This press release buried the news that so-called “Plant’ Joanna Pacitti (who has had a record deal before) was not eligible for the competition after all. TMZ said her former manager at Geffen is now a 19 Entertainment, which operates “Idol.” If that was the case, why was this only announced now? Felicia Barton was given her spot.
We also get little bio snippets of the 36. Not a single Georgia person in sight though like Michael Johns and Carly Smithson last year, someone might have lived here at some point. If anybody knows any of the folks below and knows that they have some direct Georgia connection, email me at rho@ajc.com.

my biggest disappointment was that Danny Gokey’s best friend, Jamar, DIDN’T make the cut, while others who were a lot less talented IMHO DID make the cut. really busy, overslept so have to work work work, will try to come back later
(well biggest disappointment other than the two drama queens made it through UGH!)

Thanks for all that Rodney. We have a really good group this year and I’m sure, once Norman, Nate and Tatiana are gone, we’ll be very unhappy to see some of them leave.

We did find out what happened to Nathaniel last night, his Mom is a drugie. Let this be a lesson to all you young folks out there. Taking drugs while with child will cause you to give birth to something like that! Must have been LSD, Crack, Uppers, Downers, Heroin, Ice, Cocaine, Hash, Pot, Booze that would cause a total internal womb combustion accident of those proportions.

Thank you for the update, Rodney!
I wondered how many chances that one girl was gonna get – and she wasn’t that great.
There is a talented group hidden among this finale 36 – but too many mediocre ones as well. I am still shocked that they said Jamar didn’t stand out. But they let Drama Nate and Norman/Nick go through? Well, they did stand out, but was it really for the right reasons?

I think the producers saw that this troika–Nathaniel, Nick, and Tatiana got through, just for making “good tv.” I noticed on Idol Wrap, Justin keeps talking about “making good tv.” They have certainly generated a lot of conversation. We are all hooked on the subject and are waiting for them to fall. Generated lots of interest, if nothing else. However, like the rest of you, I lament Jamar’s leaving and their staying.

I don’t even mind Norman being there — but nathan and tatiana are a disaster waiting to happen, and i agree, i think that the judges were told…put’em in. but i honestly cannot see any of the 3 making it to the 12, and if they do, i will have to leave the room when those perform, especially ESPECIALLY if it’s tatiana. god she can totally drive me up the freaking WALL!!! surely she cannot be like that 24/7!!!! pity the fools around HER!

Yes, like linny, Tatiana grates on my nerves so badly that I will freak if she is in the top 12. But, surely they won’t sacrifice one of the really good ones, will they? Nathaniel is a train wreck and quite a fragile individual. It won’t be pretty when he is eliminated. Nick/Norman, I kind of understand. Don’t hit me, now!!

Time out! Let me get this straight: last night we had several sing-off’s, because the judges were on the fence. YET when it comes time to fill an open spot they go with Felicia Barton? I call BS. Last night Rodney stated: “Felicia Barton is gone. We hardly knew ya.” So they picked an unknown over people that they were on the fence about? In other words last night was a sham. All in the name of good TV, it is starting to become very apparent that the wizard is nothing more than an old man hiding behind a curtain. Poor Felicia is simple cannon fodder.

Hey y’all! (Sit back, this’ll be a long, ramble
)
Well, first off, CONGRATS TO CARRIE!!!! Entertainer of the Year is quite the accomplishment. And she certainly gets my vote ’cause I’ve found her highly entertaining!
Wow, I’m shocked that Joanna is out of Idol, but it’s interesting. Maybe they figured that she wouldn’t actually win due to all the fallout. I mean, Kara was very vocal about knowing her from the get-go. They could’ve figured it would be another Carly situation. I liked her slightly better than Carly and will miss seeing her. I think it’s a bit hypocritical that they are starting to take a stand about this “plant” thing now…but better late than never, I suppose. (This website has some interesting theories, though not sure if they are all accurate: http://americanidolexposed.wordpress.com/)
The Top 36 is quite strong this year…but I have to give the WTF?! Awards to:
1. Tatiana – Oh, dear God. The girl is as annoying as all get out. I speak Spanish and would LOVE to tell her a few things!
2. Nathaniel – He’s got a decent voice, but this outfits are SOOO horrendous! I can appreciate someone being themselves, but he’s quite offputing.
3. Norman – are you kidding me?! Yes, he is funny, but come on! He looks WAAAAY older than 29 (is that the age limit these days?) and the Norman/Nick thing is getting annoying.
4. Steven – Yes, he’s got a very decent voice, but I’m sorry. If you forget the lyrics…you should go home! That used to be a rule at one point. Or am I imagining that? I think Jamar or Jackie should’ve made it instead. Heck, replace Nathaniel and Norman Gentle and voila!
Huge Personal Pet Peeve: I cannot stand it when someone attempts to sing Kelly or Carrie. Only Kellie Pickler did a decent job (of SUBG) in her audition. Kristen’s Because of You was ok, but Kendall’s Before He Cheats? Not so much.
“Memo to producers: Yes, I’m watching and I know you’ve found amazing talent, but Ihaven’t connected with the contestants so much. Singing past Idols only makes me compare and think they aren’t as good. Sincerely, K&CF”
With all that said, (and I could keep going…it’s what happens when I stay away for a couple of days…lol), here is my Top 12(ish). Some are still interchangeable for me at this point:
Boys: 1. Danny, 2. Matt, 3. Michael, 4. Anoop, 5. Alex/Von, 6. Kai (IF he gets a haircut!), 7. Brent
Note: Adam doesn’t make it ’cause he’s too theatrical for me. Maybe if they were doing Twilight: The Musical…
Girls: 1. Jackie 2. Lil, 3. AnnMarie, 4. Megan/Casey, 5. Jasmine. 6. Stevie, 7. Kristen
and that’s all she wrote…for now.

I know that I will be off topic here, but in view of Valentine’s Day, here goes:
I love you because you understand dear
Every single thing I do.
You’re always there to lend a helping hand dear
I love you most of all because you’re you.
No matter what the world may say about me
I know your love will always see me through.
I love you for the way you never doubt me
But most of all I love you cause you’re you.
I love you because my heart is lighter
Everytime I’m walking by your side
I love you because the future’s brighter
The door to happiness you’ve opened wide.
No matter what may be the style or season
I know your heart will always be true
I love you for a hundred thousand reasons
But most of all I love you because you’re you.

Curious that they didn’t replace Joanna with the beautiful blonde Simon wanted over Kristina in the sing off. If he was so adamant that she was the better choice even though Kristina sang much better why didn’t he bring her back when Joanna’s spot became available?. Or Rose Flack, who we at least got to know. Felicia Barton is as unknown as Kris Allen. The people who got no previous exposure are like lambs to the lions or whatever the saying is.

Hey…that was a long one!
k&cf…thanks for making up for lost time..we missed you!
Felicia Barton is very good…she had a large fan following even before the show started(those spoilers are everywhere). I’m looking forward to hearing her sing. And yes…those “sing-off” things were just Idol showboating.
Also, Joanna is gone because, while she was under contract, she had some kind of association with 19Entertainment. It’s like I can’t win a free trip on Delta because they pay my mortgage. And, if we’re talking about someone making it who forgot the lyrics…I don’t think Joanna remembered her lyrics the entire time she was in Hollywood.
As for shudder Tatiana…she has a voice…it’s a good one as long as she sings and doesn’t speak.
Nate can sorta sing, too.
As for Norman/Nick….I like him but I’m not sure WHAT they were thinking. I’d much rather listen to Jamar.
linny ,,,=^..^=,,,

I’m with you on the Jamar thing. That was just SO wrong, to put Nick/Norman or even Nathaniel (yes he can sing .. but!!!) ahead of Jamar, and some of those guys that got through, say “Who??” And while i agree, Tatiana ::can:: sing — i thought they were supposed to balance the auditions out and pick someone who could WIN … she’d have to do a whole heapin’ lotta change to get anywhere NEAR top 12, much MUCH less top 3!!!

ok…Rickey had it for me:
Group 1 of the Top 36 will perform next Tuesday for America’s vote. The highest male and female vote getter will advance to the Top 12 along with the next highest vote getter, male or female. So who will compete in group 1?
* Casey Carlson
* Danny Gokey——-if he doesn’t make it, something is WRONG
* Michael Sarver—-isn’t this the oil rig roughneck? i LIKE him
* Ricky Braddy
* Ann Marie Boskovitch
* Stevie Wright
* Anoop Desai——–another who should definitely be in the 12
* Tatiana Del Torro puhleeeze send this one home, world!
* Jackie Tohn
* Brent Keith Smith
* Alexis Grace ——–of the girls in group 1, i like her best
* Stephen Fowler——-despite his mess-up on H’wood day 4, i like his voice and style, so HE should be there too, IMHO

The wild card will allow the others to sing again and the judges will pick 3. I’m just hoping that they don’t try to keep the number of males/females even. That annoys me…if there are more guys better than girls then we should have more guys in the mix…..of course, that’s really going to upset Negativo!

linny, I remembered that you were playing catch-up, so I would never give you a hint or a spoiler on Lost. You probably wouldn’t understand it if I did
It is terribly convoluted at this point, and D, you were wise to wait under the circumstances. LOL!

I think we actually got an answer to a couple of questions but, of course, as always on Lost, it only created more questions.

Good Morning………..We made it to Friday.
Today’s Quite: “Oh, if it be to choose and call thee mine, love, thou art every day my Valentine.”
“My Valentine” By Martina McBride
If there were no words, no way to speak
I would still hear you
If there were no tears, no way to feel inside
I’d still feel for you
And even if the sun refused to shine
Even if romance ran out of rhyme
You would still have my heart until the end of time
You’re all I need, my love, my valentine.
All of my life
I have been waiting for all you give to me
You’ve opened my eyes, and shown me how to love unselfishly.
I’ve dreamed of this a thousand times before
In my dreams I couldn’t love you more
I will give you my heart until the end of time
You’re all I need , my love, my valentine.
And even if the sun refused to shine
Even if romance ran out of thyme
You would still have my heart until the end of time
Cause all I need is you my valentine
Oh, you’re all I need my love, my valentine.

Morning!
Nana…you have succeeded in setting the Valentine’s Day mood all week. Thank you.
In the news…wouldn’t it be great if Hank Aaron was re-crowned the Homerun King? The most recent efforts at winning the title have been artificial. Baseball needs to make a statement if people are to ever trust it again.

I agree D — baseball needs to purge the record books of the names of all the roid users IMO. Make a separate category for the Barroids, A-Roids, McGwire’s, Sosa’s, Clemens, etc….
And I personally think they should release the entire list of names from 2003. Get it all out there, come clean, and let’s get this stupid mess behind us and start over. And yes I am fully prepared to see some Braves/former Braves on that list, foremost being Andruw and Javy.

Good morning folks, Agreed no athlete who used roids to gain an advantage should be in the record books. As my Granddaddy always taught me “cheaters never win and winners never cheat”.

Good Friday morning to you fine folks out there in bloggersville!
Mike S – Andruw Jones? Steroids? Really? That is not sarcasm, that is genuine surprise from me. He has been one of my fav Braves players. Would break my heart to hear he was another roid idiot….
I am boycotting the V-day this year. Save your money….Show the person you love them every day of the year. So, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!!

AMEN! Deirdre, but *sigh* that doesn’t appear to be very likely at this point. That was THE travesty of 2009’s AI season, IMHO. The only thing WORSE would be if either of the drama queens end up winning thanks to the likes of VFTW.

Keeping the Valentines day theme up. Here is one from my favorite new band. Actually I have been listening to them for several years now but they just hit it big with their new CD.
The Zach Brown Band
She’s got eyes that cut you like a
knife and
lips that taste like sweet red wine
And pretty legs go to heaven every time
She got a gentle way that puts me at ease
When she walks in the room I can hardly breathe
Got a devastating smile knock a grown man to his knees
She’s got whatever it is
It blows me away
She’s everything I wanted to say to a woman
but couldn’t find the words to say
She’s got whatever it is
I don’t know what to do
Because every time I try and tell her how I feel
it comes out “I love you”
You got whatever it is
You know I’ve never been the type that would ever want to
stay
Bring ‘em home at night and they’re gone the next day
But that all changed when she walked into my life
People ask me what it is
I tell them I don’t know
Just something about the woman makes my heart go haywire
She’s gonna be my wife
She’s got whatever it is
It blows me away
She’s everything I wanted to say to a woman
but couldn’t find the words to say
She’s got whatever it is
I don’t know what to do
Because every time I try and tell her how I feel
it comes out “I love you”
You got whatever it is
When she loves me
Girl that’s how I feel
When she loves me I’m on top of the world
Because when she loves me I can live forever
When she loves me I am untouchable
She’s got whatever it is
It blows me away
She’s everything I wanted to say to a woman
but couldn’t find the words to say
She’s got whatever it is
I don’t know what to do
Because every time I try and tell her how I feel
it comes out “I love you”
You got whatever it is

Mike, I think you’d have to add David Justice to that list, too. It is a travesty that those overblown ‘roid monsters are allowed to set “records.” And taking it a step farther, Sammy Sosa was not content to bulk up like an X-Man, he had to cork his bats, too. Sad, sad, sad. I have loved baseball since I was a little bitty kid.

Lara, that is just speculation on my part. Andruw and Javy are the only Braves that scream out to me as possibles, and only because of the way they were both solid players with great stats who suddenly “bulked up” and put up astronomical numbers right about that time, then both crashed and burned about the time the new testing stuff came into being.
By contrast, Chipper Jones has been consistent his entire career numbers wise. Andruw was a solid .260, 30 HR, 100 RBI guy who suddenly went to a 40+, 120 RBI guy (not unheard of) followed by a precipitous drop in productivity at the same time the Steroid testing started.
Javy was a solid hitting 20 HR 75 RBI catcher, who suddenly gained 20 lbs of bulk and became a 40 Hr 110 RBI hitter (very suspicious) who also fell off the face of the planet at the same time.
ON a bright note, I got an I-phone yesterday, and I LOVE IT!!!! Pandora Radio is the shiznat! Streaming radio of just the people you want to hear. You pick an artist to make a channel for, and you get that artist every 4th song sometimes more, and in between in picks artists that are similar in style.
I made a Lynyrd Skynyrd channel, and have been listening to Blackfoot, Marshall Tucker, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Tom Petty, Joe Walsh… I am in 790’s-80’s southern rock heaven at the moment.
