Who are Woods, Mickelson playing with?

Here are some of the more interesting groupings for the first two rounds of the Masters, which begins Thursday at Augusta National Golf Club:

8:40 a.m.: Dustin Johnson, Adam Scott and Nick Watney

This group may have been put together for the ladies — three of the up-and-coming golfers on the tour. If one gets hot they could all move up the leaderboard.

9:24 a.m.: Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, Jason Day

The Justin Bieber group: They will be noticeable because their hair spills out from under their hats. They also are pretty good golfers.

10:19 a.m.: Martin Kaymer, Lee Westwood and Matt Kuchar

Three of the best players in the world, including the Nos. 1 and 2, respectively. Kuchar, a Georgia Tech grad, is No. 10. The winner may come from here.

10:41 a.m.: Tiger Woods, Graeme McDowell and Robert Allenby

Who would have thought that McDowell, the U.S. Open winner, may be the one to watch in this group? Just kidding. Everyone knows Allenby is.

12:53 p.m.: Fred Couples, Luke Donald, Steve Stricker

Kaymer said Donald is the golfer to watch this week because of his unbelievable short game. Couples did his best last year before his troublesome back acted up.

1:15 p.m.: Bubba Watson, Paul Casey and Edoardo Molinari

Watson, a Georgia alum and one of the longest hitters on tour, will tee with Casey, one of the longest hitters on the European PGA Tour.

1:26 p.m.: Stewart Cink, Jim Furyk and Yuta Ikeda

Following a Bulldog will be a Yellow Jacket when Cink tees off. The 2009 British Open champ has made a few changes to his game that he hopes will produce better results.

1:37 p.m.: Justin Rose, K.J. Choi, Louis Oosthuizen

Next to the 10:19 a.m. pairing, this threesome might have the next best chance, one through three, of producing a winner. Rose is long, Choi steady and Oosthuizen is the defending British Open champ.

1:48 p.m.: Phil Mickelson, Geoff Ogilvy and Peter Uihlein

The defending champ goes for his fourth green jacket with arguably the best golfer in Australia and Uihlein, the No. 1-ranked amateur.

I got the opportunity to see Peter Uihlein play in the GA Cup last week. This kid looked pretty awesome, I just hope him playing with Phil doesn’t get to his nerves.

Kuchar DID graduate from Tech but in none of the on-line bios for Bubba Watson does it say he “graduated” from UGA.

Kuchar has played many rounds at Augusta now and with his game it is certainly feasible for him to be in the hunt Sunday afternoon.

Bubba did go to Georgia, but I don't think he graduated.

Heck, I graduated from Georgia in 1975 &, somehow, I doubt my degree has earned me more than Bubba’s career earning w/o a degree. So, I wouldn’t hold it against him.

Bubba graduated from UGA in 2008. He left school in his senior year in 2001 and turned pro. He later completed the requriements for graduation and received his degree. You can still find articles about it with a web search. Also, when a year is given with the name of the school in the PGA Tour profile it indicates graduation. For instance, there is no year next to Tiger’s school in his profile because he did not graduate, but there is a year by Kuchar’s school.

What is with LSU fans that go to the Masters and have to wear all their stupid gear. No one cares who you root for, dress like a gentlemen, you slob. LSU fans should be banned from the Masters. They are a disgrace.

Agree with Ted

That’s hilarious, an LSU fan talking about being classy! Without a doubt the most classless group of people that has ever roamed the earth. I mean they were their tacky purple clothes to church even! Barf!!!!!!!!

Any college football fan that wears their game day gear year-round is ultra redneck… I do not care what school you went to… No need to see your obnoxious game day shirt when it’s not football season. Most of these PWT fans reside in rural/ uneducated areas of the southeast.

Please take your spew to the academic blogs, located in another section of the ajc.

“1 Over for the Turenament”,

I did a quick search to find out when Josh Nesbitt graduated Tech….. NOTHING.

We all know he will never see an Arena Football League turf, so I assume he will be a receptionist at a world renowned engineering firm??

Not all of Tech’s student(sic) athletes are what yout think they are.
