, Lil, Allison and Adam, in that order, with Adam being bounced before making the Top 4.

Neg hath Spoken.

Neg, that’s what I meant by being a “one trick pony.” Niche also equal boring, if no depth or breadth of talent is present. I tend to agree with D about Anoop, but my mind is still open after last week. He just has to step it up every single performance night. But, compared with, say, David Cook from last year, he pales, IMO. I heard Cook’s Music of the Night on my Pandora yesterday, and Wow, all over again.

Rodney: The Luckie Food Lounge looks upscale. They actually have chef-prepared food… and shushi… as well as jazz and a mix of modern and old skool R&B. “The space is open and airy with oversized doors and floor-to-ceiling windows, stainless steel fixtures and glass tiles accented by sleek concrete and rich walnut offering cutting edge design.”

If I was in Atlanta I would definitely check it out. I hope Fantasia enjoys the show.

You know how rumors go Deirdre. JHud may tape a performance to be shown at a later date. I did know that Ruben is supposed to be there tomorrow night with Smoky Robinson. It’s good that idol brings back former idols.

Right now, I can’t see a Danny/Adam finale. Adam will definitely have to tone it down and not put so much theatrics into his performances. There is no arguement that he can sing and will ride to possibly the top 5, but I just don’t see him winning. At this stage of the competition, it would be purely conjecture to even predict the top 3, let along the winner.

David Cook is kind of a whiny rocker. Isn’t it an unwritten rule of true rockers that you pretty much leave your hotel room door open for whomever wants to come in and get their groove on? Well that and trash the room and consume massive amounts of whatever is shoved in front of their faces… gasoline “YAR I’ll drink two gallons!”

pulling from last night’s comments — KPH, isn’t “You’ve Got a Friend” (which i also considered recommending) actually a Carole King song? just asking.

D, i’m still checking on the smashing pumpkins type stuff to see if they just happen to have an appropriate song in the genre — but it’s kind of weird listening to SP or RHCP and looking for a mom-son dance song, LOL.

anyone here ever use Pandora to listen to music? it’s a kind of make-your-own radio station online — http://www.pandora.com — you put in a group name and they go out and find what they consider not only songs by that group/artist, but also other music in the same genre — i’ve “discovered” some really interesting stuff that way by people i never heard of before, LOL!

anyway, time to get cracking here, tons to do as usual with one of my co-workers out this week.

Re former Idols, i too am really glad to see that they are trying to bring back the alumni for the show, makes a LOT more sense, and fun for us long-time fans, than aging mentors who are trying, for god-only-knows what reason, to make a comeback!!!

Deirdre: don’t you remember the ‘link D to TV mother bit’ from last year? The year before that it was calling you and Linny lunch ladies. Net needs some new material.

JT: Thanks for the reminder of that “Ladies who lunch” bit from years ago! Neg is incredibly humorous, and only gets wittier by the day. Honestly don’t remember the “D to TV mother link” from last year, but the great Neg is the King of Comedy so anything is possible.

Yes, the song was a Carol King original that JT remade a few years after her hit version. They weren’t all that different, but I think she had a little more soul while his was a bit softer and quieter.

Chorus: It’s the start of your new life

Hope the good days outshine the bad
May laughter brighten the sad
Know I’m here for you
To help or just talk to
Believe in each other
I’ll always be your mother

The day will be here soon, when you’ll have kids to love
God will watch over you, from heaven up above
Pray for patience & wisdom, to give your kids your best
You’ll teach them right from wrong, they’ll bring you happiness

Chorus Repeat

Bridge: I’ll always be your mother, it completes my life
My tears are filled with love, for you & your new wife

The wedding is this fall … and the plans seem to be going well. She wants to wear my wedding gown, so we’re getting that altered … she wants low-key and vintage … but with tons of friends and family!

This will explain why I always ask that ya’ll be careful on the roads. I know first hand what damage a drunk driver can do.

linny and Harm: Congrats to both of you on your long marriages. Also to Mike S.

Ya’ll are making me want to try again. Been single now for 23 years but there has been a long and undistinguished line of suiters during that time. I warned them they would have a good time but not a long time with me…

Dierdre, congrats to you as well. 29 years and still going strong. Isn’t love grand?

Nana…How tragic for you and the children. I’m so sorry. I love your story of meeting your second hubby. It was meant to be.

I know Linny funny how things worked out. A lot of people back then thought us hippies would never amount anything and most of us turned out to be very stable clear thinking people. As you said before it’s funny that we used to be free spirited liberals and as we aged and realized the true values of life we for the most part became concerned conservatives.

I can see us with flowers, beads, sandals, long dresses and the guys with beards and long hair. Oh what a visual. But as KPH pointed out, we all (well some) turned out just right. I remember going to Piedmont Park in Atlanta and that place would be covered with hippies.

Ah, I didn’t realize you were after a mother/son dance song at a wedding.

Hmmm….the only thing that comes to mind is “Mother” by Pink Floyd
I’m pretty sure you don’t want that one lol.

If I come up with something else I’ll chime in.

All these long wedlock stories there must be some old or um I mean seasoned folks on here. :-)

GAgirl, loved your posts. What Nana is telling you, however, is gospel. You just never know what wonderful person might be around the next corner. I left an alcoholic womanizer after 25 years of marriage. Met the best guy ever when I least expected it and we were together for seven years before he passed away from a rare disease. Hoping that might happen again someday even though now I’m just another aging hippie.

Gosh, just re-read my last, clumsily-written post. Should have said, “I’m hoping someday to meet another special person even though now I’m just another aging hippie.”

Peace and love to y’all.

GAgirl – “I warned them they would have a good time but not a long time with me…” I second that emotion!

everett – That’s okay hon. We all make errors on here. Sorry for the loss of your husband.

Almost time to wrap up my day and head home. Am looking so forward to tonight. I just hope we aren’t disappointed.

So, ya’ll be safe, be happy and love the ones you’re with. And, always be careful when on the roads and highways.

Chat with ya’ll tonight!!!! :)

Nana we could post pictures on the blog a couple of years ago. I was one of the only ones brave enough to post some of my old hippie pics. I had hair longer than most of the chicks as we called you ladies back then and more patches on my jeans than anyone between 14th and 10th. I was an avid reader of the great speckled bird which Linny’s husband was a distributor. Oh the good old day’s!
