The “American Idol” Experience debuted this week at Disney World and yesterday, dozens of “Idol” contestants showed up, including all seven “Idol” winners, plus Ryan Seacrest on the same stage. (The only judge who came by was Paula Abdul.) Hopefully, there will be some cool videos of the event online.

MJ has tons of pictures from the day. Among the other “Idols” who showed up besides the winners include Bo Bice, Melinda Doolittle, Diana DeGarmo, Syesha Mercado, Carly Smithson, Jason Castro, David Archuleta, Ace Young, Bucky Covington, Michael Johns, Justin Guarini and our bud Chris Sligh, to name a few. At a special concert, David Cook performed “Light On,” Carrie Underwood did “All American Girl” and the pair combined for “Go Your Own Way” by Fleetwood Mac.

USA Today covered the event.

The carpet: LaKisha Jones is thrilled to see so many former finalists in one place: “It’s like a family reunion without the barbecue.” Mandisa, svelte in House of Dereon (Beyoncé’s line), says she’s dropped 70 pounds and hopes to lose another 30 by the time her single, Freedom, comes out March 24. “I didn’t want to be telling everybody that God could set them free and still be bound myself.”

Who should not have gotten through but made it to the top 36 anyway?

Here’s the promo for the attraction. It’s basically a mini-version of “Idol” each day. The winner each day will get to audition for the show and cut in front of the line. (Yes! We have video!)

Fox News has a more in depth (sort of) story on the Joanna Pacitti ouster

From the Article
Last week, Star reported two producers at 19 Entertainment, which produces “Idol”, Michelle Young and Roger Widynowski, had connections with Pacitti.

Sources told Star that Joanna had called Young her “manager” and “best friend,” and that Widynowski helped her “get where I am today.”

Damn it’s there it’s not then there it is again! The post eater is back. Anyway here it is maybe.

Keeping the Valentines day theme up. Here is one from my favorite new band. Actually I have been listening to them for several years now but they just hit it big with their new CD.

The Zach Brown Band

She’s got eyes that cut you like a
knife and
lips that taste like sweet red wine
And pretty legs go to heaven every time
She got a gentle way that puts me at ease
When she walks in the room I can hardly breathe
Got a devastating smile knock a grown man to his knees

She’s got whatever it is
It blows me away
She’s everything I wanted to say to a woman
but couldn’t find the words to say
She’s got whatever it is
I don’t know what to do
Because every time I try and tell her how I feel
it comes out “I love you”
You got whatever it is

You know I’ve never been the type that would ever want to
stay
Bring ‘em home at night and they’re gone the next day
But that all changed when she walked into my life
People ask me what it is
I tell them I don’t know
Just something about the woman makes my heart go haywire
She’s gonna be my wife

She’s got whatever it is
It blows me away
She’s everything I wanted to say to a woman
but couldn’t find the words to say
She’s got whatever it is
I don’t know what to do
Because every time I try and tell her how I feel
it comes out “I love you”
You got whatever it is

When she loves me
Girl that’s how I feel
When she loves me I’m on top of the world
Because when she loves me I can live forever
When she loves me I am untouchable

She’s got whatever it is
It blows me away
She’s everything I wanted to say to a woman
but couldn’t find the words to say
She’s got whatever it is
I don’t know what to do
Because every time I try and tell her how I feel
it comes out “I love you”
You got whatever it is

Aw, they were all there! I can’t see youtube vids at work ( :( ) so I will have to wait til I get home! I would’ve loved to have been there. Hello, Kelly AND Carrie in attendance?!

I think an AI reunion in Disney World would be awesome. I’m actually hoping to go myself at the end of March. Kelly has a show for “Mardi Gras.” What is it with me traveling long hours to see her show? I swear I’m not a stalker! ;)

Anyway. KPH, you inspiured the thought for today: “Cold beer on a Friday night, a pair of jeans that fit just right…and the radio UP!”

I really have some great great news (for a change). I am now offically a great grandmom for the 5th time. McKalya Renee was born about 45 minutes ago and she weight 6lb 3oz and 18 in long. I can’t wait to go see her. Happy days are here again!!!! :) :) Just wanted to share my happiness with ya’ll.

OK total geek-a-tron and numerologist moment.

Internal UNIX system clocks are set to count in seconds. The initialization of this clock is set from Jan 1, 1970.

At 6:31:30 ET today it will have been exactly 1,234,567,890 seconds since initialization.

So at that time all UNIX systems in the world will display an internal time of 1234567890.

The Zach Brown Band…. Chicken Fried

You know I like my chicken fried
A cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up

Well I`ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman`s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother`s love

Well I was raised up beneath the shade of a Georgia pine
And that`s home you know
Sweet tea pecan pie and homemade wine
Where the peaches grow
And my house it`s not much to talk about
But it`s filled with love that`s grown in southern ground

And a little bit of chicken fried
Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I`ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman`s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother`s love

And it’s funny how it`s the simple things in life that mean the most
Not where you live, what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes
There`s no dollar sign on a piece of mind this I`ve come to know
So if you agree have a drink with me
Raise you glasses for a toast

To a little bit of chicken fried
Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I`ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman`s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother`s love

I thank god for my life
And for the stars and stripes
May freedom forever fly, let it ring
Salute the ones who died
And the ones that give their lives, so we don`t have to sacrifice
All the things we love

Like our chicken fried
Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I`ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman`s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother`s love

You know I like my chicken fried
Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I`ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman`s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother`s love

So D, are they putting Michael in another group? I don’t want to see him eliminated.

Since the groups are going to be performing live each week this may be an illness related change or something. Just a guess there. I also have a 34 year old son who is single but very involved with a great girl at present she is an Ivy League graduate (Columbia) and an astro physicist so we are hoping she is (The One). I know I will have some grandchildren some day but I am in a hurry! I love children so much and my wife does as well. We will make great grandparents, they will be the most spoiled kids on earth! Mike S

February 13th, 2009

Unfortunately the Falcon willprobably end up eating the Cap hit for the rest of his contract as I doubt they will find anyone to take him (although the Raiders might) and will probably end up releasing him on June 1 to at least avoid his cap figure for next season.

Deirdre

Deirdre

For Chuck Mangione fans: 2 members of his group were on the Buffalo plane that crashed…Coleman Mellet and Gerry Niewood.

harriett

February 13th, 2009
4:05 pm

D, you know I have been thinking about that crash since 6 AM when I turned the tv on to watch Morning Joe, and there was all the coverage. They say the plane dove almost straight down into that house. IMO if it had continued on its course, it would have crashed into that neighborhood on a straight line, killing many more people and probably wiping out the whole place. Is it possible the pilot saw this as inevitable and crashed it straight down to avoid more lives lost? Just a thought that has been niggling at me all day. Mike, what do you think? I know you know lots about planes.

Rodney Ho

February 13th, 2009
4:08 pm

I just posted the picture AP took of the 7 Idol winners together.

KPH

February 13th, 2009
4:17 pm

I hope the Falcons can get something out of him after all the trouble he caused in the organization and city. In the end though just as long as he and his type are gone we can move on. It is obvious that the new management will not cater to his type. The team is going in a new much better direction.

Deirdre

February 13th, 2009
4:21 pm

Thanks Rodney…it is really a treat to see all our winners together…I think this might be the first time.

harriett, I’ll ask hubby but my first thought is no. A captain’s duty is to do everything possible to save the people on the plane. Fighter pilots have often deliberately put a plane down to avoid ground injuries but they is usually only one of two people on the plane. I can’t imagine that an airline captain wouldn’t try everything possible to save his passengers.

Something catastrophic happened that didn’t give anyone time to react. A sudden microburst has done that to planes while they are landing. There’s been talk of ice on the wings being a factor. If it built up very fast…maybe. There will be a lot of studying done before they find out what went wrong.

Deirdre

February 13th, 2009
4:23 pm

Harriett…sometimes, if a plane is going down there’s nothing you can do. The Hudson river captain was fortunate that the river was there because that plane was going down no matter what he did.

harriett

February 13th, 2009
4:56 pm

That’s why I was wondering. If they were doomed and there was nothing he could do, at least he could save more lives. Probably not. Time to run. Hope all have a great weekend.

Deirdre

February 13th, 2009
5:17 pm

Another way of looking at it…if he HAD deliberately put the plane straight down into the ground with the purpose of saving the lives of the people in the houses…..he would be thought of as a hero to those people but how do you think the loved ones of the plane’s passengers would feel? They never would know if their loved one might have survived if he’d kept the plane level and tried to set it down. The lawsuits(and deservedly so) alone would bankrupt the airline. No…a Captain, in my opinion, would never make that decision. He might try to steer the plane away from houses but he’d NEVER put it nose first into the ground.

Nana

February 13th, 2009
5:18 pm

Deirdre, you too, will have grandkids one day.

Speaking of the crash in the Hudson, on todays People, the pilot, Capt. Sullenberger is the cover with him holding the youngest survivor, a 10 month old baby, who by the way is cute as a button.

On todays crash, one of the victims was the widow of a man killed in the 9/11 tragedy. What a double tragedy the family has been dealt. My prayers go out to the families of all the victims.

linny – You better believe I will bring pictures of my new baby to show you. Also, I will bring some of Memory.

We were there today, they are purposely picking people without talent to be laughed at.

Out in the park, thin, attractive girls that sing as a hobby were turned away, but fat middle aged women were approached and asked if they wanted to tryout backstage. Typical answer was “I don’t know.”

It was just karaoke, the words were shown at the back for the “contestants” to read.

What a joke.

Good morning, everyone! I had a great weekend, but now am back at the salt mines. Went to see The Wrestler on Valenine’s Day, and it was an awesome movie. I would caution anyone here who is the least bit uncomfortable with simulated sexual situations, however. And, lots of the film takes place in a strip club, so there is lots of “T and A,” too. None of this is my cup of tea, but I was able to enjoy the film and the remarkable acting jobs done by Micky Rourke and Maris Tomei. I loved her character, too. Mike, was it you who said he wanted to hear my impression of the ending? Or, maybe it was JT.

Congrats to both Nana and D!!!! How exciting for both of you. I am going to be meeting my new neice next week….the family is coming in town for the Christening. My parents keep asking when my husband and I are going to be expecting but alas, after years, still nothing. We are under doctor’s care though….if it’s meant to be, it will happen. If not, there are many kids that need love, even if it’s not a biological thing.

SHOUT OUT TO LINNY…thanks for telling me to check the internet re: Zac Brown! Watched a five-minute YouTube video and fell in love. Talk about some good.

And Deirdre, I’m hopeful about the Tuesday night Idol, too. Seems there are so many competitors we need to get to know and I can’t wait to hear what they may have to offer.

Rawk on…………

Deirdre

February 16th, 2009
10:08 am

I agree, everett and we have a VERY short time to make up our minds. Yes, I think some will get shoved to the side because there are so many good singers this year but I think I like this format better. Last year, I was pretty much over a few of those singers, yet we had to hear them at least 2 more times before they left. And keeping in mind the detrimental affect the cameras have on some of the singers, our favorites might not be our favorites anymore after Tuesday’s performance. Sometimes talent just doesn’t translate very well on TV.

Tuesday night will separate the men from the boys since this will be their ONLY shot at making the top 12(other than a wild card chance)For some, the nerves will take control.

Deirdre, there may be a grand child in your near future afterall, congratulations!

My weekend was not very pleasant. On Thursday night my daughter and son-in-law received a phone call from a fireman that happens to be a good friend of theirs,he asked about an address on their street because someone had called 911 saying that they didn’t feel good, that was all that was said from the caller. My daughter got the address from the fireman and it was her next door neighbor who is an older woman who lives alone with two dogs,a cat,a bird and a rabbit and who is also one of my mothers best friends. My daughter and son-in-law go right over and stop the woman who is attempting to leave her house. She says she can’t go to the hospital because of her animals and she wants to talk to her son. my daughter tells her she will watch the animals and contacts her son. The ambulance arrives and says she is having a stoke and carries her to the hospital. My daughter is thinking she will be ok at this point because she can walk, talk and is still some what coherant. She wasn’t alright, she died early yesterday morning. Now,I’m worried about how my daughter is handling all this, she seems fine now, but I know she doesn’t handle stressful situations very well. I think there will be a delayed reaction later, something insignificant will set her off. What do you think? Am I worrying too much about something that may or may not happed? I apologige for the looong, non idol related post!

harm — your daughter should be ok, but she’ll obviously be feeling some emotional upheaval — it’s rough when anyone you know dies, especially suddenly, and makes it harder when you’re right there, as she was — but as long as she doesn’t either obsess on it, OR try to bottle it up and ignore it, but talks about it normally and with people who care, she should be fine.

While I absolutely abhor the current practice of calling in grief counselors for every thing that happens, THIS is one of those times that someone with experience such as a counselor, pastor (or whatever) who has dealt with situations similar to your daughter’s situation, might be good to have her talk with, discuss her feelings, and to help her sort those feelings out. Believe me, every feeling she is having right now is valid, and should not (not that you would, but someone might) be “pooh-pooh”ed.

Simply said, she needs to talk it out, in my opinion, to help sort her feelings and to let them escape and not fester inside.

i’ll keep her in my prayers, of course! that’s a hard hard thing to have happen.
