accessAtlanta launches new See & Do platform

We at accessAtlanta take the job of helping you figure out what to do for fun very seriously. That’s why we’ve just given our See & Do platform a very serious face lift to be much more fun based on what you’ve told us you’ve loved about our See & Do, and what you could do without.

It’s now easier than ever to not only look for what to do, but to actually make it happen. Buy that ticket. Grab that coupon. Make that reservation! We’re now a real one-stop-shop for See & Do — so you can act on your fun instincts before you get sucked back into the non-fun stuff.

What you’ve already noticed, no doubt, is the change to See & Do Search. It’s now right up at the top of accessAtlanta.com, and looks like this:

(You can still find site search, too. That’s at the bottom of every See & Do page, and in the upper right of every page on the rest of the site.)

Here’s a quick rundown of how our new See & Do Search works. To start your search, click on the type of thing you’re searching for at the top of the search box, and then enter into the fields whatever criteria you’d like. No need to fill in all the fields, just what’s important to your search.

Take a second to click on all of those categories at the top of the search box, and you’ll see the search box change a bit. The fields are tailored to fit their categories. Clicking Restaurants, for instance, makes the search box look like this:

Search is set to Events search by default. Looking for something to do? You might start your search with a location in mind (enter the city into the “Where is it?” field) or just shoot straight to a kind of event, like festivals (enter the word “festivals” into the “What are you looking for?” field). Click Search or hit your Enter key, and you’ll get results.

If you’re looking for Restaurants in your neck of the woods, just enter a zip code, see everything that’s close by and narrow it down from there. Same thing for Movies—but you can start by searching only what’s playing tonight (enter “tonight” in the “When is it?” field).

Please add lots of your own reviews to our listings, good or bad! They help fellow users make decisions about what to do with their leisure time. It’s easy to do—just click the “Write a Review” link, go through our simple process for signing up or signing in to review, and you’ll be on your way:

We’ve added a few fun new features, too, like Search by Performer. Heard about a musician coming to town? Click “Performers” above Search, enter the performer’s name into the field and click Search to find out where you need to be to catch the show.

Now adding your own listing is easy, too. Just click “Add a Listing” right there in the upper right hand corner and follow the instructions. Once approved by our See & Do manager, you’ll see your listing on the site. By participating, you’ll be offering fellow users even more choices—and they’ll be able to find you through accessAtlanta.com, the leading source of See & Do in greater Atlanta. Free!

Finally, we make it easier than ever for our business owner users to help us make sure that your data is accurate and make it your own. Once we grant you permission, you’ll be able to take the reins on your listing—and help us create an even better offering for all of our users.

Have you tried our new See & Do platform yet? If so, let us know your thoughts. We are always improving accessAtlanta and your feedback is key to our success. Comment here on the blog, or if you’d prefer, email listen@ajc.com or call 404-526-7003.

Does anyone know where to find cheaper tickets for Jay-Z concert at Chastain Park July 12th? This is the first time we’re visiting Chastain Park and the tickets I saw online were for $86 and they were lawn seats! This may be “normal” since the concert is in a few weeks and Jay-Z is performing! Anyway just thought some people can give me a few ideas! Thanks!
