2/26: Jennifer Hudson on Oprah Friday, Feb. 27, Paula Abdul says her judge comments out of context

Jennifer Hudson may be using Oprah Winfrey for her first interview since the deaths of her mom, brother and niece. For now, she’s scheduled to sing “If It Isn’t Love” on Friday, according to her Web site.

A deluxe version of her album is out on iTunes, too, which includes her “Star Spangled Banner” from the Super Bowl. Her Grammy performance is included, too.

-Paula Abdul complained to OK magazine about how Kara DioGuardi’s presence has disrupted the flow of the show.

“It takes up so much time for each of us to give our opinion that it slows down the pace of the show,” she says.

She also said her contract is up this year and hints she might want to do other things.

Kara DioGuardi responded quickly in a statement, saying she was disappointed Paula didn’t come to her first about her concerns. But then on the Insider, she said her comments were referring to “guest judges,” not Kara.

“It is unfortunate that a quote of mine was taken completely out of context today,” says Paula. “I was actually referring specifically to the use of ‘guest judges’ in seasons past, NOT Kara [DioGuardi] or this season. I am thrilled to have her by my side each week on ‘American Idol.’”

Who should make it through tonight — as opposed to who WILL make it through? (Pick up to three)

Brooke White is set to perform tonight, promoting her song “Hold Up My Heart.”

And Joanna Pacitti, who was dropped from the top 36 because of her connections with 19 Entertainment execs, is dating “Dancing With the Stars” dancer Mark Ballas, if you care.

Speaking of barely caring, Bikini Girl (Katrina Darrell) is making appearances at clubs, sucking the last 15 minutes of her fame, getting as much as $10,000 per appearance, according to TMZ.

Top sales–David Cook sold 16K of his album and is nearly 1 million copies. Jennifer Hudson has sold 633,000. Carrie is at 2.7 million. David Archuleta is at 648,000. Melinda, after three weeks, has sold 25,000 copies. Daughtry is up to 4.4 million. Kellie Pickler has sold 175,000. Jordin Sparks has hit 1 million copies sold. More at Idol Chatter.

Well, I think the post eating issue is back with a vengeance.

Can you put Ricky and Anoop on that list?

My prior post appears to have been devoured, probably on my end. So I’ll try again.

Paula “the bus driver” Abdul needs to go. I’m officially done with her, it took me longer than most to get to this point, but now I’m on the list of those who will be happy when Paula departs.

Bikini girl is making $10,000 an appearance? You know somewhere on the road of life I made a wrong turn.

Who is Brooke White again?

Well I don’t mean to dominate the comments, but I forgot to add in one point.

Paula has gotten really good at being deceitful. She made a statement in opposition to having more than 3 judges. She then tries to twist it to appear that she was speaking about guest judges. Well we all know that guest judges have not been an issue for several years, they went the way of the dodo. However, at the end of the day, speaking of guest judges or not she STILL is opposed to having more than 3 judges on the panel.

In all fairness she isn’t talking specifically about Kara, but she is speaking out against the 4 judge panel. It is time for Idol to finally listen to Idol and trim the judges to 3 – Randy, Kara, and Simon.

I have to disagree with one point, it should read – It is time for Idol to listen to Paula. Because it makes more sense that way.

Since Paula’s contract is up she should take a walk, although I tolerate her brainlessness more than Randy’s unrelenting rapper jargon. “Yo..Yo..Yo..you wuz jumpin off dawg”. Paula does struggle to put a complete sentence together on bad days. And she doesn’t offer much on good days either.

Plus, she is a double talker. She lashed out at Idol for allowing the Goodpenny stalker audition which led to tragedy although I think Paula is privately relieved that she doesn’t have to worry about being attacked by her anymore.
Then she did her double take and said her words were “taken out of context”. Hmmm, didn’t she just say that about her criticism of Kara? Ooops, I mean the guest judges of the past.

So Daughtry’s sales are at 4.4 million! WOW!! And what are the sales of the guy Idol pimped that season? Woops! Nice going Simon. Keep hating rockers Mister Know It All.
Carrie is no surprise at 2.7 million. She’s nominated for country Entertainer Of The Year and she’ll win it and break Kenny Chesney’s and Brad Paisley’s hold on it. “This is just a dream”. I love her :-)

Yes kelly&carriefan, Idol was very lucky to have them both, especially Carrie who had no idea how amazing she was. If she did, she would have forgone AI and gone straight to Nashville.
And good for Bikini Girl. Why not milk her 15 minutes dry? She’s going nowhere after this so she might as well take the money and run. Wouldn’t be surprised to find out she’s in Playboy next. So who will check out her centerfold? I know Simon and Randy will. Maybe even Kara. Not sure about Ryan.

HELLO!!! Fellow bloggers!!!

I haven’t had a chance yet to catch up with the posts I missed while I was “gone” but I will soon. I also have not seen last night’s show yet but will sit down this afternoon to watch. I need to see Lost, too. No big mystery..I just don’t like to post when my house is going to be empty…times are changing, ya know. I was in warm and sunny Ft Lauderdale, staying at my in-law’s condo, lying on a beach, and generally enjoying myself. Was very happy to find Georgia back in the 60’s again.

Now I have to go pick up my dogs…more later!

I have returned from baby sitting Asa. I was worried about getting on here late and not being able to award the winner their cookie in a timely manner, I shouldn’t have worried because I see our missing blogger is still missing!

Did anybody notice Adam Lambert’s parents in the audience last night? His dad looks JUST LIKE the guy who plays FBI Agent Larry Moss in 24. They didn’t show enough to get a really good look though…maybe they will show him tonite.

First question bloggers — do you guys like the look of Wordpress? I personally liked the other way better, at least visually -speaking.

My theory is that Kara joined in anticipation of Paula being pushed out. No back up on this theory, just a hunch. And maybe that’s why Paula’s not down with extra judges, be it Kara or guests. I think Paula, especially last night, provides the best and most positive feedback to the contestants, and that’s not a bad thing. I’ll miss her if she leaves, and Kara won’t make a fitting replacement for her. But I will say that yesterday’s show was the first time I thought Kara provided feedback that was unique and different from the other judges, and that added something new to the conversation. Good job Kara!

She is back! Now, what do I do? No one said Ft. Lauderdale! We had beaches, but they all are connected to islands and we had places in Florida mentioned without the beach! I think I’ll give the cookie to Deirdre as a welcome back gift.

RoHo fan: I do like Wordpress a little better, but it isn’t what I had hoped it would be. Visually I can read it just fine. The problems I have are with the way it displays and then doesn’t display recent posts, and I don’t care for the recently added multiple page function. I understand that it will keep the blog from crashing due to too many posts, but it is a pain on a mobile phone. The new post eating issue is at times worse than the old blog.

I used to be with you regarding Paula, but my tolerance of her has eroded. Too many things have added up over the years that it is really leaving me bitter towards her. Pitching Kara, I mean guest judges, under the bus was the final straw.

Wow, $10 grand an appearance – some people are desperate!
Since I didn’t see all of last night, I didn’t vote.
Looking forward to tonight….

I just watched last night’s performances. didn’t watch judges comments or the pre-taped stuff from each of the Idols and I have not yet read your comments so forgive repetition or just skip this whole this.

I liked the girls in this group better than the guys with one exception.

ONE: Adam Lambert…just terrific..the guy is a performer, has a phenomenal range, doesn’t do a song like the previous artist, and never once lost my attention.

TWO: Mishavonna Henson…I loved her voice, her song choice and her delivery. She kinda mangled the last note but the rest of it was good.

THREE: Jesse Langseth…the one thing I noticed about the girls tonight was that I enjoyed the unique ones much better than the “by the book” types. I lie her voice and her delivery.

FOUR: Matt Giraud…nice voice, well done, stupid song choice.

FIVE: Allison Iraheta….I really like this performance…she reminds me of last year’s contestant(Bride of Frankenstein/Janis Joplin) but she’s better.

SIX: Megan Corkrey….I like her style, I’m a little worried about her range…the song showed off her style but not her voice.

SEVEN: Jasmine Murray…she disappointed me…girl has a voice…girl chose wrong song!

EIGHT: Matt Brietcke…oh heck, I hope he’s done because I’m having some trouble with his name…it was just ok.

NINE: Kai Kalama…stupid boring song makes for a stupid boring performance…another disappointment.

TEN: Nick/Norman…he shouldn’t move on but he was funny.

ELEVEN: Jeanine Vailes…she started so good and went downhill so fast that my head was spinning.

TWELVE: Kris Allen….just didn’t work for me on so many levels.

If I’d had the chance to vote, I would have voted for the first 5 on my list.

LOL!!! Not THAT much.

I looked back at my list and realized I put a couple in the wrong order. Number 2 should have been Allison and number 5 Mishavonna.

I thought, with the exception of Adam and Matt Giraud, that the guys were really awful last night and that Jasmine, who I would have thought should be our first choice, was a major disappointment.

Deirdre: with your corrected list you are fairly close to what many others thought about last nights show. The only exception might be for Adam, he is developing a love/hate following.

Last night was a train wreck, let’s hope that next weeks contestants learned something… anything.

I can certainly understand the love/hate thing with Adam. He puts himself out there and says take me or leave me. I see a lot of talent, theatrical as well as vocal. He could tone it down but then a lot of people would say he isn’t being true to who he is. I don’t know how far he’ll go on the show but I think he has a lot of talent and I am going to enjoy it while it lasts. So far, with a couple of exceptions, he stands head and shoulders above this current group.

After last night my theory that the week 2 and 3 groups would have an unfair advantage by having longer to practice is shot down the tube. Group 1 was much better.

The popular choices here of Allison, Adam, Kris, Jesse and Megan are right in line with the judge’s comments which confirms what I’ve always said about them being too influential. Last night was so bad, with only Allison as a standout, I would expect alot of different opinions here but almost everyone is in line with the judges top 5.

Michael Sarver stood no chance of being the third selection last week if Simon hadn’t told us to vote for him because he was much weaker than Anoop and Ricky. Simon told us to vote for Megan last night so I guarantee she’ll be second to Allison and probably get the third spot. It’ll be Allison, Adam and Megan. Or possibly Kris because they overhyped him to get a teen sex symbol into the final.

JTesla

Anne24, there is one alternative to the judges being influential and that would be that the judges accurately reflect what many people feel towards the contestants. People who follow the show have learned to be decent judges of talent. Allison may have been a standout, but there were a few others who also displayed some talent, and people saw that.

The only time I have felt that the judges over did it this year was with Danny last week. Now I’m a big fan of Danny’s, he is my favorite so far. However, as you pointed out, the judges got a bit orgasmic when it came to his performance. This year Simon’s analysis has mirrored my own, but the other judges are turning out to be like many of the contestants… forgettable. I think those that vote for AI contestants feel the same way. They are smart enough to vote for what they like, and easily forget the droning on about how someone did in the audition.

After all these years people have come to realize that Simon generally makes the right call, but it doesn’t carry that much weight. In order for us to agree with him we had to be thinking along those same lines in the first place. For instance, he didn’t need to tell me that Michael was a nice guy and needed my vote, I already knew that. Now if this were a singing competition and not a popularity competition I’d expect something different from the judges, but that isn’t the case.

Well since i am pretty confident Allison and Adam are through to the top 12, here are my rankings of the finalists so far with #6 being the person I HOPE gets spot #3 tonight, although I don’t think he will.

1. Danny Gokey
2. Alexis Grace
3. Allison Irehata
4. Adam Lambert
5. Michael sarver
6. Matt Breitzke

I also hope that Anoop, Ricky Braddy, Matt Giraud, Kai and Megan will be considered for wildcard night

Also I will make a PREDICTION right now (GET YOUR PEN SWAMI!!!!) : the judges each get to pick 2 from the top 36 for the Wildcard round according to the consensus of all the opinions, BUT there is also Simon and Ken Warrick both saying 8 or NINE with #9 not necessarily being from the top 36-
PREDICTION : #9 is JAMAR ROGERS, and he was intentionally left off the top 36 to create controversy and interest, and he is a DEAD SOLID LOCK TO BE ONE OF THE 3 WILD CARD FINALISTS! AND HE SHOULD BE

Anyway that is my AI conspiracy theory for the week. :D
