Tiger Woods TV coverage could be limited to just 1 shot

Tiger Woods will hit his opening tee shot at the Masters in front of a national television audience.

That could be the only shot we see him hit the rest of the day.

The Masters limits TV coverage of the first two rounds, allowing broadcasts to air only from 4-7 p.m. EST. According to the New York Times, Augusta National is allowing ESPN to broadcast Woods’ tee shot on No. 1, but nothing else until live coverage begins at 4 p.m.

If Woods draws an early tee time, he likely would complete his round before coverage begins.

Tee times will be announced Tuesday.

Only one spot left in field

The Masters field grew by five Wednesday.

K.J. Choi, Louis Ooosthuisen, Charles Schwartzel, Alvaro Quiros and Thongchai Jaide, a 40-year-old ex-Thai Army paratrooper, moved into the top 50 in the World Golf Rankings this week, earning an invitation to tee it up at Augusta National

The only way to get into the field now is to win the week’s Shell Houston Open.

AP report: Couples to practice with Woods Monday

Just in from AP: Tiger Woods will play a practice round Monday with Fred Couples. Couples, of course, did his best to shrug off the news to focus on golf, something that will be difficult for all golfers not named Tiger (and ones named Tiger) next week.

Said Couples:

“This is not going to be questions and answer. This is going to be strictly golf. I play with him a lot at Augusta. This is not unusual.”

Vanity Fair promises ‘most complete’ Tiger Woods tell-all

By Kristi Swartz

It’s big, and Vanity Fair claims to have it.  (NSFW)

A scoop on Tiger Woods’ life of sex, gambling and complicated attempts to cover it up.

“The Temptation of Tiger Woods” runs through how the golfer conducted himself with his mistresses, on the road and around his friends. Vanity Fair talks up the tale on its own Web site, under the headline “Tiger Woods’s Inconvenient Women.”

Among the details VF says its writer discovered include: Mistress Jamie Jungers saying every time she flew somewhere to meet up with Woods, she would make the arrangements through the president of Tiger Woods Design.

Another mistress, Mindy Lawton, was told to talk to Woods’ agent at IMG Worldwide when she alerted the golfer that The National Enquirer had caught on to their affair.

Each of the mistresses said Woods was “cheap” and didn’t spend money on them. All, but one: Loredana Jolie Ferriolo, a former Playboy model told Vanity Fair she spent …

Teeing off: Wednesday, March 31

Associated Press golf reporter Doug Ferguson wrote more on the attention that will surround Tiger Woods Thursday pairing at the Masters. Most golfers say it’s always different being in a Tiger pairing, but particularly the Masters and particularly this Masters.

Among the golfers quoted in the article are former Ga. Tech golfer Stewart Cink, who played at the Masters with Tiger in 2000 and 2009.

Said Cink:

“I’d be OK with it. I’ve known him for a long time. You have to remember this: At the Masters, playing with Tiger Woods is always a little different than it is anywhere else because there’s always more of the people that want to see him play there than anywhere else. This year, I don’t expect it to be a whole lot different than other years just because it’s always a little different. There would be more scrutiny, but I’d be fine with it.”

A week ago, Kenny Perry made headlines when he said, essentially, he’d take one for the team. For a list of Tiger’s past pairings, see …

Ludacris track tackles Tiger sexting

AJC feature writer Nedra Rhone had a quick interview with Atlanta-area rapper Ludacris last week and here’s an excerpt that deals with his “Battle of the Sexes” bonus track.

With regard to “Sexting” the album’s bonus track that mocks Tiger Woods’ frantic call to his mistress, Luda is matter-of-fact. It was, he said, his effort to tap into the zeitgeist.

“[Sexting] is something I feel like is going on with all of mainstream America behind closed doors. Tiger is the face of sexting right now. If I am making fun of Tiger Woods, I am making fun of myself,” said Luda, who has no idea if Woods has heard the song or not.

However, Luda, who is celebrating the second anniversary of his midtown restaurant Straits as well as working on a venture with Conjure cognac, wouldn’t tell us who he has been sexting.

“That’s private to a certain degree,” he said. “Some things aren’t meant to be shared.”

Teeing off: ‘I’ll play with Tiger’

There’s been some interesting talk about the pairings for the Masters, especially on the first day. Mainly, who gets to play with Tiger Woods on Day 1, when galleries are expected to be even larger than normal Woodsian major galleries. Which are not normal.

Here’s an excerpt from a good NY Times article:

On Wednesday, Augusta National officials would not reveal how they would go about choosing Woods’s playing partners other than to say the selection would be made by the club’s competition committee. The club’s elders have always tried to make contestants comfortable and have scrupulously avoided attention-grabbing gestures.

So do not expect Phil Mickelson in Woods’s group. At the same time, will it be fair to put the less-experienced or the less-seasoned players in a setting of unparalleled distractions?

Who should be paired with Tiger Woods on the first day? (Choose two)

  • Kenny Perry (he asked for it) (0%, 0 Votes)
  • Phil Mickelson (0%, 0 Votes)
  • Mark O’Meara …
