Kara DioGuardi has a vast array of hits under her belt as a songwriter. Here’s a sampling of her work. I can’t embed videos yet so I have to do the good ol’ link thing:
-“Ain’t No Other Man” by Christine Aguilera can be seen and heard here.
-The current hit “Sober” by Pink.
-“Walk Away” by Kelly Clarkson
The $1.1 million home in the Charlotte area had been scheduled to hit the auction block Monday, to be sold by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office in order to compensate Broward Energy Partners for the $68,000 loan.
Barrino cut a check for $10,000 at one point, but Broward sued for the rest in January 2008 after no further payments were received.
-A story about Broadway and “American Idol” is in the New York Daily News.
While word isn’t yet official, Brooklyn-born Constantine Maroulis is said to be on board for the Broadway transfer of “Rock of Ages,” the ’80s musical of Journey, Bon Jovi and Whitesnake tunes.
-Here’s an annoyingly cynical story about “Idol” and the cliches from MSNBC.
The best one:
‘I’m sorry to say… You made it!’
How do you tell a group of stressed out singers their big break is finally on the way? By tricking them into thinking that they’ve lost their only shot at it, of course. There’s the “We’ve got some bad news for you… You’re going to Hollywood!” approach, or the equally annoying, “You’re not going to like this, but… Congratulations!” spiel. Heck, Randy Jackson and the gang have honed their “Hate to break it to you… You’re on to the next round!” lines to a frustratingly predictable and unwelcome art form. It never gets old… to them!

Thanks for the links. The “I’m sorry to say… you made it” bit that you quoted does make a very good point. The judges doing that when narrowing the group down to the top 24 is the time that it is the most annoying. One whole hour of the judges either crushing someone’s dreams, or pretending to crush their dreams.

Morning!
Thank you techies for removing fixing the “comment here” thing!
I can’t believe that tomorrow marks the start of the new Idol season! Are we really going to do this again? YES!!!!
And Nana is right…we expect all you lurkers out there to pop in and say hello! Maybe stay awhile. We have west coasters as regulars on this here ole Atlanta blog so don’t be shy or think you won’t fit in! We’ll do our best to help you feel at home. We like healthy disagreements here that do not involve name-calling or disrespect. So if you think I’m an idiot or a beyotch…you could be correct but we’d prefer it if you kept it to yourself!

Good morning fellow blogsters. Got to see the Andrew Lloyd Webber episode last night on Fox Reality channel. Man, David Cook is really good! I hope we find someone just as good and interesting this year. I know I am partial to the rockers, but I have an open mind.
When I set it up to record, it was an hour and 2 minutes - totally throwing off my whole recording schedule - anyone else come accross this problem?

linny…I figure they have to get through all the intros first, then there’s commercials and they’ll show a good singer, then a really awful singer, then someone who thinks they can sing but just isn’t good enough. That should happen about 8:30, I think!
linny…I’m well aware that I’m a beyotch(kinda proud of it actually) I just don’t think newbies need to acknowledge that until they get to know us better!

msn.com has put out a list of the most memorable Idols(good or bad, as you’ll see) On the list: Archie, Kellie Pickler, Taylor Hicks, Jennifer Hudson, Bo Bice, Constantine Maroulis, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Sanjaya, Blake Lewis, Katharine McPhee, Ruben Studdard, Melinda Doolittle, Chris Daughtry, Kimberly Locke, Clay Aikein, Michael Johns and Jordin Sparks.
I’m not sure why Jordin is on the list, other than she won…..I can’t remember her much and often just skip over season 6 altogether(except for Melinda). I also think it’s interesting that there are 2 winners not on the list.
If you want to know msn’s reasoning behind these choices, you’ll have to go look yourself…I have no idea how to link stuff on here.

wow. glad now for sure i watched all 4 hours of 24!!!! who was it, Harmony?? that likes 24 also? I’d forgotten JUST how much i loved that show! And i get 24 and AI, along with all my other stuff, and THEN…>THEN…. L*O*S*T …. i think i MIGHT just OD, LOL!!! OK, i’ve seen the first 4 hours of 24, if that wasn’t clear, so *now* we can talk about it….thanks to those who watch who didn’t spoil it for me…. but if there’s anyone who hasn’t yet (who will be watching it this week) say so, so i don’t spoil it for you, LOL!!!
Mta, what I wonder is…what is it YOU do for entertainment? No, I’m serious. AI is a pleasant, sometimes funny, sometimes interesting, always entertaining in some way, show to watch to take my mind OFF the serious issues of the day. Is it earth-shattering? No, never has been. But it’s one of the ways that I relax after a hard day’s work. And after a hard look at the so-called news, which, as we all know, is usually only teasers and half the truth, so that if you really want to be informed, you have to do some serious searching out of the “other side” of the story… And then there’s the serious business of family, finances, home, chores, meals, laundry etc ad nauseum… so begrudge me a couple of hours of pure entertainment if you want to. I, with my graduate professional degree, will STILL take time to relax and enjoy something if i want to. And talk about it with like-minded souls around the country. I also read voraciously, sew, crochet, cook, understand a little bit about auto mechanics (the technology, not the people, LOL!!) and computers, have a second at-home job, have raised three rather successful sons — each in his own way — and have remained married to the same man for almost 40 years. My IQ tests are high enough that I do not worry about being called mindless — i KNOW my mind — do you know yours? I’ve grown food organically, make homemade preserves and other foods, don’t spend too much on frivolity, because most of what i have is spent on my family and home, or on others in need. Let’s see… well at the moment i can’t think of anything else to convince you that, like most of the others here, i am secure in who and what i am, and in what i enjoy. I happen to enjoy American Idol and discussing it with others.
So again I ask — what do YOU do for relaxation and entertainment? Read? Movies? Sports? Socializing? Drinking? Driving? Diving? Skiing? Cruising? Clubbing? Crossword Puzzles? There are so many things — why would you denegrate those who are different in their choices? Why not celebrate that while YOU may not like American Idol, there are those who do. And that’s the beauty and wonder of living in the good ol’ USofA — we have — are ENCOURAGED to have — choices, and the freedom to make those choices!!!
**linny hops down and kicks the soapbox just under the edge of the platform, knowing she’ll probably be pulling it out again sometime soon, as will others with something to say.**
peace out — go find your chillax place and enjoy it!!! you’ll feel so much better!!!

I really get tired of the “only stupid [or whatever] people watch American Idol. Actually, i know a LOT of highly educated, intelligent, intuitive, creative, smart, fun, secure people who enjoy the show, LOL… the fun thing is … we don’t diss folks because they’re different from us, but we sure put up with a lot of it from others, yanno? But then, comments like those always show up who’s … well, at least who is APPARENTLY …. mindless!

Some interesting tidbits about Hollywood week…don’t read this if you don’t want to know:
Angela Martin makes it to Hollywood…..some of us might remember her from last year as the girl with the very sick child. She was good and rumor has it that she’s improved.
And for Nashville Star fans…a contestant from season 2 of NS, Brent Keith Smith, is also on the Hollywood list.

It’s heeeerrrre! Idol day! Happiness is Idol season! And, after reading some of last night’s posts, I have to comment. It does not take a rocket scientist to glean the level of intelligence among posters here is quite high. I would suppose not everyone might recognize that fact, however.Do we have to be “idiots” to enjoy something so entertaining as American Idol? I think not. Proclivity toward things in pop culture does not preclude a genuine appreciation of fine art, for example. Can one not enjoy a comic book as well as the ballet? So why paint all of us who enjoy American Idol with the “idiot” brush? Not very sound reasoning if you ask me.
