1/21: Paula Abdul stalker ODed on prescription drugs, ratings way off, Kelly Clarkson’s hot single
Still smarting from last night’s snore of an episode? Not much news to muse on today.
Idol early ratings last night were 22.4 million, down a whopping 26% from a week ago and 23% from a year ago’s comparable episode. But then again, it was up against all that Inauguration coverage. And it was a lousy episode. You have to wonder if the Fox execs, knowing about Inauguration stuff, purposely placed the obvious dud on last night. If so, smart move!
On a more pleasant note, Kelly Clarkson’s “My Life Would Suck Without You” is getting pretty monstrous support from top 40 radio, debuting last week at No. 27. (Mediabase has the song at No. 26) It’s already poised to pass David Cook’s “Light On,” which is struggling at No. 23 on the Radio and Records chart. I expect Kelly’s song will be in the top 10 in two weeks, top 5 in three and possibly No. 1 by the time March rolls around. The single is already No. 1 on iTunes.
Over on the country chart, not a single “Idol” in the top 30 but three are bubbling under. Carrie Underwood debuted at No. 37 with “I Told You So.” Josh Gracin is at 40 with “Telluride” and Kellie Pickler is at No. 39 with “Best Days of Your Life.”

Sorry Harm, the winter weather here won’t make many people jealous. Mild temperatures, and the rain will start again on Saturday. Rain will be fairly common between now and mid June.

Y’all…last night was horrible. That “tray-shea” chick had me in stiches, though. Come on! When she said she was a fan of Paula’s, “You had a hit…in the early 80’s…when I was a baby.” Kara’s face was priceless. LOL! I do have to say, Kara is quickly becoming my fave. I loved how she stood up to Simon and kept talking.
Anyway. Yes, Kelly is gonna start burnin’ up the charts in no time. At first, I wasn’t completely taken by the song, but it definitely grows on you.

Good afternoon. Finally got a chance to take a few minutes. I have decided that I do not like the month of January at work!!!!! To much to do and not enough hours in the day to get it all done. And nah, that’s not job security. No such thing now days.
Hopefully, tonight’s Idol will be much better. I tend to agree with some of you that Adam and Kai were the better ones from last night. I think they will possibly make top 36.
I’ve had my few minutes of lunch so I better get back to job, but first I need some advise on the best way to get rid of a stye on my eye. It’s driving me crazy (which won’t be hard to do since I’m half way there). I have tried hot compresses, salve, patches, so what is left? Help!!!!!

K&CF: that woman had me laughing too. Both Ryan and the girl sitting next to her in line had to correct her pronunciation. That should have been a clue for her.

JT, yes…the video for My Life Would Suck Without You was filmed in LA a few weeks ago. I hear that it’s supposed to be released before the end of the month. I’ll keep you posted if I hear a specific date. You *know* I’ll be on the lookout for it.
KPH, YES! She said the wrong rectum…and that’s when the judges LOST it! We had to replay that part because I was laughing for a good minute!

I’m so glad y’all found the lar-nix girl as funny as I did. That last scene with her walking away from the camera and you can still hear her talking and talking had me in stitches! I thought I heard the rectum thing but wasn’t sure.

KPH…I don’t think she was faking it. My grandmother was a really smart lady but she never went past 6th grade. She was self-taught. she read everything she could get her hands on but, consequently, she was always pronouncing words wrong because she hadn’t heard them said aloud. We always had the best time correcting her…and she was happy that we did because she’d always be amazed at what the word really sounded like.

Well they probably really did that because of the inauguration (my mom watched that instead), but I’ll tell you this much, I am not gonna be too happy if we get another sleepy episode tonight. Cause I can’t even say how bored I was last night. There wasn’t anything interesting other than maybe Adam.

Now Justin saying that the only interesting thing was Adam isn’t totally correct. For instance Kara had on a very interesting top. It was interesting that the auditions appeared to be in a tall sky scrapper. And of course, there were some very interesting advertisements for Fringe which aired right after Idol. So let’s not completely dismiss last nights show.
