2/4: Clay Aiken on America’s Next Top Model, Kelly Clarkson is not gay

This is the mid-day roundup of “Idol” news. Sorry it’s a little late!

EW has learned that Clay Aiken will show up on a future episode of “America’s Next Top Model” in an acting challenge and serve as a gust judge. That should be a hoot!

Kelly Clarkson doesn’t do a huge number of print interviews. (I’ve never had an opportunity to do one.) But popeater managed to get some time with her. KellyFan should be thrilled by the details here. The most “tabloid-y” revelation is no, she’s not a lesbian. Did anyone ever think she was? (I guess so!)

Anyway, here’s a sampling Q&A:

Your last album, ‘My December,’ was quite a personal affair. How would you describe the new album, ‘All I Ever Wanted’?

It’s kind of like a roller coaster, because 1) I’m a woman, but 2) I love that ride through an album because it tells a story. But there’s some really fun stuff on here that I’ve never done before — like this one song I did with Ryan Tedder from OneRepublic called ‘If I Can’t Have You.’ It’s very like Eurythmics meets the Killers — very different for me. It’s a lot sexier. People think it’s so funny because they know I’m not that girl. Then there’s other stuff like ‘Cry,’ which is the most personal song on the album and is about betrayal. Anyway, [the album] is very personal and all over the place. All my albums always have been. I don’t know about you, but I get really pissed off when I buy an album and every song’s the same. I’m like, “Man, you just wasted my money. I could’ve just got one song.” Some artists complain about leaking a bit of the album with each song. I’m like, “That’s just forcing you to come out with better music.”

I don’t know what to do with some of that, so I’ll punt to our Kelly expert. Looking forward to her album. Clay… ok whatever.

Hunh? I like her music! I don’t know what any of that other stuff has to do with it.

Clay/Next Top Model….I’m not seeing a connection.

Did these 2 stories get mixed up? Clay’s gay and Kelly would be a hoot on Next Top Model! :-)

Kelly a lesbian??? Just because she is not throwing her sexuality all over the place like many pop stars does not make her a lesbian. I actually truly enjoy her music and her attitude…she is one of the few that I truly believe has a great positive attitude and is overall a great performer.

Clay on ANTM??? Good for him. That would be a blast, I do have to agree with Rodney. I used to watch the show and I think that would be a really fun episode to watch just for him.

Deirdre, just when I start to think that there is no more hope for mankind, someone does something like that and reaffirms my belief that humans are not doomed. Humor in action.

Wow! Well, I totally missed this entry. Glad I make the actual post there! LOL.

To answer the question, yes, a LOT of people have thought that Kelly’s gay. It’s been a long standing rumor in some circles. I agree with her though that it’s not important. I’ve wondered myself and can see why some people say it, but I don’t know. It’s not like I’d have shot with her anyway. Ha.

I do have a bone to pick with her, though. Some of us are stable and quiet. And I wouldn’t date myself either. ;)

Sure Kelly. And Clay Aiken “wasn’t gay” either. Fess up.
